Well, I tried to go to this place to day and it was closed. it sounds great, but they are not open during their advertised hours. I also tried to call to see if perhaps they moved locations and it said on their voice mail that they are by appointment only for food. So… huge bummer. I was meeting my sister and winters was a good place to meet since I live in Sac and she is in Vacaville… oh well.

Totally farm-fresh deliciousness. Sat in the front sofa area and it was like being served in a friend’s living room.

I experienced my first visit to Briggs/Fortify this past Friday evening and I must say, the food we had was very, very tasty! Everyone in our group loved their meal and I can’t wait to go back for another visit. The owners are wonderful and it is obvious that they live their lives in a healthy, grounded and connected way. It was great to watch them share their knowledge of healthy living with others. I appreciated the fact that a couple came in well after the place was closed looking for coffee(I was still there talking with friends) and Shaunie immediately jumped up to help them. I didn’t have a chance to visit the art yard outside, but I am looking forward to checking it out. The various types of art inside the restaurant were fantastic. It is a must visit destination and I wish them much success.

Briggs & Co is a fun place to visit. They have art that appeals to many different tastes, from oil paintings of local landscapes to amazing metal sculptures done by the Briggs themselves. They have tons of animal drawings by different artists, painted scarves, glass, ceramics, jewelry, some clothing, and even fancy tea and bath salts. It’s a large space that’s nicely arranged, with art in every crook and corner. Outside there’s a yard featuring the metal sculpturesm including fountains and bird baths, and an old run-down bus from the 70’s that’s filled with lighting fixtures and metal objects. I also enjoy the wide price range of their products — the metal sculptures and paintings go into the thousands of dollars, but you can also buy painting replications in the form of magnets and cards that are under $ 10. A nice relaxing afternoon in Winters: stop by Steady Eddy’s or Putah Creek Café for some coffee and lunch or afternoon snack then head over to Briggs & Co for some fun browsing.
