We walked in and were the only people in the entire establishment. I should’ve known by that alone that we weren’t going to have a great dining experience. The staff was very friendly. That was about the only thing they have going for themselves. The food was flavorless, dry, and unsatisfying as a whole. If you’re going to spend that kind of money please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Had a nice dinner here and enjoyed the bar atmosphere. Had a good selection of beer, lots of local stuff. Food takes a little bit of time but we were happy with everything. Salmon and steak with salad, all very good. We will be back!

We haven’t been to Wolfe’s Tavern in years but were so pleasantly surprised after having brunch their today! The eggs Benedict was great and my husband loved his omelette. We shared the biscuits and gravy– a must do! Service was great. It was slow in the dining room but as to be expected for a late breakfast on a Tuesday.

Well it was edible. But, wow, did it fall below expectation. Chewy, burnt chicken, bland food and nothing gave me the impression of being fresh or local(unless they put stuff in cans somewhere locally.) Pretty hands off waitstaff and the place definitely had a local, not so inviting vibe. Prices were much higher than they should be given the quality. Too bad as the atmosphere is nice. Just not a place for a foodie!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. We were staying at the Inn and in my prior hotel experiences I never found the hotel restaurants to be great so I wasn’t expecting much at all. We sat at the bar and it took us a while to be served. There were little gnats flying around. It smelled a little funny. The ceiling hung low and there were endless silver beer mugs hanging from the ceiling. Apparently you have to drink 100 different kinds of beer to get a mug. It was decorated very rustic and with a lot of wood accents. The menu actually looked pretty good and there were a lot of ‘local’ and ‘organic’ features. I’m such a sucker for that kind of stuff… I ended up getting the spinach salad and my bf got the buffalo chicken pizza. Our food was great! The bar definitely seemed like a locals hang out spot. It is a very small town. There were a bunch of people who seemed to know the bar staff, who were too comfortable with their choice of words. The food was good but the place wasn’t terribly clean and the service was a bit slow. They do have an outside patio which is beautiful however. If I stay there again I would be back, probably for late night munchies or hangover brunch.

Ate dinner here all three nights that we stayed at the Inn. We had a different burger each night — Graveyard burger, Caesar burger and Caprese burger– cooked medium rare and were able to get GF «bun» each time. Every meal was great. Service a little slow first night but more than made up for it the next two nights. We were there mid week after Labor Day so don’t know what it is like in season. Rebecca was our server twice. Did a great job. Had dessert the first night. Nutella ice cream and chocolate chai tart was soooooooo good. Too full the other nights!

If you want to be shorted on every front, eat here. Uninspired, overpriced food in a tourist town. Typical.

Was here just this past weekend. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. My party started off with the Calamari which was delicious. I then had the Mac and Cheese Burger which was unbelievable. I also ended up proposing to my girlfriend on this very same night and the whole staff was very accommodating. My girlfriends parents asked to be seat in a completely different area in which they were going to sit us, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. Then after I proposed, throughout the night different members of the staff and management came over to congratulate us. Couldn’t have asked for a better time!

Food, service, and drinks are all excellent here. We came in multiple times over our stay of 4 days. The story behind the mugs hanging from the ceiling is a fun old tradition, and worth asking about. Live music a few nights a week, and it ends up being kind of a sing-along piano bar kind of thing, which is great fun.

My family goes here every year for Christmas Eve and we love it. Great specials, my boyfriend loves the burgers. I’ve had almost everything on the menu at this point. I really like the mussels and they have different kinds depending on the day. Bartender is really great and attentive. Fairly priced and I like the tavern atmosphere with mug club pewter mugs hanging, fireplaces and a moose on the wall.

As far as outdoor lunch spots go, the deck is 5 stars in my book. I went all in and got the Nuclear meltdown burger, which was surprisingly well spiced and not just hot. I really enjoyed it, it was done exactly right and the flavors didn’t overpower one another. Great beer menu and everything I ordered was in stock, I call that a win.

Not good food. High prices. Very, very slow service. Also, for some reason we had the itches ! When I noticed that other diners were scratching their ankles and arms too! What the what?!

Came here to see James Montgomery play in the backyard so I stopped into the tavern to have something to eat. It was a Sunday and they had a breakfast brunch with prime rib. I have already eaten breakfast but I had to try this. The prime rib was delicious and tender and flavorful. The Caper lemon haddock was fantastic.

My wife and I went for dinner on a Saturday evening. She ordered the prime rib special and I got the short rib Shepard’s pie. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and my all of my wife’s food was hot and tasty, but the ‘puck’ of mashed potatoes on my Shepard’s pie was cold and the meat itself was very dry and lacked taste. I mentioned this to my waitress who offered to reheat the potato puck or get me something else off the menu, but I just asked her to pass my comments off to the kitchen. When the bill arrived, my meal was comped, but the meal was still disappointing.

Great food, service, and a live band to top it off! We ordered sirloin steak with two sides and the steak was cooked exactly how we asked and the seasoning was done just right. The Tavern was stylish and above par for a restaurant inside our«Inn.» We later made our way to the bar, which again had an attentive bartender and laid back crowd. Very pleased overall.

I’ve been here twice now, with very different experiences. The first time, I couldn’t get over how gorgeous the place was. Very cozy with a solid«New Hampshire» feel to it. I was with a large group of family following my father’s burial. The staff was very accommodating to us, generous, sympathetic without overstepping boundaries, and the food was great. A lot of us split things — I remember loving the nachos($ 8.95, complete with pico de gallo, jalapeños and olives), the Tavern salad($ 10.95 with roasted fresh pineapple, grilled tomato, bacon and goat cheese — REALLY good), and the house made veggie burger(I’m picky about these — it was so great, and we loved the«create-your-own» option). The cocktails were great as well. Fast-forward to 8 months later, I’m(unfortunately) gluten-free now. Not out of fad, but because I am intolerant and get very sick(ranging from discomfort to VERYVERYVERY sick), so I have to be careful. I have also been a vegetarian my whole life, so I think it’s good to note here that consuming meat would probably not sit well with my digestive system — not to mention completely gross me out. You’ll need this information later. One of my daughters and I were excited to stop by again recently after a visit to my dad(we live in Manchester). It was the tail-end of lunch time, and the place was pretty quiet. It took awhile for a server to come to us, but when she did, she was super friendly and sweet. I appreciated the symbols on menu items that could accommodate a gluten-free diet. I noticed there wasn’t one on the nachos, asked her about it and she said she wasn’t sure why. It took a little convincing to get her to check with the kitchen if they were or weren’t, but she did, and returned to let me know that they WERE gluten-free(I’ll throw that in the tips for all my Celiac homies, as I didn’t get sick after). The portion was huge(I’m talking H-U-G-E and intimidating), and while the flavor was good, only the top layer of the pile had some cheese on them, so once that was gone they were just kind of… chips with jalapeños. I mean, that’s good, too, but. Moving on. For lunch, my daughter ordered the macaroni and cheese(surprise, surprise) and I ordered the Tavern salad again, requesting no bacon. No problem, she took our menus and we kept digging into the nacho mountain. When our server returned with our entrees, my salad clearly had bacon throughout it. I pointed it out, and explained that I can’t have bacon. She apologized and said she’d have a new one right out to me. I asked if it could just be in a to go box, since I was getting pretty full from the appetizer. She returned with the box, I thanked her and chatted with my daughter while she finished her lunch. Out of curiosity, I opened the box. My still-dressed salad(I don’t think normal for a fresh to-go salad) was in there, FULL of pieces of bacon. Clearly, someone in the kitchen attempted to pick out the bacon and return it to me in a box, hoping I wouldn’t notice. I kept peeking around, but couldn’t find my server for awhile(she probably didn’t think we needed her, so she’s forgiven on that one). While waiting for her to return, I picked out about 30 gazillion pieces of bacon. Literally. I took a picture because I was so offended, but I won’t attach it since I’m sure you get it. When I pointed it out to her, she responded with«I’ll have a new one made for you.» Ohhhhhh no thanks, we’ve already tried that before. I’m not trusting whatever’s going on back there. This may seem like not such a big deal, but check this out: 1. It was made known that I CAN’T have bacon, not just that I don’t care for it, and that fact was completely disregarded, which is totally offensive and unacceptable and made me worry about the gluten-free thing for the rest of the day. They don’t know why I can’t have a certain ingredient, and they don’t have to — they were told I CAN’T. 2. Had I not noticed, I would have paid for the salad and gotten back to Manchester(give or take an hour and a half drive) before discovering a salad only destined for the trash. 3. NO manager came to the table to apologize. Even the server, when dropping the check, kind of said«I took that off the bill for you.» after my request for her to do so, as if she was doing me a favor. Maybe I was expecting a manager because I was so offended about someone trying to be lazy and give me back a salad they knew I couldn’t eat rather than make me a fresh one? Okay, that’s enough about bacon. I won’t return, but if you don’t have dietary needs, I WILL say that the food was great during that first visit, even the bathroom is gorgeous, and the location is cute and scenic.

Good food, had the buffalo burger wrap. Drink menu could use some modifications(some more crafty drinks) and the dining room atmosphere could use some updating. The bar area is nice thought, very rustic. If we go back, I would order the buffalo burger wrap and sit in the bar. Service was good no complaints. 3 stars instead of 5 for ambiance/décor and drink selections.

So I waited until my second visit to write a review. The first visit wasn’t great and the second was about the same. First, I’ll start out by saying the atmosphere was nice, comfortable and relaxing. The menu options are decent and the wine list is okay. It’s nice to have a good selection of various wines by glass or bottle. My first dining experience at the Tavern wasn’t great in any capacity. The food and service were sub par. I had a salad with grilled chicken. $ 8.99 for a Caesar and adding $ 6.99 for chicken, I expected a great portion. It was so so. The chicken was dry and for almost $ 16, I was disappointed. Last night, I decided to give it a try. My fiancé and I went and were sat in a cozy booth. While I was comfortable, my 6′ 2″ fiancé found it challenging to sit comfortably without hitting his knee on the pole of the table. We started with the Burrata with asparagus and tomatoes. We were excited because it was mozzarella from a local farm. For $ 10.95, it seemed decent. However, for the portion, it was severely lackluster. There were 2 very thin pieces of garlic bread served and the mozzarella ball was tiny. Thankfully there were 8 asparagus spheres, but we weren’t impressed. My fiancé got the Caprece burger. They say on the menu that they are ½ pound burgers. Working in a restaurant myself, I know what a ½ pound burger looks like. That wasn’t it. At all. It looked like more of a ¼ pound. It was served on a brioche type bun and it was small(probably to accommodate the burger). I decided to go with the farm-raised angus beef burger(also ½ pound… supposedly). It was thin, flavorless and tasted pre-frozen. I added fried avocado(REALLY yummy and worth the $ 2 up charge), grilled pineapple and cheddar. I also got the chipotle aoli on the side which was delightful. Sadly, I found a lengthy blonde hair IN my burger. It happens and was no reflection of my server. She very apologetically and graciously took it back to have remade. Now, what discouraged me was that no manager came over to apologize or see if there was anything I needed. I work in a restaurant, and in a place with the caliber of that restaurant, I feel the manager should come and apologize for the kitchen’s goof. They weren’t that busy and I felt like it spoke volumes of the kind of establishment it really is. Props to Abigail(our server). She was phenomenal, gracious and although she had quite a few tables going, she was calm, composed and equally gracious to all her tables. She’s the only reason I’m giving 2 starts instead of no stars. The kitchen, management and overall quality lost the other 3 stars.

Not a great experience — keep driving. My friends and I went to Wolfe’s Tavern for a bachelorette dinner. We arrived to find there was no parking due to two large events, and had to drive down the road to park. Not a big deal, but would have been nice to know. When I went to the host stand and said my first and last name, the host said she could seat all 6 of us… but we were a party of 10. Awkward moments ensued until the other person with a similar name walked in behind me with her party of 6, which prompted them to find our reservation. Phew — rocky start, but we got our table. Our food… not so much. Once we got all three menus(after asking our friendly server for each one in turn — why not give someone at the table the bar menu… and the cocktail menu… if you serve it?), we ordered and 2⁄10 got soup. Some of us got salad as our meal. Drinks came and were fine, some were cheap and some were a bit overpriced. But the food took forever to arrive. The two cups of soup came out and then we asked for bread. Then we waited and waited. We sat down at 8 and at 9, I flagged down the manager and asked her if she could see where our food was. She came back from the kitchen to say that since we had«a round of appetizers,» the kitchen had only started on the food 25 minutes ago, so it was on time. But not ready yet. I hardly think that two soups in a party of 10 counts as a round of appetizers! I asked for and got more bread. When the food finally arrived about 75 minutes into our dinner, we were all too tired and tipsy to enjoy it, though it was delicious. I had the grilled pineapple salad and the chorizo/challah sandwich. But literally all of us had food left over because we were just exhausted from being there forever. To make matters worse — the manager/host passed us on her way to the wedding reception and shouted over her shoulder«how is everything?» without even looking us in the eye or waiting to get a response. We would have definitely given her one! Ultimately — food is delicious, servers are trying to be nice, but the management and the bad/lackluster response to the delay in food made for an unpleasant evening. It’s clear that the wedding and anniversary party were their top priorities that night, which left us basically as second class diners. Not a fan, and I will not be going back.

Been here once for a brunch with a big family. It was good. Not great. There could have been a way better selection. However I enjoyed the environment. Came back the same week for drinks at night with my boyfriend. I mean what is there to say they have every beer you could want. The martini menu is incredible, and the drinks are delicious! The set back? $ 12 martinis. Not really the price I want to pay in NH, I pay $ 10 for a martini in NYC. However it was a fun night, the bar was lively, and I would go back on a special occasion when I know I am going to spend some money.
