This delicious place is closed up until further notice. Although the restaurant is closed, the chocolate shop is still open for business. Very good! Quite expensive. Makes a great gift if you just want a awesome small treat!

I ate there with 2 coworkers for lunch. We all had the chili and a sandwich. One of my coworkers even had the peanut butter, mayonnaise, bacon, pickle and tomato sandwich. Much better than it sounds. They make the peanut butter on site and it’s really good. We wanted to buy some to take home. Chili was very good as were the other two sandwiches. Dessert was probably the best part. I had the piña colada cake, coworkers had cheese cake. Consensus all around was that we’d be back. Hard to comment on the service since it wasn’t crowded when we went but we had no problems. The server was very attentive. Very cozy atmosphere. Thought it would make a great place for a date night.

Love the seasonal salad! And I never love salads. My husband had a lamb shank special and said it was awesome. The service in slow and the chocolate was pretty unimpressive for a chocolate store but our lunches were really good on both visits we’ve made.

Presentation was charming. However, paying above Starbucks prices for lukewarm coffee is not really my bag, baby. Hubby had a latte & I had a caramel macchiato. They took absurdly long to prepare, given that we were the only people in the joint. Our waitress was pleasant enough about heating my husband’s coffee up, but didn’t seem alarmed about just-served coffee needing to be warmed up. I wasn’t asked if I would like the same. I won’t be back.

I was a bit alarmed at the prices when I opened the menu, but the freshness, quality and portion sizes of the food left me thinking I’ll likely be back. A tastefully decorated and relaxing atmosphere made for a nice lunch date for my wife and me now that the kiddos are back in school. We started by sharing the butternut squash soup, usually not a favorite of mine. A swirl of crème fraîche, just slightly sweet and the right hint of nutmeg(a little goes a long way) had us both saying yum. Tasted just like fall. My wife had the seasonal salad, which I first thought a little steep at $ 11.00 for a salad. But the dish was quite substantial, with very fresh and well selected strawberries and blueberries and crumbled bleu cheese. The skeptic in me expected the common under ripe, hard, sour strawberries, but these were perfect. Large enough to take half home. We also split the marinated steak sandwich. As we all know, the bread can make or break a sandwich, and the soft, chewy ciabatta bread was clearly very fresh. Bravo. Steak was perfectly cooked, with red onion and a positively addictive beer based, slightly sweet dipping sauce had us competing for the last bite. Service was curteous and competent. Only one waiter/bar tender during the lunch rush was a bit odd though. Outrageously priced chocolate truffles were heavenly. Yeah, we’ll be back.

First, the food is good here. The chocolate was yummy and our server gave my mom(the birthday girl) a nice little place of truffles to end her meal. My mom got the Death By Chocolate cheesecake to go and she described it as decadent. Unfortunately, the space is small and the wait for our food was long. For a while, our server was the only poor soul actually working in the dining room and that included running the bar. The seating is a bit odd in that it is a random collection of tall tables, couches, short two top tables, etc. and I think that works better for drinking wine and nibbling on truffles than trying to eat a full meal. There is a lesson to be learned for the operators of The Chocolate Bar. If you are going to have a billboard down the street advertising award winning food and chocolate, then you should probably expand your dining area or hire more servers, probably both.

Saturday night dinner/date night… ruined. Girlfriend and I show up to a nearly empty restaurant and were told to sit anywhere. We chose a couch near the window. After receiving our menus and waiting ~10 minutes, we are asked to move because a party of 8 called in and they have nowhere else to put them(2 other couches make a U where we had sat). We oblige. Seated at the bar, my girlfriend orders a glass of Bug Juice. The waitress leaves the cold bottle on the bar. My Goose Island was poured in a visibly dirty glass that still had the remnants of a bar code sticker on the bottom. Time for the Cheese and Olive appetizer. Waitress forgets the plates. Rings out a check in front of us and tells us of the«chaos» in the restaurant since a Manager quit. Plus, we get no olives. Ok… dinner. Girlfriend gets Lobster Risotto served in a seashell. Pretty cool and tasty! Literally — cold. I ordered the Rustic Club on ciabatta. Sandwich came cold(bread was soaked in melted butter(not toasty) but my coleslaw was warm). Consumed about 10% of the sandwich and sent it back. Didn’t think to finish my beer. Girlfriend wasn’t going to drink warm wine that should be chilled. The owner wrote off our meals but had us pay for the liquor, plus sent the waitress to our table to ask what she is doing wrong. We came to eat and go out — not play John Taffer at «Restaurant Rescue». Best part — I came home to food poisoning. Great date night all around. Thanks, Chocolate Bar — we will never return.

Came here for a business dinner with a party of 5. All enjoyed their menu choices. My chicken salad was terrific. Appetizers were great. The 3 different desserts we ordered were shared at the table. The 5 belgian chocolate cheesecake was incredible! My colleague raved about her dessert-like chocolate martini as well. To top it off, we were served one last piece of fine chocolate for after dinner. Service was a little slow, but we were dining leisurely so it was not a concern. The atmosphere was lovely with rich warm woods and large comfortable leather seating. We’ll be back.

Went into their chocolate shop to get some coffee and the lady and man working there were SO rude to us — they gave us attitude when we order two coffees, sassed us about how great their chocolate is(we believe you, geeze!), acted like they did not want to go out of their way to serve us AND the coffees were $ 7 each(for a cup no bigger than 8 ounces). This was not the restaurant portion of the store — just the little shop on the side — but I will not be going back there no matter what. You have to treat your customers with respect and kindness, do not act like they are am inconvenience. On a side note, the young girls working in there were kind and pleasant, it was the older lady(the owner I presume) and her husband(I assume) that were rude to us. Do not recommend for your afternoon coffee needs(even if the chocolate they put in it is great).

Kind of a disappointment. We expected chocolate-themed dishes and got OK but not exceptional fare at rather steep prices. Very few places to sit and eat — more like a parlor. Friendly people, but even the hot chocolate was little better than Swiss Miss packets.

Fantastic desserts! We did the four dessert special with chocolate mousse(gluten free), chocolate lava cake, death by chocolate cheesecake, and the turtle brownie. The brownie and cheesecake were the best! My wife tried the minestrone soup and thought it was good too. The owner always seems to stop by to see how things are doing and it is a very friendly place! Be sure to check the candy shop next door.

This place rocks! Oh my new favorite place! Came with my daughter visiting from LA, and boy did we LOVEIT!!! It is like swilling great wines, and gourmet foods like triple crème cheeses and spectacular sauces, lobster pot pie and oh yes, CHOCOLATE in your own very comfy gorgeously decorated living room… You can sit on the suede couch arrangements or lovely café tables — tons of unique seating choices. And the choice of craft beers and wines are endless! And even CHOCOLATE wines! And now I hear they are adding some great dinner fare items. This place is worth a trip from points East. A great date place, girls night out, bachelorette party. This place is really spesh! I hope they stick around, so you gotta go and show support. U will love it i bet. And we shared a homemade dessert that was crazy good! She makes a caramel that oughta be illegal!

The Chocolate Bar is a restaurant and café that’s a part of Shenandoah Fine Chocolates but run independently, and it shows. Though the menu is light — almost café fare — it more than makes up for the sparseness by the portions and the taste. They spare nothing in coming up with the food, and are very inventive in coming up with their menu. The wine and beer lists are extensive and of course, since this is an offshoot of the next-door chocolate place, the dessert is obviously to die for. One thing, it is pricey, and expect to blow about $ 100 for a couple having dinner there(appetizer, drinks, food, desert). Other than that it’s worth it and my wife and I will be headed there again.
