In town for a funeral, with lots of family and no time to cook. Some of the local fam recommended it so off we went. Building and facilities are run down, but the food was excellent! Eight bucks for dinner with, drink included, can’t beat that :) Not a bad dish out there. Recommend: fried green tomatoes, cabbage, greens, brunswick stew, cornbread(not sweet, hooray), fried chicken livers, dry rub ribs, pulled pork(sauce on side), fried chicken, cream gravy, banana pudding. CCM playing on the stereo and super nice wait staff… we don’t live in the south any more but our meal here was a sweet reminder of everything we miss… great food, nice people and an all around gentle groove. High marks!!!

Gross! Not good country cooking. Cheap but you get what you pay for. Go to Cracker Barrel instead. I’m used to good home cooking and this place isn’t that at all.

What a surprise! Let’s begin: Not a lot of food options in this area. Finally decided to try. I’m not sure if the food was really good or was it just good for the price and because it surpassed my expectations. You know how that is! Anywho! Fried chicken was decent. Pork chop ok. Ribs were good. I added bbq sauce. Cabbage good. French fries good string beans delicious. Sweet potato casserole good. Sweat potatoes ok. Dessert good. The bbq chicken was delicious! Mac n cheese was good! Food was pretty good. Like I said before. Price is very affordable so the food was worth it and better! People was coming and going the whole time… A lot of people actually eat here. All races! They get a lot of business. I’ll be back on again on a broke night :)

This place deserves a 5 star for the food AND a 1 to a NEGATIVE star for the cleanliness. It’s a run down joint. It was raining and water was dripping from the ceiling onto our food. Thank god the waitress quickly moved us. There were nats/flies flying around our table(disgusting). So we were moved again to the other side of the restaurant by the dessert bar. More nats/flies everywhere by the wall and coming out from a small hole in the moldy/meldew wall! Ew gross!!! The men’s bathroom was filthy and smelled like rotten piss!!! Other then that, the food is amazing! I love their BBQ chicken(to die for amazing), the Mac n cheese is soo good(I try to get the top layer with the crusted cheese), and the stir fried onions and green peppers are soo good! I also really enjoyed the sweet potatoe soufflé and the homemade pecan pie was the icing to the cake!

«Less are more, size no matter, big thing came small package» these word describing Joy’s Country Buffet in Winder, Georgia. From the outside Joy’s County Buffet looking like grandpa old barnhouse but when you tasting the food inside it very good southern cooking flavor. No to many choice like Golden Corral or Ryan’s but what they have to offer tasting like genuine southern cooking from mama sunday fri chicken, pot roast, chicken liver, cornbread, collar green, homemade peacan pie, fry fish, etc, and don’t be suprice to sea little of oriental soul food-beef sirloin strip stir fri and fri rice that taste so flavorsome. Full salad bar, great dessert(cake, ice cream, ect) and fruit selections. For dinner buttfet price around $ 7 range, I no think price can be beat. I probably give Joy another try when I going though backroad of little country town Winder. I would give Joy 5 star for food/service but 3 star for building eyesore, so my math correct 4 star total.

Due to the other positive reviews my family and I out on a Sunday drive through this small town thought we would give it a try. First, it didn’t look clean obviously used to be a old steakhouse but just run down second the food left a lot to be desired. very spicy wing, actually to hot for me and I like hot wings! Meatloaf full of peppers, even fried chicken flavorless. The salad bar did look fresh and the lettuce was washed just not a lot of toppings, the desserts offered were foodservice grade fine but this is «home cooking» don’t call yourself a home cooking joint if you aren’t gonna have a southern grandma on staff!!! We had our small dog in the car and therefore had a small bit of bread wrapped up the waitress threw away I just wanted to post this to save some one else or at least for 7 dollars each maybe go to ruby tuesday

The review can be summed up pretty quickly. cheap buffet that has fried fat back on it. Is it just me? I have never seen fat back on a buffet.(i thought it was onion rings) Let me back up. My friend’s ex-husband told us about some great soul food buffet for the low low. As we were on our way back home from J &J’s flea market and were starving I figured why not. It was very, very interesting. It had a weird fried food smell on the way in. not good. Inside very very casual. Just what you imagine for 6 dollar buffet. All in all it was good. The fried chicken was doable, although the grease tasted a bit old and cheap. Fried fish? way too much batter and we couldn’t decide what kind it was-it SAID catfish but… the pork chops? winners. i was sorry i didn’t discover those until my 2nd trip. they are thin but juicy! and yummy! I also loved the mashed potatoes and gravy… once I got over the pieces of hamburger patties(salisbury steak?) floating around in the gravy… just go around those. I also liked the pinto beans, the pot roast? yum(I think it was pot roast-there are no signs above the food-not sure what that was but it would have been fantastic with some different seasonings in a chimichanga.) I also liked the rolls, the carrot soufflé, and the greens-the mac and cheese was just ok. The place is 6 dollars worth of a buffet and it tastes like it. Go there with that expectation and nothing else and you won’t be disappointed. Oh and how does the fat back taste? like a big fresh really really porky pork rind/cracklin.

My ex told me about this place and said that it’s soul food at a reasonable price(which is hard to find). This is an all you can eat soul food buffet. An adult can eat there for $ 7.75(that includes the drink and the tax). So after a long day of selling some clothing at the J & J Flea Market(in the hot blistering sun), we decided to drive back to Atlanta and make a detour in Winder to check this place out. I’m glad we did. This buffet had just about everything you could think of. There are 3 bars to grab food from. Two of the bars have your meat and sides and the third has your fresh fruit, salad, and desserts. I sampled quite a few things so that I could give an accurate review. Here goes: mac & cheese(tasty), butter beans(yum), cabbage(yum), corn(yum), green beans(yum), fried pork chop(yum), catfish(alright), fried broccoli(yum), and cornbread(alright). After eating all of that, I didn’t care about getting any dessert. I say if you live in the area or are driving through, this is a definite must try. The waitstaff is friendly and the place looks like it stays packed(people were coming in like crazy). Don’t expect the perfect ambiance or private seating for a romantic dinner. This is a buffet in Winder and i’m not sure if that town has a restaurant like that anyway. Just try it.
