I got a group on for this place for $ 32 for two manicures and pedicures. The Groupon did expire, but the certificate clearly says that after the mani pedi deal expires, you can still use the full $ 32 at the salon. Whomever I spoke with on the phone basically didn’t want to deal with me. First she said they didn’t do groupons anymore. Then she said they didn’t do mani pedis anymore. Then she said that they did do mani pedis but that they were $ 74 and I would basically have to pay the full cost of the group on over again. Wha?! Sounds like some optimal customer service to me. Think I won’t be using the salon.

I really don’t agree with any of the reviews here. I also came after purchasing the groupon for a mani/pedi, and it was great! The salon is owned by two sisters and it’s new, so yes, I had to make an appointment a bit in advance and they are still understaffed while they get everything up to speed. But if you can just be remotely understanding of that, you won’t be disappointed. The quality of my mani/pedi was top notch. I got it the day before leaving for the beach, and after a WEEK of sand and chlorine, it took me about 30 minutes to get all the polish off to switch colors! Not a smudge or chip in sight. I’d rather wait for an appointment here than Miniluxe any day. The girls that work there are very sweet. I will definitely be going back!

I have to add to all the other bad reviews of the GROUPON mani-pedi deal. I went for the mani and will not return for the pedi. I could have done better myself. It took too long and the polish came off soon after and it was not the neatest job. No drying station — nothing… I suppose they are trying to get you to book a hair appt. The place was empty while i was there. I know it is fairly new. being a WInchester resident i know all the salons in town and suffice it to say i go out of town for my hair cut & color. i heard the owner left Avanit to start Élan and i don’t blame her. Avanti is the worst. snobby & overpriced but unfortunatle Élan is the same. Please send these guys a message. Winchester is not a license to think you are above the rest and charge exorbinant prices for crappy service!!!

I had a bad experience at Élan. I had an appointment, but when I arrived they didn’t have me down so they made me wait and then had me soak my nails for a long time. I had to sit in a chair that wasn’t a manicure or pedicure chair for parts of my appointment because they were trying to fit me in. I was moved around at least 5 times during the course of my time there. They rushed my nails and three fingers were bleeding. I had no nail polish on when I arrived, but she put nail polish remover on my fingernails while they were bleeding, making it sting. My nails were very messily done. And then there was the pedicure– my baby toe was pulled so vigorously that it caused a cut between the part where the toe connects to the foot! So now I have my this painful cut on my toe and I’m supposed to be dancing at a wedding tomorrow night. This might spoil my time at the wedding– I am so upset. Very unprofessional.

From what i heard, marina is a horrible boss. no wonder i hear her employees talking badly about her. if she is a responsible boss and cared for her salon, then i dont think people that worked there are always talking about how they dont want to be there working long hours and getting payed less. my experience there was so awful, im surprised her salon is still in business. i over heared marina cursing on the phone loudly at her salon while she has clients there only trying to relax. from me just being there for a hour and a half, i can tell everyone is very unprofessional. these is my second time there because the groupon i got 2 mani/pedi. first time, there was a nail tech. there that was very very sweet and adorable to talk to and helps me relax my mind. she did a great job, my nails lasted forever!!! but this time i went back, some one else did my nails and it was horrible. the color stayed on for only 2 days. very unprofessional. she keeps picking up phone calls while doing my manicure. so i asked for the other nail tech. that did my mani/pedi last time i was here. she said that girl quit her job. i was in shock because last time she told me she loved this job especially this salon full of nice people. But by my experience there this time. i totally could understand why. all i hear was the owner yelling and swearing to the employees telling them what to do while shes not doing anything! but over all. i will never come back to this salon. and the owner should learn how to own a business, know how to be professional. and not uses loud voice of swearing while she have clients in the building.

I’m horrified that I was hung up on twice(laughed at the 2nd time when I called) to book my appointment using a Groupon. I called Groupon to let them know about my experience and then decided to look at their reviews here on Unilocal and am so glad I never had to experience what the others did when visiting this merchant.

SO… I purchased a groupon for a mani/pedi because it was a new salon in Winchester and I work right up the street. I made an appointment for 1pm on a Wednesday and walked in at 1pm and the woman at the counter says hello and that the manicurist is running late because the appointment before me was 20 minutes late so I had to wait. WHAT??? Since I only have an hour for lunch this wasn’t going to work so I told her so. She then informs me that once she takes me she can get me out quickly. WHAT??? There is no way she can do a mani/pedi in a half hour and besides… why would I have to be the person who’s treatment is cut short — I wasn’t late? So the receptionist continues to babble on about how she is sorry but there is nothing she can do since they have to serve the customer no matter what time they arrive. I am informing Groupon and not ever going there again. There are a bunch of other Salons in the area that I’d rather give my business too.

Everything about my experience with this salon was awful. I called to schedule an appointment days ahead(I purchased a groupon for a mani/pedi) and the girl said she would put me down but that I wasn’t really scheduled and said she would call back. Well it’s the day before my appointment and I call because I didn’t get a conformation. No one answers the phone and then an hour later someone calls me back. I tell her I’m calling to confirm and she says«fine, I will put you in the book». She acted annoyed with me, I was so confused and put off but figured I’d still give it a shot. My friend and I show up for our appointment and we walk in and there is only two people working and neither of them even look up at us. So we grab a seat, and wait there. No one even looks at us or says a word to us. As we are about to get up and leave, one of the girls finally asks if we have an appointment. We couldn’t even believe it. Also, to make matters worst they have one person doing manicures/pedicures so it was going to take probably two hours for us to get out and we wouldn’t even be able to do it together. Now I understand that they are probably overwhelmed with the groupon response, but what did they expect? People are obviously going to purchase a groupon and if they can’t accommodate that many new customers then they shouldn’t have done this promotion. There are so many great salons in Winchester(just on that street alone), this one isn’t worth going to and having a negative experience. The only positive thing was groupon was refunding my money!

I made an appointment for a mani/pedi at this salon that I purchased through Groupon. Apparently due to an emergency, the nail technician had closed the salon for the day without notice; not even a note on the door. Of course I called and left a voicemail. The next day I called again after noon because I still hadn’t heard back from them. Since I again got a voicemail I hung up without leaving a message and figured they were closed for business forever and that Id been duped. I was taken back when the«Manager» of the salon called me right back, apparently using caller ID. My conversation with her was unfruitful. She explained that she was«too busy» to call me before and that b/c of the Groupon sales they had(over 800), the influx of calls was too great. Unfortunately that just didn’t satisfy my issue as I don’t understand why after several hours of being open the next day that an attempt to contact the people you blew off the night before wasnt made(I met another woman outside that had the same issue). It also occurs to me that she obviously had time to book an additional appointment when she called me back??? I did ask to speak with the owner becuase I didnt appreciate the answer nor her tone but was told she was«too busy». That’s when I decided to hang up. I figured if they weren’t concerned enough to speak with me then, besides not being at the salon to meet potential/clients to apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to receive their employee’s appointments, then I don’t want to give them business, any business, regardless of the ‘deal’. Note: I am completely compassionate about the nail technician’s emergency but I think in an emergency that you should be able to rely on your co-workers to help out and not even the manager or owner was willing to do that; that’s my issue. FYI, I received a complete refund from Groupon. I’ve never had an issue with them!
