We live 5 miles from Ace, and love to stop here for our harwardware needs. They are so helpful. I have never been in the store for more than a minute before being asked if they can help me find something. They know right where everything is, and I am in and out of the store within 5 minutes.

I don’t see myself ever returning to this store. I live in the neighborhood and work here, so I used to come here frequently. Two weeks ago I was trying to get a key made for my Hyundai. They tried several times(maybe five) and they couldn’t get it to feel like a good fit for the ignition. This is not their fault, making keys by hand is not perfect and I know I couldn’t do any better. I returned the key and got my money back and I put my key in the car and it took a lot of fiddling with to get it to turn in the barrel of the ignition. I could barely get it out also. I explained to them that I was trying no harder in the ignition than their employee Nick was trying with the door. The ignition may have been fragile and it is a little old, but I definitely did not force the spare keys they made me. I asked them if they know anything about the ignition and know if it’ll be okay and what I should do. Their employee Nick got offended because he thought I was blaming them and said something similar to(this was weeks ago) «maybe it’s a problem with your key, because it isn’t a factory key you had us copy from» I explained that a Hyundai dealer made this key of mine with a computer using the factory’s code, and it worked perfect before. He chuckled and had a smirk on his face and I felt as if he was trying to portray me as stupid. I’m a college kid with no clue about cars just asking for advice from someone who may have some better understanding. The manager on duty(Fritz) said he’d give my name and number to the store manager, Al, and I’d receive a call the next day. This was over two weeks ago and still no call. I felt as if I was being 100% polite and appropriate with how I dealt with the situation. I also feel that the manager Al must have been irresponsible or careless to not call me as I was assured, and his employee Nick is way too cocky and rude to be working with customers. The other employees that helped me were courteous and helpful and I do not want them to feel as if this is directed at them. I will never return here, it’s extremely overpriced in many areas, anyways.

While this is not my neighborhood hardware store, we do visit annually to participate in their lawn mower storage program. We drop off the mower in the fall to get it out of our two stall garage. Over the winter they sharpen the blades, change the oil, etc. In the spring we get a call saying that our mover is ready to be picked up. This helps maintain our mower in a way that we wouldn’t normally do if we kept it at home for the winter.
