Belk

This mall is absolutely HUGE!!! I have been stalking these Vince Camuto boots that were $ 269 and now on sale for $ 70.00. As I starting driving from Raleigh to Winston Salem, I called to have them put them on hold. I got there in under 2 hours and my boots were waiting for me. The best road trip ever!!! Excellent Customer Service and seamless checkout.

I love (d) Belk. As I am sitting here writing this review I am wearing $ 800 worth of Belk merchandise… That being said I am incredibly disappointed with the poor customer service I received in the ladies shoe department today. I purchased a pair of $ 400 Frye boots last November at Belk and after 3 months of wearing the boots the rubber part of one of the boots came off and caused the wooden heel to split. I attempted to exchange them today after being told to «just bring them in and talk to Gayle (the manager) and it shouldn’t be a problem» from a salesperson via telephone. When I got to the cash wrap the woman working behind it finished checking out a customer and when she finished quickly walked away while I was standing there only to come back a few minutes later and say «someone will be right with you» and roll her eyes. I waited another 5 minutes and she was that someone. I explained what happened with my boots and what I was told over the phone and she began to interrupt me saying that it was past 180 days and I didn’t have a receipt to which I replied that I realized it was past the allotted time for returns but I wasn’t wanting to return an item I was unhappy with instead, I was simply trying to exchange an item due to manufacturers defect. I requested to speak to a manager and instead the woman went and got a male co-​worker who described himself as a «shoe specialist» (a glorified salesperson) and told me that regardless of a manufacturers defect that because it had been past 180 days he couldn’t exchange the shoes. I once again nicely requested to speak to a manager so the male salesperson called a manager «Tim» who asked the salesperson a series of questions over the phone only to show up and look at me while I was talking with the salesperson and walk away. I ultimately was told that manufacturers defects don’t matter after 180 days and that they refused to do the exchange. I was also told to contact Frye which I did immediately after leaving Belk and I was told by the Frye company that without a receipt (who keeps their receipts for a year?) I would need to contact Belk. Absolutely pathetic customer service I will NEVER buy Frye boots from this store again. Nordstrom (who has great customer service) will be receiving my money from now on.

They have really spiffed up this place. It used to be a little bit run-​down, but they’ve spruced it up and it looks fabulous. A few times, I seem to recall they had a young kid there playing the piano for tips which was interesting.
I think that they would do better if they’re shooting for Nordstrom’s effect to actually hire a pianist. However, the prices are pretty reasonable and the new logo is growing on me, although it does remind me of the failed GAP logo.

Cosmetics, shoes for the family, men’s and ladies’ designer sportswear, men’s clothing & furnishings, and fine china are the strongest departments. Notable brands include MAC, Chanel cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Lily Pulitzer, Kate Spade, St. John, Hart Shaffner & Marx, Cole Haan, Coach, Vineyard Vines, Lacoste, Lenox and Waterford. There is also a fur salon and an optical department.
If you like department stores, you’re not going to go wrong with Belk Hanes Mall.
