The pizza was great and our waitress Donna almost gets J&M four stars but not quite. My beautiful wife and I go on a crowded Friday after the first long week back after the holidays and we can’t get a table because there is no one to tell us where to sit. We check the lounge and it looks full, so turn around and stand in the take out line. We think the dining room is open but no one and nothing tells us it is. We decide to venture inside and stand there waiting. There is no concierge to lead us in the right direction, and no sign to tell us to seat ourselves. So there we are standing looking at the dining room, hungry and confused. Finally another patron jokes and tells us to seat ourselves and we do. As I ate my good small clams casino pizza that was served on the greasy cardboard you would put into a pizza box right onto the table, I listened to my wife gripe about the stale wine and underwhelming spaghetti and meatballs and watched couple after couple wait at the dining room entrance waiting for direction to sit, or wait for someone to seat them, confused and hungry. Benefit of the doubt. So maybe they were just busy and understaffed as most places are these days which is why I gave 3 and not 2. In the end, better take out than dine in. 3 stars. Thanks to you Donna for great service.

The owner and manager or two of the most arrogant people I’ve ever talk to my entire life. They both have no idea what customer service is nor how to talk to people intelligently. This place is an all time skip it entirely possible they are horrible horrible people.

The food was really good, but I’m giving two stars because the service was terrible!

You can tell how good a restaurant’s food will be by the bread, which was crusty and stale and gross. Even the iced water tasted«off.» I got pasta a la vodka and it was basically a pound of store-bought pasta in butter for $ 17. Definitely not worth your time. Go down the road to New Haven Pizza for a real meal.

Since J&M is just up the road from our house, we have started to come here at least once a month. The food is absolutely great! We have tried items from just about every section on the menu from steaks and seafood to grinders and pizza. The only miss would be the wings. I would suggest skipping those. The service can be right on target or a little on the slow side depending on the waitress you get. No matter what waitress you have, you will get some delicious freshly baked rolls served with oil and parmesan cheese. They are so addicting! Couple of side notes, the restaurant part is only open on the weekends. So, if you plan a trip here on Wednesday/Thursday, only the bar section will be open. It’s plenty big and has booths around the outside perimeter. The portions here are ridiculously huge. I have yet to finish anything I order, including a turkey club! You will most likely be leaving with leftovers. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food and sides you are going to be getting.

I’ve always had a great meal and great service. The bruschetta is delicious. So the reason I give it 4 stars is because last time I was there. 9÷25÷14. There was a waitress who was very rude and incompetent to say the least. And I don’t know if it was because I was upset with the service but the food didn’t taste as good as it usually does. It’s going to take a lot of convincing to go back there after that. But as long as you don’t get whatever her name was, your experience should be good.

The restaurant was split into 2 sections. A sports bar and a dining room. Both were clean and well kept. We had excellent service in the dining area and exceptional food. Lobster rolls and lobster bisque(in a bread bowl) for almost everyone. Hearty portions.

We stumbled across this place and SO glad we did! My family and I went there on a whim since we were a little lost and came into this place. The dining room is not very large, but does have some comfy booths. The bread has to be freshly prepared and made on site, because there is no way it would be that fresh and DELICIOUS. We ordered fried mozz, and that was massive with a nice marinara sauce. My father had the Prime Rib special(easily 18oz) with potatoes and veggies. I got the spigehetti and meatballs(the serving was SOBIG that I had it for lunch two days in a row!) My mother enjoyed a pasta and chicken special while my bf got fried shrimp(they were HUGE). I want to say the service was excellent and we were not rushed or forced to eat quickly. All of the food came in decent time and we took desert home(yummy too, even though the waitress said those were not made on-site) I want to let everybody know how ridiclious the servings are. They are made for 2 people, not 1!!! I had literally ONEPOUND of pasta. It reminded me of a Kitchen Nightmares episode where Ramsey told the business they were«just giving food away», I do not mind because I take it to work for lunch! This place is great, we can’t wait to try it again. All reasonable prices and every dinner comes with soup/salad. I like this place…

My son was down for a visit and convinced us to walk over there for lunch. We sat in the bar, and since the remodeling a few years ago the place seems cleaner and brighter than it used to be. Instead of getting anything off the regular menu which has all disappointed me in the past, I ordered a Philly cheese steak lunch special, which comes with the sandwich and fries. The presentation was decent enough. It came on a nice fancy-pants square plate, decently sized lunch portion grinder with a fair amount of fries. The special was shaved steak with mushroom, onions, peppers and cheese on a ciabatta roll. The roll was fresh and there was a good amount of steak in it. They were a little weak on the veggies, I almost had to search for them in the sandwich, and it could have used more cheese. But overall, not bad compared to what I’ve gotten there in days gone by. The fries were hot, fresh, and not greasy. They were crisp, like they were just cooked, not soft and gooey. The bartender/waitress was friendly enough, but never came back to refill drinks, and was a little slow to get us the check at the end when we were obviously done, but not to the point where I was tapping my feet waiting for her. I’m glad I gave them another chance after all this time. My experience was definitely better than it used to be, and although I probably won’t be running over there a lot, I might be coaxed into going again. If you’ve never been there before, I’d say stay away from the pizza, try one of the specials and hope for the best.

Newly renovated a few years now. They don’t call themselves J&M Pizza anymore. It’s J & M Restaurant and rightly so. Their food is very good. Great specials. Good pasta, hamburgers, steak and seafood. Best Prime Rib fills your whole plate. Most things can be take out but it’s a nice place to stay and eat. I like their food better than their pizza. Good prices. Not just a neighborhood restaurant. Has a nice large bar and lounge With TVs everywhere. Lots of parking.

Clam Strips are good, Calzones are spot on — But the pizza — not really worth it.

I went here once with some friends and it was pretty good food. My only gripe was that the dining room wasn’t open so you had to wait in the bar to grab a booth. I would like to go there again and sit in the dinning room. I’m not sure why it was closed that night because we were there right around 6pm.

A fixture in Wolcott dining for many years, J & M has been somewhat recently updated and the results are very encouraging! The new additions the restaurant are beautiful and add up to create a very pleasant dining experience. J&M has a nice big bar area with tables and booths. Beer selection was small, but had some good options like City Steam’s Naughty Nurse. Food was well prepared and delicious. The menu was pretty standard Italian restaurant fare, but they had some great specials, like the Eggplant Ravioli I had. J&M has definitely raised the bar and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good Italian meal in the Wolcott area.
