I was a big fan of this place. It is not your cookie cutter Mexican restaurant. This restaurant has a good atmosphere, great tequila selection, amazing salsa, and great food. Sauce is different but very good.

A weekend in Wilson… capped with Mexican food? Indeed, and it was fantastic. Top notch salsa, chicken soup, fried corn started us off. Then steak fajitas and the stuffed pepper. Oh… and fried ice cream. All fresh and high quality. Id recommend all. Portions were big and prices very reasonable. 5 plus stars!

2 of my 3 shrimp tacos were perfect. The 3rd was so drenched in sauce it was not edible. A guy by and asked how everything was and I told him. He shrugged and said, that’s traditional and walked off???

We had a delicious dinner! Since I cannot eat anything with garlic it’s always a challenge when eating out. It was recommend that I get something on the vegetarian section of the menu. I got a flour tortilla with veggies-​also no onion or jalapeños. It was wonderful! Fresh avocado slices on top. My hubby got beef chimichangas with beans-​he loved it! The place was very, very busy but we were seated quickly. Very good service.

Decided to try a different Mexican restaurant tonight and came here. Food was good, fair prices. Had the guacamole appetizer which was tasty. Dinner was the carne asada and the seafood And fish bowl… both good, but a tad spicy on the seafood. The cheese stuffed pepper is quite spicy, beware :) drinks are good, not sugary mixes. Service was friendly, attentive and fast. Extensive tequila selection. Overall a good restaurant.

Came with the family for dinner. Had a bit of a wait but it is a small place. We started with Mojitos which were very good followed by the dip sampler — Guacamole, cheese dip and chipotle bean dip. All were outstanding and so fresh tasting. The house salsa was very good as well and our waiter kept the chips coming and our glasses filled.
We ordered the 3 meat (beef, shrimp and chicken) fajitas and they were oh so good!
If I could give them more than five stars, I would. The service was impeccable and the food was beyond delicious. I cannot wait to come back and try all the yummy things I’ve heard about.

I’ve become accustomed to the Mexican eateries around Wilson and was thinking La Rancherita would be more of the same. Not so! Based on recommendations from others here on Unilocal,my lunch party started off by sharing the Mexican corn appetizer. The recommendations were spot on! My lunch entrée was the Premium Burrito. It was artistically served, which was a nice surprise. That burrito was the best I’ve had at any Mexican restaurant. The service was attentive, and the lunches were served quickly. This place has vaulted to the top of my favorite restaurants for lunch in Wilson.

After reading all the 4 – 5 star reviews, I was pretty excited about checking this place out! And they have a lot of things going for them. Really attractive bar area, great ambience, and casual fun atmosphere. Seemed as if it was straight out of Raleigh! Server seemed a bit inexperienced, but it’s a brand new restaurant so that didn’t bother me.
I ordered the chimichangas (for $ 10.50) and got an OK plate of food. They were good but not AMAZING. Served with beans (why not rice, too?) and a small amount of pico de gallo on top of lettuce. The menu said it came with guacamole, but the amount I got barely amounted to a spoonful!
So the food was good, but left me a little disappointed. At the price point they are commanding, I want to feel like I actually ordered a meal worthy of the greater-​than-​10-​dollar cost. Definitely worth another go, but I’ll try the fajitas next time.

At first when I heard that ANOTHER Mexican place was coming to Wilson I was like «oh great, just what we need.» But La Rancherita is amazing. Chips are warm, salsa is amazing and the food (chicken and bacon quesadilla, sub beans for avocado and the Mexican corn… godddddd.) is to die for. They’re a little funny about substitutions (they don’t want to make them but have accommodated us both times) which is why four stars and not five.
The ambiance is classy and fancier than other places in town. My mom swears there’s something magic about the sour cream. This is my second time here and I’m leaving happy again.
