I love it when we come across unexpected pleasures. This little rest stop just west of Winnemucca on I-80 is a great place to stop, take a break and maybe even have a picnic. It is directly off I-80 so is hardly even out of your way. It is a cool, shady green oasis in the midst of the sagebrush. They have functioning and relatively clean public restrooms and a grassy area for resting or walking or playing, and shaded picnic tables. There are also signs and plaques that provide information about the rich history in the area. The park seems well maintained. A highly recommended stopping spot.
