Great place to get some work done. Quiet, clean and neat. Staff is helpful and friendly. I have been coming to this library since I was a little kid. I live in Long Beach now, but this is my favorite library and the only one I will come to. I love it here.

A couple years ago, my New Year’s Resolution was to find a consistent volunteer activity and to give back to the community. I followed through by checking out the volunteer opps on and got started with the Adult Literacy program. This branch was my pick, and so began my introduction to the Wilmington Library. Unfortunately, I have to admit this branch seems to be lacking the extra funding that the more central libraries appear to have acces to(a general experience of the shoestring cities of LA.) But the staff is dedicated and they have lots of information and classes for the community. I consistenly saw ESL classes and tutoring sessions during each of my visits. The Literacy Coordinator was super helpful and my student was wonderful. I didn’t make it longer than a year due to time commitments, but I hope to rejoin the program in the future. The Wilminton Branch has a spacious & gated parking lot, quite a few internet stations(however, there is always a wait due to gamer kids glued to the screen), and there is a private room available for tutoring or study groups that can be reserved. Books put on hold and transferred to Wilmington are kept behind the check out desk.

This is a cute, small library hidden around the corner of Avalon and PCH. I come here because it is the closet LA public library branch to where I recently moved in Long Beach, and sometimes I put hold on books at the LA library that aren’t available in LB. The staff are always friendly here and while I don’t stay for long since I usually just pick up books on hold, it is relatively quiet and peaceful. It’s a really small library, and there are maybe about four or five large tables(apart from the computer tables) in the adult section. These all have access to one or two outlets and are large enough that you can sit/share with someone else. The Wi-Fi connection is pretty great. The rest rooms are relatively clean. If you put a hold on books, you will have to ask the front desk/check out person(most libraries have a section from where you can just grab your holds).
