Salem Creek

First off its saddens me to write this review with a 1 star rating. I loved this place right up till my last experience which was over the weekend. I have found memories of going to this store with my mom when I was growing up and have made it a tradition to go at least once around this time of year to pick up a new christmas decoration. I went in around 7:30 and non of the workers greeted me the whole time. They did see me as they starred at me and instead of talking to me they choose to not say anything or talk to their coworkers instead… I couldn’t believe the rudeness. I should have just left and not have brought anything but I fell in love with a Moravian Star candle holder that I just had to have. I was mad at myself the whole time I was purchasing it because I knew I should have just walked out empty handed due to the treatment I received… The cashier upstairs where I purchased the item did talk to me. but since i was a inch from her face making a transaction I guess she had no choice. This review is mainly for all the workers that were on the downstairs sales floor. Esp the woman right at the front door who starred me dead in the eye and didn’t say welcome or hi or anything… Now everytime I look at the candle holder I don’t even find joy in it. I just think of the bad experience. I feel like I should return it but don’t even want to waste the gas or my time returning to this store.

I just love having a nearby store that is always decked out with holiday cheer! I do find some items are pricey, however, they change the seasonal items very often… Whether it’s a holiday in spring, summer, autumn or winter… They have it!
They always have coffee or a yummy new warm cider to sample which I enjoy and often end up getting too! The staff is very helpful when I can’t find something because they rearrange the store each time thy have new items. I do think it can be overwhelming at first glance because they have so many items often times tucked into displays or decorating trees so I miss out finding the specific piece that’s shown as part of the whole display.
They also have an upstairs area with more décor and that’s also where they have The Snow Village section is very well organized (including different themes and seasons) and even has retired pieces which I love also! If you ever want to perk up your mood, definitely stop by even to browse because it’s pretty hard not to leave smiling after leaving such a cheerful, colorful and bright experience! The parking can be hard, but they also have parking under the store!
I learned today that not only do they have the samples of coffee and cider, but they have a Coffee Club! They even grind the beans there for you and have many flavors! Instead of syrups to flavor the coffee, the beans are flavored! I definitely had too much fun today checking out Halloween items, the Pumpkin Spice coffee and also the new ornaments they received!!! I didn’t realize I had spent almost 2 hours in there!

I revisited Salem Creek to take a look at the Spring line of Vera Bradleys and was pleased to report that the wait staff in that department were pleasant… of course, the woman who waited on me works there only occasionally, but even those who have previously come across as haughty seemed more down-​to-​earth. Perhaps public reviews do work. Or perhaps someone complained to management.
