I came in on a monday night for an anniversary dinner with the lady. We’ve walked past the place and it is normally busy but this night we were the only couple downstairs, I thought this would mean the service was going to be great, but unfortunately, visits from the waitress were few and far between and she seemed unfamiliar with the menu when we had questions. Overall the food was okay, but it was certainly not a $ 22 steak, especially when they do not allow substitutions for sides. I’m not sure how this is a top rated restaurant, between the subpar food and service plus the fact that multiple large roaches were dead on the floor near our table, it is not somewhere I would return too. Disappointed.

Having been there serval years ago we Stopped for lunch on a Friday and hoped for a repeat performance. Sadly disappointed. Burger was good Salad was ok Blood Mary’s were the worse we ever had — we love spicy but this was ridiculous. We couldn’t even drink them. We had then cut with extra tomato Juice and still couldn’t enjoy them. The service was terrible/slow and completely uninformed about the menu. We will never return.

Soo, disappointed! Waited 10 min and never even was acknowledged, open seats, at least 8 other customers left. One customer, on his way out after paying his bill said’ «good luck»! We left. To bad, the placed looked cute and what food we saw, look good! The hostess needs to be friendly, not dickish! Not sure I will go back.

Had a great dinner highlighted by a terrific server who knew her menu and made wonderful recommendations. Had the spinach and crab dip appetizer — wowzer! Then she recommended the shrimp fra diavolo, which, in its own way was equally delicious. Add the old colonial ambiance to delicious food and outstanding service and this is a five star for sure!

We had our date night on the balcony. We really enjoyed the food and the view. Our server, Jordan, was fantastic. We will definitely be back.

My wife wanted to try this place for a while because of the terrace seating, so we finally had a chance to go without the kids so I made a reservation for one of the outside tables. When I made the reservation I made sure that the restaurant could accommodate my many food allergens, and I was assured that everything was fresh so it would not be an issue. My was so excited that we were going to have a nice romantic night out without the kids and she could not stop telling me exactly what she was going to order over and over again she was like a kid getting ready to go to the candy store(it was actually kind of cute). We arrived on time and the host seated us right away, and let me tell you the view from the front corner terrace was beautiful. Everything was shaping up to be a great night, which is until the waitress came to take our orders. I explained my allergy issues and she just gave me a dumfounded look and explained that while everything was«fresh» they could not do anything for me because the food had seasoning on it(If something is fresh it does not come with seasoning on it by the way). My heart sunk because my wife’s face went from happy to sad in one second flat. We asked if the waitress could give us a minute so we could decide what to do. After a few minutes of fast talking I convinced my wife to stay and I would just get a plain salad. The waitress returned and I ordered my plain salad no dressing in fact I told her not even to bring any on the side, and then my wife ordered the Arancini for an appetizer and the rib-eye for dinner only to be told that they were out of the Arancini. My wife at this point was getting a little upset but to her credit she shrugged it off and ordered the flat bread instead and asked for a glass of wine. We then proceeded to wait 20 minutes until the waitress returned and asked us «did you order this glass of wine? I have been carrying it around because I couldn’t remember who ordered it». Really she couldn’t remember are you kidding the place weren’t even that busy. She brought out the appetizer shortly afterword’s and my wife said it was really good, but she really would have rather had the Arancini. Our dinner arrived and of course my salad had a little cup of dressing sitting on the side. I took a few bites and found she had spilled dressing all over the side of it. At this point I was done, but my wife didn’t want me to make a scene so I keep my mouth shut, any way who was I going to tell our waitress was nowhere to be found. My wife’s potatoes were very good as was her asparagus, but the steak was terrible she could barely cut it with the knife and it looked like shoe leather. My wife was so disappointed and I will be honest I was just flat out angry, but we paid the bill and left without a word to the waitress. Unfortunately it looks like this place is just a tourist trap, it has a great location so they can serve you bad food and give you terrible service and they will still always have a fresh customer base. Needless to say we will not return.

We wanted to try something that wasn’t a chain, had some ambiance but not too expensive. We sat upstairs(not on the balcony because you can only have two people out there.) It was quiet, only one other table in our room had people seated at it. We enjoyed watching the sun set over the river and even a sailboat passing by through the window/door. We ordered two appetizers(the hummus with pita and veggies and the taziniti(sp) both of which were delicious. My husband ordered the special a 10oz. Pork chop grilled with a cranberry glaze and risotto fritters(had a little kick to them.) I ordered the side salad with mandarin oranges, craisins, etc. with a balsamic dressing(yummy.) my daughter had the pasta and a side salad. We then went full out on desert and ordered the apple tart with salted caramel ice cream and a molten lava cake to share. Fantastic! Our server was friendly and attentive. We were even pleasantly surprised that the check was less than we thought it would be(less than a dinner for four at Olive Garden including two alcoholic beverages.) We will definitely be back the next time we are in Wilmington! We didn’t see the downstairs dining area but if stairs are a problem I would try to stay down. They are a little steep.

The original place we were going to eat at for lunch today was closed so we ventured in to this place and were very happy we did. We had 5 kids and 5 adults in our party. They kindly asked us to wait as they prepare our table. We were pleasantly surprise to ourselves seated at a private area upstairs overlooking the river. This was the start of a wonderful experience. We comfortably enjoyed our lunch since we didn’t have to worry about the kids bothering other diners. Our server was very friendly and informative. I ordered the ratatouille over risotto and it was just all the right flavors all in a plate. I loved it! My entire party enjoyed their orders as well. I decided to treat for lunch and based on the service, the great flavors, and of course the river front location, I found the price to be reasonable. We made note to come back here next time we are visiting Wilmington.

My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here last night and it was awesome. We sat on the balcony that overlooked a vibrant downtown street scene. My wife had the seafood medley in a cream sauce over risotto, and I had the jumblaya. Both dishes were outstanding. Drinks were well proportioned, and the lava chocolate cake with ice cream was to die for. As an added bonus there was a fireworks display right in front of our balcony. Oh, and by the way, they comped our dessert because it was our anniversary. Service was perfectly timed. We have eaten in many downtown Wilmington restaurants but this was a very pleasant surprise!

My wife and I ate there last night. Beautiful historic structure. Very quiet and romantic atmosphere. The food was amazing, the filet with lobster sauce was probably the best steak I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
