I am EXTREMELY fearful of going to the dentist and put it off until I’m in so much pain I can’t stand it. That’s what brought me to Soft Touch Dental of Woodburn. I discovered they have about 6 offices around the area but only one central switchboard, so you’re not really talking to the people in the office you’re expecting to go to. Even the staff moves around during the week from office to office and not all offices are open every day of the week. So scheduling can prove to be very difficult if you only have certain days you can go in your area. I considered myself lucky to snag an appointment within the same week I called. I’d taken a GREAT deal of time to explain to the woman on the main switchboard that I had a REALLY bad toothache and also some other mouth/tooth problems. I made it VERY clear to her that I would absolutely NEED to be put completely under for extractions. She made all the appropriate noises of sympathy and understanding, and scheduled my appointment. When I arrived at their Woodburn office, the two women at the front counter were not in the least bit friendly, welcoming, or professional. Unilocal doesn’t provide me with enough room to give you details; suffice it to say they made me feel like I was intruding on them. They made inappropriate comments about and to other patients while I was there, as well. I filled out the new patient paperwork but told them I would absolutely NOT provide them with my Social Security number, nor my husband’s, as was requested on their forms. When I got to the exam area, the hygienist(can’t remember her name; an older woman) didn’t bother to introduce herself; I had to handle that. She was reasonably pleasant and handled the plastic devices she had to put into my mouth for x-rays as gently as possible. Dr. Wilde appeared without greeting me or introducing himself, and proceeded to give me an exam. I stalled him and TRIED to explain why I was there and what I wanted done, adding that the original woman I’d spoken with on the phone when I scheduled my appointment had ASSURED me the extractions under anasthesia WOULD be done that day. Dr. Wilde was weird. He mumbled more than spoke clearly and was evasive. He told me all that would happen was x-rays and an exam. He NEVER said that oral surgery isn’t performed by him or in the Woodburn office at all! I TRIED to explain to him how upset and frightened I was even of an exam but he didn’t respond and his attitude was that it wasn’t his problem. I had to ask him for a pain-killer Rx, since he wasn’t going to do ANYTHING about my immediate issues. Back at the counter, the woman handed me a «Treatment Case» print-out and went over it with me and my husband line by line. That part she handled in a professional but not very friendly manner; she was actually rather robotic. Then she explained that oral surgery was only performed in their Tualatin office on Fridays by a Dr. Sedaka. I was handed an appointment card for that location. My appointment was for tomorrow and I called today to confirm it AND that I’d be put under for the extractions. The woman I spoke with told me she couldn’t FIND either me OR my appointment! She asked me FOURTIMES what my name was! Once she found my Treatment Case info, she said anasthesia was NOT noted and so she could NOT schedule another appointment for me UNTIL the Woodburn office sent the Tualatin office my records, and that Dr. Wilde would have to approve the anasthesia first! WTF?! Don’t they have a computer system and a freakin’ MODEM to keep all patient info centrally-located and immediately available?! I was so VERY upset I just told her I’d find another dentist and hung up. I absolutely CANNOT recommend this dental company! They are unprofessional, disorganized, vague, and unfriendly. Looking at other reviews, I WISH I’d read them before scheduling my first appointment!
