I haven’t lived in DE since 1987, but remember the Marini family from when I was a kid. A few years ago, I was passing through and picked up some corn. Jimmy remembered me from 1st grade(the only time we went to the same school) and it had been way more than 20 years since we had chatted. And this past weekend, my mom was passing through and someone(presumably Jimmy) said, «Mrs. R, how are you doing? How’s Diego?» Almost brings a tear to my eye — oh, how I miss getting produce and cinnamon bread at Marini’s! Luckily, I will be back East and may have an opportunity to pass by. I also recall sometime around 1977 when my mom’s Buick wouldn’t start, so they let us take their wagon(1969 Pontiac?) back home so we could call a tow truck. .. class act! Every person should have a business like this nearby.

We have a Marini’s problem. We just cannot get enough. I stopped by Marini’s on Father’s Day at the urging of my friend to get corn there. Well, I got corn and a lot more. Everything is beautiful and fresh and delicious. In the past week alone, we have gone almost every day. In addition to produce, we have purchased crab cakes(awesome), roasted vegetables, salsa and chicken pot pies. We have been thrilled with everything. Also, our 2 year old is obsessed with Norman, the resident pig and the two parrots.

I am a regular customer of this store, and have been since moving into the area 10 years ago. I drive past another stand to get there. It is outstanding, in my opinion. Great Service, considerate staff(always offer to help me carry out the produce to my car). I especially go for the melons, but fruit in season is outstanding. We also enjoy the pies and other baked goods(including the real short cake to go with fresh strawberries. One of the other reviewers had a poor service experience — never been the case for me in 10 years — but that review motivated me to write this one…

Stopped by the fruit stand on the side of the road to support a small, local business. The very nice lady at the stand told me they also owned Marini’s store which would probably have some of the items I was looking for that the stand did not. Eager to find and support a local produce store I immediately drove there. As I walked around, looking for various products, I found it very interesting(and FRUSTRATING) that 5(yes, FIVE) employees right passed me at various times and NEVER greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. I was the ONLY person in the store. I was there for about 10 min before I just decided to leave. I will not support a business that does not appreciate their [potential] customers. You vote with your dollar(something they will not see from me).

The fruits and produce are some of the freshest in the area. They also have really good fruit pies.
