How have I lived in the area for 13 years and never eaten here??? Was meeting a friend for lunch and wanted something quick. Giagnorio’s came to mind since she lives in Winfield. The first surprise was the amount of indoor and outdoor seating they had. I always assumed it was take out only. The next surprise was the Italian sub — it was one of the best I ever had. There wasn’t any skimping on the ingredients which were fresh and high quality. I had it toasted, which I think made it all that much better. My friend and I splurged on one of their homemade desserts — a turtle brownie. This capped off a great lunch!

I have had several of the sandwiches. The Italian sub was very good. The barley soup was excellent. They have a lot of desserts and a frozen food case as well. Going to get some of the frozen items for later on my next visit.

Waiting 40 minutes for two Italian subs is ridiculous when there are only 5 others that are waiting? Not gonna happen again.

I travel 30 mins to eat here often. I love the sandwiches, soups and desserts are better then any place I’ve ever eaten. The staff is so friendly and always happy to help. My favorite is the special turkey pesto panini.

Great little sandwich shop, the three most important things in sandwich making is Fresh, Fresh, Fresh ! The cute little gal of Italian Decent, is so busy putting her heart and soul into preparing your Freshly made to order sandwich. She hardly has time to look up and say hi. Vicki works her tail off trying to satisfy everyone’s craving. Salads are pre-made, still fresh and delicious. I recommend trying all of them. Deserts, homemade, she must bake all night long. Banana cream pie — big, could satisfy a few. Want a bottle of beer with your lunch? 3 $ bucks ! Prices on everything are very reasonable. Specials every day, check the website. Sometimes I pay an extra 2 $ bucks for extra meat. I call that the Scooby Doo version !! We are lucky to have a place like this ! You go Vicki !!

I am very impressed by this little deli. I came in at 3:30(me just not thinking about looking at the times on the door) and after I realized they were closed they were so friendly and kind, they told me they could make me something, customer service was excellent! I got the ham and swiss and goodness it was so fresh and delicious! They ham was sliced so thin but piled high(which makes it taste 10x better for some reason) the bread and veggies were so fresh, and the cheese was also cut a little thicker to add the right amount to the taste. The best sammich I’ve had in a long time! I will be returning very soon(during regular hours of course!)

Some people seem to really like this place but I think it is overpriced for sub sandwiches and I don’t like the bread that they use. It is very flaky and makes a huge mess. Overpriced food and a messy product are not things I would want to do again. But many people seem to like the place. You’re paying $ 10 – 15 for a 6 inch sub with chips… there are so many better options.

My wife and I stopped in for sandwiches a couple days ago. This was our first time there and I honestly couldn’t be more impressed. The service was beyond friendly and welcoming. I actually walked in a few minutes before their closing time and asked if it were ok for me to order. They seemed shocked I would even ask and welcomed me to take my time. My wife had the roast beef and I had the Italian sub. These were by far the best deli sandwiches we have ever had. Certainly the best in the area. They are HUGE sandwiches that are packed with meat! They were neatly made and tasted incredible. They offer a combo for $ 8.75 that includes chips and a drink, and for the quality, you just can’t beat it. If you’re in a debate on whether or not to stop in, end the debate! Go in NOW!

I’ve been to this hidden gem quite a few times and can’t believe I hadn’t reviewed… so here we go. This deli is the best! I wish I could give 6 stars. They provide this perfect combination of everything you want in a deli experience. It’s a family run establishment and you can definitely taste the love and passion in their food!!! The hours are limited, because this is really just a lunchtime deli, but if you can get here during lunch, it’s SO worth it. In a nutshell: The prices are great, customer service is warm and friendly, the portions are huge, everything is super fresh, ALL the food is GOOD, homemade from scratch soups, and huge homemade from scratch desserts. SERIOUSLY!!! I always love a delicious and filling lunch for less than $ 10! I usually get the Italian sub combo for $ 7.75. It comes with a half a sandwich, fountain drink, and a small bowl of soup. The half sandwich is so big, it’s really a whole sandwich and it’s always beautifully put together with the perfect amount of each fresh topping and meat. They can make any sandwich you want as well, I’ve had a tuna melt, grilled cheese, roast beef sandwich and they were all phenomenal. I can’t say enough about the soups. They offer 2 different soups each day. They’re made fresh from scratch everyday and I’ve never tasted a bad soup here. I’ve tried several soups for the 1st time and I’ve never been disappointed. You can taste the freshness in every bite! They also have salads, which are huge, fresh, and taste wonderful as well. You can opt to have a half salad salad and soup combo or half salad and sandwich combo too. I LOVE the Greek salad and again, the half size is more than decent. Can’t end this without mentioning the desserts… they’re amazing! My personal faves are the cheesecake, HUGE chocolate chip cookies, and the brownies. All the desserts are large enough for 2 – 3 people to share and they are homemade from scratch everyday as well. If you’re looking for a deli in the area, STOPHERE… you will not be disappointed. They get quite a line, but it moves fast.

This review is for the Carrot Cake, as I have not dined in on their sandwiches due to my work hours. Angie, who runs Gianorio’s Pizza in Winfield, transfers the desserts over to her establishment after Vicki, who runs the Deli, closes shop for the day. A world without the Giagnorio’s serving the Winfield area is one that I never want to live in. The Carrot Cake is by far the best dessert I’ve ever had. Period. Bar None. There is no doubt in my mind that if you try this cake, you will not be disappointed. The combination of the cream cheese frosting, the rich cake filled with walnuts and carrots, and the pure euphoria that is baked into it makes it divine. This isn’t to say the other desserts Vicki makes aren’t great, but even for someone who loves chocolate, vanilla, and every cake in between, this Carrot Cake is the THEBEST. I’m positive the deli has fantastic sandwiches, but I can and will not comment until I try them first hand. Until then, I’ll continue to enjoy the pure bliss that is Giagnorio’s Carrot Cake.

At first I loved this place. I think their food is delicious. Definitely the best deli I have ever had. I only rate it a 4 because of the inconvenience of their hours. I will now work M-F in aurora so there is no way I’d be able to eat here anymore. I wish they were open on the weekends because I would definitely go more often.

Nothing warms up a gloomy winter day like Giagnorio’s Deli(formerly Gianorio’s Deli). The pizza place under the same name down the road is amazing, so this was expected. They have a ton of specials and the whole place is really nice. The carrot cake is the one thing you need to order. If you don’t, I’ll probably buy it. It doesn’t have to be flashy like other chains and their $ 510 inch sandwiches. Or burritos the size of your head. When did society get to the point where we judge food based on quantity rather than quality? If you want more of the latter, come to this deli. It’s small, there’s not a ton of seating, and the restaurant is in an old house. It fits very well in Winfield since the downtown area is so small. This place has the best soup I’ve ever had. I’m not lying. Hook me up to the lie detector, Maury.

Love this place for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are all great(they better be for 7 bucks!) they have good soups too, and have frozen entrees to buy as well. I’ve had the lasagna rolls which were good, and come with garlic bread. I took one star off for the wait time. I know they make everything from scratch but it always seems to feel a bit longer than necessary for a sandwich.

Once I realized this place was here, I’ve been a fan ever since. Luckily, through conversation with the owner and chef sandwich maker, also turned me on to some of the best pizza ever… Gionario in Winfield. I always get the special sandwich of the day, and it is always yummy. My fiancée loves the veggie wrap. .and when we are feeling naughty, we will grab some pie, brownie or lemon bar which is the best around. She also supplies these treats to the pizza joint, so we can grab them there too! I’ve also grabbed their scratch made pesto, which is a generous amount for the price, when I an feeling lazy enough to not make some myself :).

First let me guess that at some point the name changed… The storefront says Giagnorio’s Deli! Anyway, had the special of the day a caprese! It was absolutely delicious! To die for! Pasta fagioli tasted a little like spaghettios… So I don’t think I’d get that again. I may try another soup a different day. My fiancé came across this place the other day… Surprised me with a strawberry crime cake… Sooooo good!

Gianorio’s is a nice little hidden deli. I’ve known about it for a while, but due to their hours I haven’t been able to stop by. I had the day off yesterday and decided it would be the day to check them out. I arrived about 1 p.m. so some of the lunch crowd was filtering out, but both the inside and outdoor seating areas were pretty full. Other reviewers have raved about the Italian sub, and luckily that’s my go-to, so I ordered one with everything and a small fountain drink. I waited about roughly ten minutes for my order, which was a bit longer than expected. I guess there was an issue with the person who ordered before me, which caused a delay for my order. Not a huge deal, as I wasn’t in a hurry to get anywhere. Finally my name was called. I grabbed my order and made my way back to my car. I opened the well wrapped sub to discover one of the biggest subs ever. But that’s where the goodness ended. While the sandwich had all the ingredients I would have expected(Capicolla, salami, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion, house italian dressing on crusty italian bread — per the menu online), whoever made it did a sloppy job. Rather than putting the dressing on the bread itself, it was splashed on the meat and cheese. This caused everything to slip and slide around, make each bite difficult. I’d take a bite and the meat would slide off, or the tomato, or the cheese. Very frustrating. The tomatoes were a good Roma variety, but I felt they were sliced a bit too thick and thus overpowered the rest of the sandwich. I think shredded lettuce would have been a better alternative to the leaf version. I would have loved a side of hot peppers but they charge for that, and I have a huge jar of it at home(thanks, Costco). A small fountain drink and the sub cost me over $ 8– no chips. After a few bites, I wrapped my sandwich back up and headed home, slightly disappointed. I will say that the quality of the ingredients exceeded my expectations, the employees were friendly, and their deserts look delicious. But due to their hours, I probably won’t go back. I’ve had better Italian subs elsewhere, and I can’t justify going out of my way for one that fell apart all over the place. It’s a shame because I’m all about supporting local businesses.

Since I am a huge fan of Gianorio’s pizza, I was 100% certain I’d love the deli, too. I’ve had three chances to experience this place… The first, I ordered a legendary carrot cake for my daughter’s birthday. Ordering and pickup were smooth, and everyone loved the cake(because they have brains and taste buds). Second, I stopped in for dessert with a group of five, including my two little ones. Everyone loved what they ordered, especially the Nutella and salted caramel cupcakes. I had a banana cream pie, and it was pretty amazing — BUT, better enjoyed at home, because the cheap plastic utensils provided in shop are not good enough to penetrate the crust. You need a real fork or spoon. Third, just yesterday, I came for lunch with my kids. As usual, we had to make a bathroom trip after ordering our sandwiches, so I left my empty cup, my receipt, and our number on the table as a way of letting whoever brought our food know where we were sitting. Well, when we emerged from the bathroom, the table was empty. Apparently, they had cleared it as if it had all been abandoned. I had to seek out an employee to determine what had happened, and then ask for our food and a new cup item by item. In such a small shop, and without anyone else waiting for food, I think they could have done some detective work and given me much better service. As far as the food we had at lunch, my son’s turkey sandwich on multigrain was good. I asked them to hold the cheese, which they did not, but I was able to at least peel it off. I had the special, a turkey and pesto panini, and I only ate half of it. Rare for me, as I have a large appetite. But it was so salty and unappealing, I was quite surprised. I think they need to rework that sandwich, or at least fix their salty pesto. I’ll be back to pick up dessert again, I’m sure, but that’s probably all. Disappointing.

Something off the beaten path, I let Unilocal bring me to a one-off not-chain restaurant. Different. A sandwich place unlike Subway or Quiznos or anything like that. Hand prepared kinda like the way I would do it if I was a sandwich maker. The menu board is clearly written out but my mind was changed when I saw the special. Something called a «Danno» and it had bacon and melted cheese. Well, that’s a sale right there. When it was brought to my table, it also had avocado on it. Grilled and awesome. Soda fountain and some bottled drinks too.
