University of Virginia’s College At Wise

I’m not sure if it’s possible to sum up all my feelings about Clinch Valley College/​UVA-​Wise. It was and remains an imporant part of my life.
But I can briefly say I don’t regret a moment of it. I love the college and the small town atmosphere. The people are great. Courtesy is reciporicated. People actually say «hello» back to you. It’s safe… one time I accidentally left my car unlocked for a week, and nothing happened to it. Administration does a wonderful job of keeping alumni informed and involved.
When I attended, the campus was open and beautiful. It felt alive seeing people play intramural sports on McCraray field (now a parking lot drainage basin or «campus lake» as they call it). I understand things change, but I’m not impressed with the changes to the campus. They’ve lost a tremdous amount of intimacy. Perhaps even their identity.
All the same, based on my time there and what the campus was when I attended, I have to give it five stars.
