Please save yourself from a bad experience and listen to the reviews here on Unilocal about this restaurant. The server was not knowledgeable at all about any of the menu items. She was very rude and not helpful. When asked about certain dishes she did not know how to describe them and instead said that she doesn’t taste any of their food items. Terrible service makes for a very unpleasant dining experience. The food was mediocre.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant is built and used somewhat weird, but it doesn’t stop them from making good, authentic Oriental foods. We ate vegan the last time we came, and the tofu and vegetable dishes were amazing. And don’t take the lady who serves you seriously — she is funny and jokes around, but it can be hard to pick up on it. I definitely recommend this place. I come often.

Typical American Chinese restaurant with forgettable food. Ambience is okay, although half the building is oddly not used and it’s the part most easily seen from the street. I think this place does more business in their bar which has a TV. The waitress that’s usually there… a middle-aged Chinese woman… is really pushy and hovered around our table for most of our meal which I found annoying. Like another reviewer said, they use too many cheap veggies(like celery) in their food and not enough or none of veggies like pea pods, brocolli, etc. Food is over-priced for what you get. If you’re hungry for this kind of food, get it as take-out or eat in the bar.

Had lunch here today with my Mom. Food was OK, but the waitress would not serve me Tea. As I ordered my lunch, I asked for tea, she gave me a sharp look and told me I would get no tea. A party that came in soon after we did got tea, but I was not tea worthy. Not sure what the deal is, but I will not be going back. 2 stars, the food was OK.

What to say but its just okay food! Prices average. also my biggest problem was that the cups of water was mostly ice! Two drinks and it was empty, I like water with my meal not Ice! I would not recommend this place for American Chinese food.

Beef chow fun was yummy. Hole in the wall type cuisine with family style seating. The sassy asian woman working the bar was very curt, but it was very amusing. We were just happy to watch the game in an uncrowded environment.

I should have listened to the bad reviews… This place makes a version of American Chinese Food that uses way too much celery, carrots, and other fillers in cream sauces. The chicken I got was something not even Cisco would be caught selling. It tasted like an over sized piece of chicken you find in Campbell’s Soup. Avoid at all costs unless you like flavors vegetables and gummy meat in a cream/glaze sauce. Usually service is the redeemable factor at a restaurant, but even the service was poor!

Have been 4 – 5 times with family that live in area. Ambiance is dated, service is great but understaffed. Egg roll & egg foo young is best I’ve ever had. Prices are fair and it’s definetly worth a try. I’ll be going back.

I am going to say this upfront that I am not a big fan of American Chinese restaurants. You know the type that serve sweet and sour chicken with the clear red sauce or they serve Moo Goo Gai Pan. I just prefer authentic chinese food. I am not going to be to harsh on this restaurant because of its location in Woodburn, Oregon but when you have fried rice on your menu and you just serve it as rice with some soy sauce then I have some problems with being misled. I understand making the menu more appealing to the community you serve but at least get the fried rice right.

I noticed the most recent review and I am appalled by that statement. My family have been going to Yun Wah’s since they very first opened and it has been nothing but welcoming for children. My children are now 20 and 22 and basically grew up with their food. The owner still recognizes and addresses them and my husband and I each time we dine there. It is true that the décor could use some fixing up but the service and food is still not short of amazing. I know this won’t be believable but I was actually there eating while the aforementioned statement was occurring. Those children of course weren’t bothering other customers but they were not staying at their table which they should’ve been. It would’ve been very easy for the waitress to trip over one of them while carrying a plate full of hot food, which is very dangerous and that’s where the liability comes into play. I even witnessed the owner waiting 15 mins for you to speak up. Yet you did not, so she nicely addressed you guys. It was respectful, and she has been struggling herself with English, so she did not mean anything rude. This woman is very hardworking and I’ve know her for a very long time. She has two children herself and I can assure you that she and even I wouldnt let our children stray from our table and wander around the restaurant. And if this exact thing happened to me, I wouldn’t be upset, I would be embarrassed. All in all, my husband and I will continue to eat here, because of their warm service and good food. I hope anyone who reads this dosen’t take this in a negative view, but rather me sticking up for a wonderful restaurant.

Over the years this place has declined. There spicy dishes are not spicy. Then to top it off friend tells me they had a roach problem. Sealed the deal for me. Have not been back for about a year.

Don’t really care about the décor either way; the food was just a few ticks above terrible. The lo mein was tasteless with shrimp that had that very disconcerting«off» flavor. Sweet and sour was soggy. Everything else, like the subgum chow mein and barbecue pork, was very bland and didn’t feel particularly fresh. I was disappointed we hadn’t just decided to get Safeway Chinese instead– 1⁄3 the price, 35% more flavor and less drive time.

Mm. funny I thought the décor was ok. It’s simple(no draperies on big square windows, just some vases at the bottom) and *bright* as the ceilign and walls are whilte. They even got a furnace, though maybe never used. Food was ok. Good for price.
