I went with my aunt to the craft fair/yard sale/clubhouse breakfast held at the Round Hill Ruritan Club location at 164 Poorhouse Road off of RR50 today. It’s held on the fourth Saturday of every month. There, they had an eclectic mix of handmade crafts… scarves, hats, hot pads, wood items like bird houses, puzzles and folks selling things like handmade lotions, body scrubs and rub-on nail art along side your general yard sale faire… clothes, jewelry, books, toys, games and more. I have collected chickens to decorate my kitchen for a while and found one at the craft fair painted up white with a red comb and three posts at the foot that I just couldn’t pass up buying. You had me at ‘chicken’. The Ruritan’s are a social minded organization geared toward the betterment of folks who live in rural communities. People working towards making other people’s lives better always get 5 stars in my book. P. S. Biscuits and gravy sold at the snack bar down stairs.
