I’ve been going here since I was a kid (I’m 24 now) and I pretty much always have a good experience. Marlene works wonders with my hair color… taking me from bleach blonde in the summer, to a darker brown for the winter. I get compliments on my color all the time.
I’ve gotten manicures here before and although the service is good and I’ve always liked my nails afterward, I prefer to go somewhere a little cheaper.
Overall a great, full-​service salon.

Three strikes and you’re out. I’ve gone to Maureen’s 4 times in the last year for different things and I’ve been disappointed each time. And with the amount of money they charge for their services you would expect a higher quality result.
Last year I got my hair cut, colored and highlighted (first time in about 10 years I had gone to a salon for something like that). When I used to dye my hair, when I was younger, I used the over the counter boxes and my hair always came out good. Well, I spent 4 hours there; I went home I realized the hair was just not me. It was the generic, fat blonde streaks you see on everyone. I called them to let them know and they asked me to come back in. The woman doing my hair put me through more processing to remove the color and I spent 2 more hours there and I left with almost the same hair color as I went in with originally except my pockets were $ 180 lighter. She told me after a couple washes it would lighten up, which it did, but it still never got to the color I wanted. For all that time and money to leave with almost the same shade that I came in with is crappy. The disappointing part was with all that intense work on my hair, it basically over-​processed it; it’s dry, gets knots easily. They didn’t really see to eager to make me satisfied after they got the money. I uploaded a picture on here that proves what I’m saying.
The 2^nd time I went to Maureen’s was for a side-​by-​side pedicure with my mom; it was our first ones ever. It was nice because I had never had a professional one before. After my pedicure I researched other places they were charging less and doing a lot more.
After the last time, this was it for me and Maureen’s. My mom’s birthday was in March so I scheduled a pedicure for her after work. I took her out to dinner and realized we might be a little late for her pedicure so I called Maureen’s to let them know. We were only 5 minutes late but they unknowingly to me, dropped my mom down to an «express pedicure» and not the original one I scheduled all because we were 5 minutes late? To do that to a customer on her birthday without her knowledge is not okay with me. I even called and left a voicemail for them about how wrong they were and I have yet to hear anything back. And because of these things I have no reason to go back. There are too many other places out there that actually care about people and not money.
And I gave them a chance to fix the issues, by leaving a message for them and I never heard back that’s the only reason I left this rating. I always give a business a chance to fix something and this place didn’t care at all about my issues.

I get my nails done, acrylics, every 2 weeks, and the work is top notch. Great customer service and friendly staff. Would highly recommended for manicures but have not received any other services from the salon yet.

I went to Maureens today because I had read about it in the Delaware Today Magazein’s Best of Delaware list. However, I would not consider it a Best of Delaware, more likely a worst of Delaware. I went to get a massage, a spa pedicure, and a spa manicure to celebrate my birthday. The massage I received was mediocre, but the pedicure and manicure were the worst I’ve ever had. I have had many manicures and pedicures at many different salons, and I have never had this bad of an experience, especially considering the cost! For a $ 50 pedicure, I left with toenails that were unevenly filed. (It looked like a 3^rd grader did them.) And, the red nail polish was smudged on several of my toes! During my manicure, again my nails were filed unevenly and I bled as a result of my cuticles being trimmed too much! I recommend you try somewhere cheaper because at least then you won’t feel so bad if you have a bad experience like this one!
