Looking for super friendly Maine?, stop in here. Garbage can omelette was excellent, home made bread was great and perfectly toasted, wife’s turkey BLT was also perfect. Definitely not fast food or a fast atmosphere. If there is enough, they will sell you a loaf of bread, instant favorite.

The food is magnificent! It is a family owned and run restaurant. They have the best sweet potatoe corned beef hash you’ll ever try. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 was the run-down feel of the restaurant. Other than that I will continue to return here!

For a party of 10 campers and a small location — Ship’s Chow was amazing. The owner served us & once I learned their Hash was homemade, I had to try it, glad I did because it was perfect & my daughter is now a fan as well. The fruit cup was epic. All in all the Ships Chow was above bar and the food was delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend them.

Awesome. Randomly stopped in on the way home from boothbay. I had sweet potato hash special that was awesome. My fiancé had the eggs bene that was also delicious. Staff was very accommodating and let me design my own meal. Good coffee too. I couldn’t believe when I got the check how affordable it was too!

This is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered! Seats around 40, in booths and two large tables. Conveniently located on US route 1 in Wiscasset, you might pass it by. Don’t! My meal was prepared exactly as I requested, with several changes to the menu description. Not a problem! Everything was cooked to order and served with a smile. The strawberry shortcake was generous, and on a homemade biscuit. All their breads are also freshly baked on premises I will definitely return — and often!

This restaurant is only good if you are a local. There was only one waitress serving the entire place, and her focus was on regulars. We spent nearly 2 hours on a breakfast because the waitress simply never came to our table. We were not greeted upon entry, were not offered drinks, my order was wrong, no checking back, no coffee refills, and a good 15 min wait just to try to pay. It was really a crappy exoerience. I wanted to like it because the food was decent, but the service was so horrendous, I will never return. I hope maybe they may consider at least acknowledging guests in the future, so that they know they are not being ignored. It would behoove them to add at least one or two more servers to the floor so they can keep up. I understand they may have regulars, but the retention rate of new customers cannot possibly be good with their current level of service.

We were hesitant to eat here due to some reviews saying that only locals were welcome, but we didn’t have any issues and didn’t feel unwelcome at all. It is a sit wherever there is a free seat kind of place, which was the only thing that made us stand out the first time we went. I give them 5 stars because the owner served us and was extremely friendly, the homemade corned beef hash was the BEST I’ve ever had, and the homemade bread was impressive. It is definitely a hole in the wall kind of place, but you can’t beat a place that retains quality while costing $ 20 for 3 meals and two sides.

Good reviews? Really? I don’t know if we walked into a wormhole or something when entering this dingy dive, but we were not impressed by any aspect of our experience. We were not greeted at the door, and obviously surrounded by locals who could smell the«from away» on us. We were told to choose a table(there was only one clean option). We sat down and seemed to be troubling the waitress by being there. The regulars seemed to be experiencing another restaurant entirely. We were never offered refills of beverages(coffee). We asked for syrup(3 of the people in our party had breakfasts that needed syrup) and none came. Bad service is one thing– there are places with lacking service that have phenomenal food, so you deal with the service. This food was less appetizing than, say… McDonald’s? Did I mention unclean? Because yeah… that too. So– if you haven’t already been eating at this place for 20 years, I don’t recommend you try it out. You won’t be welcomed and you won’t get good food. Period.

I stopped here based upon Unilocal reviews. What a find! Tina is so fun, sat right down with me to talk menu. Couldn’t decide on which homemade toast, so she brought me blueberry toast and rye toast. Homemade corned beef hash! Definitely a local hangout, she knew everyone’s name. I wish we had a place like this at home!

After many decent reviews, my family(my wife and I, sons(5 and 1) tried this place for a quick, decent bite. We were staying in Wiscasset for the week. Well, we kept on waiting for the charm that people were talking about. And waiting… and waiting… Nope, no charm. Upon arrival, there were 2 – 3 tables of regulars… the rest of the tables, besides the one we sat at, were dirty. The waitress told us to sit anywhere, and that there was a high chair in the doorway. The high chair should have been a giveaway. it was like floor-of-movie-theater kind of dirty… much like the rest of the place. I dont know who said the place was clean… it wasnt. Disgusting carpets, torn up booth benches, peeling wallpaper, gross windows. Small and quaint is one thing… filthy is another. Ordered — basic stuff(pancake special, kids pancake, french toast). Coffee has now sat empty so long the cups were almost dry — all this as the waitress took care of(and refilled coffee of) local regulars. Food comes out — we ask for more coffee and syrup for all three things — she never came back with the syrup, never brought more coffee… then told us «you should have come up for the syrup». Really? Or, maybe you should have brought it. By that point, all we wanted to do was leave… but the waitress took 10 – 15 minutes to get us the check, because she was too busy providing service and conversation to regulars. Food was fine… you know, dry, with no butter or syrup, but passable. Doesnt make up for the terrible atmosphere and bad service. (Oh, and another pet peeve… just because this is a «local» place, dont get ticked at us for coming, other customers… and heaven forbid we bring our CHILDREN! One old lady came in, turned to the right to come down our row of tables, saw my one year old, and muttered loudly, «Cant sit THERE… there’s a LITTLE problem here», in reference to my son.) LIke I said, the food was OK(at best), but would have been better with a simple follow up from the waitress, who, NO, was not serving a full restaurant… maybe 4 – 5 tables. Bottom line, is that we never felt comfortable in the place… the service, feeling like outsiders, the cleanliness of the restaurant itself… it could have been an off day, and Unilocal has steered us right most of the time, but this place, this day, was terrible for us.

I love this place everything is made fresh and the owner(Tina) is the server. I will say it’s one of those places you would pass by if you did not know better. The outside is a little rough but don’t let that discourage you from stopping. It clean inside and food is outstanding and at very reasonably priced. Great place i stop by whenever i’m in area.

Easy access on Rt. 1 in Wiscasset, easy parking, doesn’t look like much on the outside, but the service was quick and friendly, and my simple breakfast was perfectly, expertly, and deliciously cooked. The«Louisana» hot sauce was perfect. Comfortable country music plays on the stereo, and there were plenty of locals catching breakfast when I stopped in mid-morning. The coffee was okay. Breakfast all day and opening at 5.

Just moved to ME and stumbled across this place — boy, am I happy I did. The place is a little small and run down, but it has such a lovely charm to it. The food is great and customized to whatever you want. Omlettes and crepes are our favorites. All the bread is homemade and yummy. Have to give special thanx to the owner — she really makes you feel at home. She heard that we had just moved in… gave us a free loaf of bread to welcome us. Hoping to become regulars here.

This is a real gem. We stopped in after driving by for several years and kicked ourselves for missing the boat. The food is great, good solid Maine cooking served with a great attitude. Don’t drive by — stop and be pleasantly surprised!
