Go here! Seriously you will love it! This place is a hidden gem in the area. They are only open certain months. The place looks small, located literally on a strawberry farm but it’s awesome. There is a café where you can order Cubans(they are the best around) but they have other options and a plethora of strawberry desserts like shortcake, Sundays, smoothies, etc. The lines are long but so worth it. You can always buy fresh fruits and vegetables for great prices. You have to eat outside so check the weather to make sure it’s not too cold outside. We go here each strawberry season and look forward to the months it’s open. It’s become a tradition for a few friends and us to go here for weekend lunch. They accept credit cards too which is convenient.

Goodson’s is only open from about mid December til mid march, whenever the strawberries run out. This is mainly an outlet for selling their strawbs which are fabulous. They actually let them ripen before picking and are juicy sweet delicious. They also sell fruits and veggies which are way better than what the supers sell. But the main attraction is the snack bar where ultra good strawberry shortcake can be had. Ice or whipped cream, your choice. Goodsons is worth the short drive, you won’t be sorry.

We visited some friends in Ruskin, FL who wanted to take us out for a treat — Cuban sandwich and strawberry shortcake. And what a treat it was! My wife said she’d share the sandwich with me, but she wanted her own strawberry shortcake! And a good thing too. WOW, what a shortcake, with GOBS of strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream. Goodsons might be a few miles out of town, but it is certainly worth the trip. They have a nice fruit and vegetable stand, some beautiful fields that surround it and nice, friendly people staffing it. Bön appetite
