Great experience from start to finish. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was perfectly pleasant. She always arrived just before my husband or I would need something and constantly checked on us. We decided to go with the combo. They offer a ‘pick two’ or ‘pick three’ option. We went with rotisserie chicken, smothered BBQ ribs, and brisket. We ordered the plain mac-n-cheese and sweet corn bread for our sides. The only letdown was that the cornbread was cold. The chicken was moist, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the brisket had a nice smokey flavor. Also wish they had chocolate ice cream on their dessert menu. Not sure if this place is a franchise. We went to a restaurant with the same name in Tennessee and they were great as well. We will definitely return here when we come back into town.

I went here for supper with my wife. We were immediately seated by an attentive hostess and informed our waitress would be by shortly(which she was withing a couple minutes). She handed out menus and took our drink orders. They have coke products and a wide variety of alcohol including a good selection of Wisconsin beers. Our order ended up as follows: 2 cokes Border-Style Quesadilla w/pulled pork(could have also picked chicken) French Dip(her) Texan Triple-Smoke Burger(me, medium well): Our fresh 6 oz. burger, smoked, with minced garlic, worcestershire sauce, our BBQ rub and steak seasoning grilled to your temperature preference. Topped with smoked pepperjack cheese, onion straws and a thin layer of smoked boursin cheese spread on a toasted golden bun with crisp lettuce and tomato. The quesadilla was absolutely amazing, 5 of 5. My wife rated the French Dip a 4 of 5 and I would rate my burger a 3 of 5. There was nothing wrong with my burger, it was good, just nothing amazing. Our total meal came to about $ 37 w/o tip. The waitress came back a number of times to check on us and was always prompt with our soda refills. Excellent service. Food: 3 of 5 Service: 5 of 5 Overall: 4 of 5

We were in the mood for some barb-e-que and it had some decent reviews, so we thought we would check it out. It was a Monday night, about 7:00ish. There were a handful of people eating dinner. I had the half chicken dinner, bake potato, and side salad. The salad was of all the parts you probably put down the garbage disposal. The leafs were yellowish with a brown edges. If you ever microwaved a potato too long, the potato gets dryed out and hard. I do not think that the Alamo microwaves their baked potato’s but that is what it reminded me of. I believe the meal was suppose to come with bread, but didn’t receive any. The chicken was ok. The kids got a cheese burger and apple slices with a packet of camel sauce. The apples were the kind at the store that nobody buys. The slices came out brown and were soft, not crisp. They were out of chocolate milk and did not offer fries. Kids did not eat much of their food. Wife got a pulled pork sammy, and she liked it. I had one beer and it was ice cold, which was refreshing. The restaurant is not located close to the kalahari, great wolf, wilderness, etc. It is located closer to the historic downtown area. It was not convenient to get to. If I was only going to be in town for a couple of days, I would not go back. It may be a different atmosphere in the summer.

Last night, after getting checked in at the hotel, we went to Alamo Smokehouse for dinner. They got 4 stars on trip advisor, but we did not have that experience! I was worried when we walked in the door to an almost empty restaurant, on a Friday night, but chalked it up to being the off-season. The wings were the most edible part of the meal, but some weren’t cooked enough. The side salad was a iceberg mix from a bag and was pre-assembled so far in advance that the tomatoes were frozen and I couldn’t eat the salad for 30+ min because it was too cold for my teeth! Then they topped it off with store-bought croutons… The chipolte ranch dressing was very tasty, at least lol! My steak was barely cooked and not seasoning. The sauteed mushrooms seemed to be from a can and tasted like an ashtray. And the shrimp skewer ended up having a cilantro lime marinade(not stated on the menu) that tasted like a wet nap or other lemon-scented cleaner! Tom’s ribs and chicken were bad, as well, but his sides were ok(even though I thought it looked like boxed Velveeta mac n cheese). Thankfully, the manager ended up comp’ing the entire meal so we left only paying a tip to our friendly and helpful waitress!

Let me start by saying my family and I are definite foodies. We’ve never tried this place and wanted BBQ. First, service was friendly. We ordered beef brisket, & smoked half chicken. The brisket was dry and had almost a «processed» texture to it. The chicken was good, and decently flavored. The sides we ordered were mashed potatoes and mac ‘n cheese. I’ve had better on both of those. Other mac n’ cheese sides here in Wisconsin were drowned in thick cheese, and what we got at Alamo was on the runny side. Lastly the mild BBQ sauce they had at the table was a bit on the sweet side, and the corn bread brought to the table was extremely moist and very sweet. True {southern} cornbread is definitely not that soft and not that sweet. I am used to having cornbread made with more cornmeal, where this appears to be made with more all purpose flour and sugar. So, not the absolute worst BBQ joint, but I’d say it could be much better, especially if you are a real foodie as we are.

We stopped at this restaurant expecting to find the Pedro’s Mexican restaurant that this place once was. After doing a bit of looking on the internet about this place, we decided to try it. We weren’t sure if they were even open as there were hardly any cars in the lot, considering that it was lunch time on a Sunday. We were immediately greeted and seated. The menu has a lot to offer and our meals were really good. We were surprised that there were so few people there. Hopefully it’s because they’re new and people don’t know about them yet?

Great food, excellent price and portion. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. The Alamo burger was a master piece of flavor and perfectly cooked bacon patti and charred bun! I will be going here every time I visit the area! Also they have a salad that has steak in it which was absolutely delicious

This is a new restaurant that opened recently in the former Pedro’s, and the change from mediocre Mexican fare to well-executed barbecue is welcome indeed. We began with the barbecued pork shank for an appetizer; the sauce was flavorful, and the meat fell off the bone — a very pleasant start. I had the sampler platter duo of ribs with spicy sauce and the pulled pork, and my companion had flat iron steak with the bacon onion lingonberry topping. The meats on both were all excellent; however, the topping on the steak was a bit flat — something that sounded much better than it turned out to be. Both of us had coleslaw as a side, which was fair(so-so dressing, but the cabbage was crisp); the complimentary corn muffin was a tad too sweet. My other side was Yukon gold mashed potatoes, which were excellent. My companion’s other side was the Alamo 24 pilsner.(Yes, that right — one of the side options included in the meal is a beer. How cool is that?!) Beware that you can’t substitute for it, though; it’s brewed for the house, so perhaps that is part of why you have to take that if you opt for the beer. We had the salted chocolate and caramel crunch, which was delicious. The portion size at first glance was small, but it is a very rich dessert so it actually was perfect — a little went a long way! Overall, we had a very good meal. With it’s good food, friendly and attentive service, and relaxed atmosphere, this is a welcome addition to the Dells dining scene.

What a great new restaurant for the Dells. Husband and I had combos, which included ribs, brisket and chicken. Wanted to try a little of everything. Everything was amazing, tender, flavorful. Portions were pretty large, so had plenty of leftovers. The spicy mac and cheese and coleslaw for sides were also great! We ate at the bar and bartenders were super friendly and provided great service. Can’t wait to come back!

The smoked meat is ok, nothing special sauces are the same. Outside of the smoked meat everything we had was simply unremarkable, I’d personally suggest you can get better for your money elsewhere.
