Visiting from Atlanta; stopped for lunch based on a mention from a friend. Excellent food and outstanding service. I had the clam roll and my daughter had the lobster roll. Anna our server was super nice and tookgreat care of us. Will definitely return on our next visit to Wolfeboro.

Our first time here, late afternoon on a Friday. I can’t really speak to what happens when this place gets very crowded, but moderately populated, on a beautiful late summer afternoon, table outside over looking the water, this was NE seafood perfection. My whole belly clam roll was generous and delicious. My wife had the lobster tacos, special of the day, all the meat of a 1−¼ over their usual fish taco prep. Also extremely generous and very very good. Go during an off hour, get a good table, you won’t be disappointed.

Crowded, hot, loud. The food is average for above average prices. Waiting for a table it took 10 solid minutes for a bartender. The fried clams are decent for New England. The entrees are can based.

I downloaded the Unilocal app just to give this restaurant a five star review. We went as a dinner party of nine, all ordered different things, and we all were extremely impressed and left happy. Food and service were incredible. Not sure what the bad reviews are about– had nothing negative to say about the experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great seafood dinner.

Lobsta rolls, fried clams, great outdoor ambiance, good beer menu. This place is a real gem, great location, great food and professional service, the exact recipe for a lobsta roll and a few brews on summer day.

All in all the whole experience was mediocre. Service was poor, food to average. No reason to go back

Had dinner here over the holiday weekend, busy, of course. It was around 6:45 pm and they had run out of kids fish and chips and raw oysters. They did have little necks that were good and we enjoyed the calamari. I had baked haddock and it was in a lemony sauce over potatoes and spinach. Husband had fried scallops. He wanted broiled but the server dissuaded him because she’d said it would take«really long». Overall the menu lacked interest, it is mostly fried foods. I think that they should have more baked or broiled options along with more oysters. Server was ok, but think she was just lacking training. I would give it another try.

Terrible attitude from the owner… Will never step foot in that place again. Crab cakes were cold…2 drinks and 2 apps= over $ 60.00. Don’t waste your time and money. Seriously!

Great location and atmosphere. We have been coming for years. This place definitely has it’s ups and downs. Had a great experience earlier in the summer with apps and drinks on the patio. Tonight’s meal was a low however. Went with entire family and had slow service and found a nasty hair in the chowder. Ew. Will not be back again this summer. Forgot to mention that the crab cakes, which had been delicious earlier in the season, were fishy and inedible.

My friend suggested we have lunch at the Wolf Trap and it was excellent. We had some fried clams for appetizer and the fish tacos which were excellent. We were in around 2 so we were after the lunch rush and got seated right away. Service was great and fast. I will eat here again.

This place is a total disaster. We waited 25 minutes at the bar to get service. No one offered us a second drink. The bar was busy and the bartender decides that is a good time to windex the counter. She then proceeds to stick her arm in the tub of olives and then take a customers credit card to settle their tab. After an hour and a half of waiting for a table(accurate to their estimate) we are seated. We wait another 25 mins for 2 out of 7 meals to arrive. Then another 20 for the other five to arrive. Food was good. Service was horrific.

Such poor service this evening for our party of 7. No reservations. Called ahead. Advised an hour and a half wait. No problem with that. We will wait in the bar. Unfortunately, the service there was extremely slow. The stacks of dirty glassware piling up behind the bar should have been a clue! Once seated, the minimum expectation is that food for all of party will arrive at the same time regardless of quality or taste. The food was great. Sadly, the service was sub par. Four meals delivered with non existent explanation for three meals delivered after much time had passed. Asked to see manager no less than 3 times! After paying full price for our meal delivery and bar tab(well over $ 300.00 for the evening) do they really expect us to wait for the manager to rear his/her head? COWARDS!!! Extremely disappointed.

Beautiful atmosphere and view of the lake, ok server, disappointing food. Details: We were a party of four and we all ordered 2 lb. lobsters($ 42 each) after the waitress talked them up and 8 oysters as apps. She forgot our apps; they arrived 10 mins after the lobsters. Two of the four lobsters were filled with water and almost no meat. The shells were soft. Disappointing at such a price. The waitress brought the owner, Jim, to our table. He dismissed us and told us, «You can’t ever tell what your going to get. We don’t X-ray them beforehand.» Growing up going to the market and eating lobsters at home, we know there are ways to tell if the lobster is a shedder(soft with little meat inside). Jim didn’t offer to replace the lobster, just $ 5 off each and off he went. His attitude, rudeness, and his quick dismissal of our disappointments were unfortunate.

The fried scallops were delicious! The fish chowder suffered from too many potatoes, and baby shrimp instead of large cut up shrimp. Also, its hard to eat it the way it is served in a mug. A bowl is a better vehicle for soup. The french fries were dry and pretty tasteless. We really liked our waiter Brady, and don’t fault him for what was the most rushed meal I’ve ever had. About 45 seconds after our appetizer and soup was served, the main meal came out. Brady(who did not bring the food out) came over to apologize, stating that the raw bar and soup doesn’t come from the kitchen, so the kitchen doesn’t know that we had apps before our meal. this seems like a really weird way to run a kitchen. I would recommend to the owners that they do something to change this. Also we had to ask for utensils as none were provided.

I had a party of 7 we called ahead and put our name in. They said they usually don’t do that but since our party was big the hostess accommodated us. That was a nice gesture When we arrived we were told it would be 15 minutes. We waited 45 minutes. It was a bummer — we were all starving. I guess the party at the table we were to occupy ordered another round of cocktails and socialized for a while after dinner. I get you can’t ask them to hurry up and leave. We finally got the the table and it was 10 minutes before we saw a waiter. When the drinks arrived I was surprised to see glassware that was obviously cracked. I ordered the lobster roll. It tasted ok but it was a bunch of lobster salad dumped on top of a piece of bread. Hardly a roll, you have to use a knife and fork. I had some pieces of shell in the salad. Oh I also ordered the calamari. I wasn’t impressed it was all tubes no tenticles. An obvious red flag for imitation calamari? Who knows… All in all I won’t go back.

We truly enjoyed our experience at the Wolfe Trap! The service was spectacular and the owner was genuine and attentive to all her customers. We enjoyed the calamari and mussels to start — and the calamari was the best we’ve ever had!(and we’ve had a lot of calamari :) We then split the bouillabaisse and loved the seafood and broth. Let’s not forget the fabulous view from the deck. We liked pulling into the parking lot and seeing the fresh fish market that is part of the restaurant as well :)

I agree with Red H. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful lunch here yesterday. She had the salmon over bed of kale and I had the fish tacos. Both meals were excellent. Fresh fish, cooked well, with deliciously original sides and presentation. I even tasted the kale, and it was great, which I didn’t think possible. We and a few other groups filled the too-small outdoor area — too small because this place should have more room outdoors for people to get here and enjoy this food! Note: fresh fish market next door is always a good sign for a seafood restaurant! !

Updated: As i said, i eat here about once per summer. I ordered a fried clam app. It was great. And i live in Ipswich ma. The fried clam capital. I was there with 5 kids and 2 other adults. That is a hard group to serve and the service was a mess. I will not review the Meal i had because my first review covers it but i wanted to mention the clams — they were memorable.

Walking in we were prepared for the wait as it was a busy night. Had a great time at the bar the young man behind the bar was friendly fast and awesome had great appetizers. Oysters fresh mussels delicious. Then when our table was ready the service went down hill fast. Server took our order then we waited forever for drinks and when we pointed it out to the server he gave us attitude and said he was working on it. At this point the restaurant was very slow. We immediately cancelled our order and left. It’s sad that extremely poor service ruined what seemed like a good restaurant. We will not return!!!

Ok, I am so gladdd I ignored the bad Unilocaling on this place. Re the aesthetics: It has a great view off the back deck. Water and boats and sun. Umbrellas for the UV-shy. As for the food, I can personally attest to three menu items: the fish chowdah, the steamahs and the swordie tacos. They were all TREMENDOUSLY tremendous! The bartender was wonderful– greattt suggestions and a QT pants to boot. Re cost: the price was fine. Earth to matilda: If you want cheap seafood, try the«Whaler» from BK– it’s gonna be big. For the restofus, if you have a few bucks to spend and are looking for a festivus, check this place out! And, as Patton once said, «I shall return!»
