We have been eating here since we were kids. The shrimp roll, steamed dumplings, and wanton soup has always been good. The best dish ever was double cooked pork off of the authentic menu… The place was clean too. But now, something has happened, food has taken a turn for the worse and the restaurant smells like they have some type of drain problem. No one can make the double cooked pork the way it used to be made for many years…

I stopped here while visiting family and I was very happy I did. The staff was very friendly. From the minute I walked in they were nothing but helpful. I ordered the crispy chicken with hot peppers and a tsingtao beer. The food was amazing!!! The crispy chicken goes great with the spicy peppers and a nice cold beer. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really cool. They have very cool décor. After chatting with the manager for a little bit I found out this place is all about being authentic. Which, I think is great. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants some good food in a great place with nice people.

Most disgusting dim sum I’ve ever had. If you do not have taste buds, this is the place to go to.

If you like the Americanized Chinese food, it would be ok. If you want authentic Chinese food, this is not the place. Dim sum is not good at all. And other Szechuan dishes are not Szechuan-like. I would not recommend this place.

It used to be that the double fried pork was spicy enough to necessitate a nice cold glass of milk(or two), and this particular dish was my holy grail of Chinese food for many years. It became the benchmark I measured all Chinese food by: Try the spicy pork somewhere else and see how it stacks up! Sadly, over the past few years the spiciness has become wildly unpredictable, and little things like requests for extra duck sauce(gotta have crispy noodles as a side!) have not been consistently fulfilled. Tonight’s takeout is no exception to the trend. Years ago this would’ve been a 4 – 5 star rating.

Worth a trip for Szechuan dishes. Not sure I would try the regular Chinese dishes, especially since they offer a buffet. But customers seemed to praise it while I was there. Top 3 Szechuan dishes: 1.) Crispy chicken with hot peppers(I usually ask for shrimp instead, much more delicious). 2.) Mapo Tofu(bean curd and pork in Szechuan sauce) 3.) Fish filet in Szechuan sauce The soup dumplings are ok, I’m a pasta/bread/dough lover so I enjoyed the wrap. However they always seem to rip and don’t hold the soup in. Décor is nice(very cultural), except the dated carpet needs to be replaced with something more modern, perhaps hardwood but then again you can’t slip on carpet lol. The booths are nice, but walls and tables are a little dingy. I wish I didn’t move, otherwise we would go once a week!

I used to come to this restaurant when I was a child. Not quite what I remembered! There was a poor selection on the lunch buffet. And what they did have was cold and did not taste fresh at all! I usually try to support the smaller restaurants, but I guess I will have to go to the large Chinese buffet down the street next time I am in the mood for Chinese for lunch.

Lousy food. Sesame beef was underwhelming and had a tang to it that didn’t seem natural. Bad beef, maybe? Hot & sour soup was lukewarm and not good. Seafood Nest at $ 22.95 was terribly underwhelming and bland. The two good things were the egg roll and Szechuan rolls. Everything else sucked. Money wasted. Won’t be returning.

The dishes on the authentic menu are great! The staff are very friendly and always willing to give recommendations or explanations from the menu. The older lady(one of the proprietors?) makes a great custard.

After eating at Sxechuan or many years. Service & quality have slipped. Buffet not as good as it once was… no mustard & soy sauce on table anymore. won ton soup no longer served Hot. just warmm. Tired of sending it back Took to ordering off the menu … shrimp cum pao ectra spicy with fried rice. Z(comes with white rice. But I wanted fried rice) … recieved my huge plate of cum pao then a bowl of white rice which I promptly returned… its taken back & then brought back to me by the host. I tell him I dont want it I would like fried rice. .He proceeds to tell me I have to take it as it comes with the meal! . … I sent the white rice back again & finally Got my fried rice. Stopped by during road trip. We ordered meicai kourou and garlic doumiao, both of which are on the chinese version of menu. We ate them up. It was very good! The waitress and waiter are very friendly. The chef chatted with us. Very nice guy. Will go there again next time I’m in Delaware.

A must-go Chinese restaurant, it is not the regular cheap so called chinese takeout that opened by south-eastern chinese(I don’t want to mention their origins), it’s opened by northern chinese and they know good food better, they don’t do cheap American chinese food just to make money, they cook because they want to bring the real chinese cuisine to the area. Great quality dishes, waitress and the manager are polite and open hearted.

This has to be one of the worst restaurants in the area! The food inn the buffet ran low and they did not refill. When asked for a device to break the crab legs, they did not have any(mind you the restaurant was almost empty). When I asked for chopsticks, they took my fork away! the staff was busy playing with one of the patron’s babies rather than waiting tables. The ice cream was melted… response the machine is old! STAYAWAY…

Authentic Chinese restaurant. crispy chicken with hot peppers was really good and spicy. Light breading and chicken was tender. The spice was spot on. pork and leek wanton(the owner was specific about how this is not wonton) and broth was good. the skin wasn’t too thick and the leek and pork portion was just right. Very authentic. Old décor and not very clean booth. But we will be back again because of the food.

The food is very good. I had the egg drop soup to start. It was very good. I the had an egg roll that was very flavorful. The main course was the beef with green beans. Very large portion and very good. The sticky rice was served seperate which I like so I can mix in what I want. Very reasonable price. Don’t know if it is like this every night but the place was empty. We were there 7:45 to 8:30. The décor is dated and could use an update. Maybe if they did that it would draw more customers.

This is Real Chinese food, not Americanized Chinese food. Szechuan has authentic food, including Northern Chinese favorites because the chef and his son who runs the place are from that region. So you can have hot soymilk with«youtiao» or fried bread crullers(not sweet) – the traditional breakfast and snack of Beijing and parts north. You can see how good this would be in icy-cold Harbin in the morning. We had an off-menu dinner, chosen by the chef. Steamed baby bok choy with dried mushroom sauce, really delicately flavored with a bit of star anise; a true sweet-sour pork, more sour than sweet, with shredded ginger. The pork was pounded with what I think is tapioca flour and it was tender and had that slightly gelatinous quality. And eggplant sandwiched with ground chicken. Soup dumplings for appetizer(they were good but not outstanding.) The entire meal for four was about fifty bucks, but far better than meals I’ve had in Philadelphia at twice the price. I can’t speak to the«Americanized» favorites or the buffet – but I suspect that if you ask for the authentic Northern dishes that the owner and his father, the chef enjoy, you will also enjoy the food. We certainly did. The name Szechuan is confusing because the owner left the sign up from the previous restaurant. It’s not Szechuan. And it’s in one of those nondescript strip malls along Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington but none of that matters. The food is just so good and the host is friendly and very anxious to please. We can’t wait to go back. Probably some of the best Chinese food I’ve had, including a trip I made some time ago to Beijing. «Hen How Cher»(Really delicious)

Food– Great REAL Chinese. Not the Americanized stuff. Order from the menu. Lavatory — Clean. Atmosphere– It’s a little dated, but clean and friendly. Value– Yes. Operations– Happy friendly service. Return– Oh yes, I’ll be back. Notes: I’ve definitely bookmarked this one.

I had a nice blunch here with many friends. The restaurant is very decorated in a typical south-China style. The blunch here is mainly Guangdong style but some dishes from north China. It was my first time to eat the deep-fried dough sticks(youtiao in Chinese) in US, which made a good memory here. I read all the reviews for this restaurant in Unilocal. Most of them complained about the buffet here is not good enough. But I think if you want to have good Chinese food, do not try buffet in any Chinese restaurants in US. Many Chinese food need to eat immediately after cooking. The buffet can destroy its deliciousness. Frankly, this restaurant is worthy more than 4 star for its nice blunch. I will try the dinner here sometime.
