Came in for lunch ended up in heaven. Hot, Fresh, Flavorful and Fast Service. I’m going to get some sausage to go next time so I can put them on the grill and make my famous Cherry Coke BBQ Sauce! Make it a point to stop in. M-Sat

Had the Mexican sausage and omg it was the absolute worst! I haven’t tried any others but after paying 10 dollars to literally throw it in the trash, I won’t be back.

I salute these hipsters for their service to Wilmington. A bit of a strange location unless you work at dupont and are looking to get some lunch, which I do on occasion. Good food, good vision, and random hipster sauces in the drink fridge that you should squirt on everything. I don’t know how much longer the diagrams of meat cuts on the wall will be considered hip, but for now it’s in style. Personally I’ve moved on. The Mexican sausage sandwich could use a veggie on it… I’m thinking a roasted poblano and maybe some grilled onions.

Every summer/fall I stock up on Billy’s fantastic poultry-based(he makes pork based also) sausages which he sells at the Media Farmer’s market. I can’t wait to get to his(new location) place in Wilmington. The chicken/broccoli rabe and chicken/spinach/provolne sausages are delectable.

First time here after reading about this place in Delaware Today. Had the cold cut sandwich — which was very good. Fresh ingredients and the bread was not overwhelming. The ingredients were very fresh(in fact my husband said — oh — crunchy lettuce!). Purchased kielbasa to take home and try and will post the results. Sitting area was very clean and nice. The guy who helped us was very friendly and took time to answer questions about the sausages.

Had a great lunch in this hidden gem! A crazy good turkey soup tasted like stuffing and gravy with plenty of meat. Spicy Sausage sub with sautéed onions and peppers was just right. Passed on the side of pasta salad. Service was pleasant and prompt.

Love all their sandwiches! Thai chicken curry sausage with red cabbage slaw and sriracha mayo is my favorite. They have a great non sausage sandwich list too. They run different specials daily which are always amazing. I love how they accompany all sandwiches with their amazing pasta salad and house made pickles… delicious details that a lot of places would just half ass-but here, the sides are just as exciting as the main dish. They also give classes. Gave my hubby the sausage making class which was very informative. They butchered a whole hog in front of them and used different cuts for different things: made cured bacon, fennel salami and fresh Italian sausage and each took home 6 pounds. This place knows how to make quality products from scratch.

Maiale’s makes pretty good sausages and sandwiches at reasonable prices. As most people have mentioned there is a stamp card where repeat customers can get free sandwiches after 10 purchases. I come here pretty frequently to take advantage of double stamp Wednesday’s, so I’m long overdue for a review. I have a few general complaints against Maiale’s: their over-enthusiasm for mayo(probably 3 – 4 times as much as there needs to be), and several times my order has either been seriously delayed or entirely lost. Also, I really don’t like their pickles which are overly acidic. On to the sandwiches(with score): Castro — The best Cuban sandwich I’ve ever had — the addition of their pulled pork really makes this sandwich stand out from typical Cubans in terms of heft/texture/flavor, and their Dijonaise sauce really pulls everything together. 5⁄5 Italian Sausage/Sausage w/Peppers — No fancy gimmicks or unusual twists, just a fantastic, well executed Italian sausage. Also fantastic if you get it with the stewed peppers and tomato. 4.5÷5 Buffalo Chicken Sausage — Much heavier than I was expecting, but very rich and exploding with flavor. Lots of blue cheese flavor, not overly spicy. 4.5÷5 Pulled Pork BBQ — Excellent pulled pork, slightly smoky, with a not-too-sweet BBQ sauce which gets balanced out by the cheddar. Solid option. 4.5÷5 Thai Curry Sausage — This sausage is pretty ambitious, with hints of curry, but I think it needs a stronger flavor profile. I do like the slaw which comes on top — it makes the overall sandwich taste a lot cleaner. 3.75÷5 BBQ Chicken — Same sauce as the pulled pork, but with chicken breast. It does come with several strips of smoky bacon, which definitely adds to the appeal, but ultimately the pulled pork is better. 3.5÷5 Roman Chicken Sausage — I can tell that this is a very well-made sausage, but the chicken/spinach/provolone/mozzarella combination just doesn’t really do it for me. Call it personal preference. 3⁄5 Mexicano Sausage — I feel like I should like this sausage more than I actually do. It’s a good attempt at a Southwestern-style sausage, but I think it needs to be smokier and more fiery. More cumin and chipotle maybe? 3⁄5 Porkette — This sandwich was disappointing since I usually like the pork/provo/broccoli rabe combo, but the pork wasn’t as juicy as it needed to be, and there was just too much broccoli rabe. 2.5÷5 Robbie Sausage — This is by far the most disappointing sausage I’ve had at Maiale’s. I’m a big fan of the turkey/cranberry pairing, but this sausage tasted really bland to me, and the apple slaw that came on top was like shooting apple vinegar. Even after scraping it off I could still taste the lingering sourness. Ugh. 1.5÷5 Maiale’s can be hit or miss, but as you can tell by the length of my review, they’re worth taking the shot on.

Recently visited for lunch for first time. Lots of sausage choices — their specialty. I enjoyed my lunch, and the included side of Coleslaw was tasty. A little pricier than other delis, but they are offering a specialty– sausage. Also, since they cook the sausage based on your order, seems to take slightly longer than typical deli. Overall though, I enjoyed and was pleased– will visit again.

Delicious! Their fresh sausage is amazing. Even the rolls are fresh and delicious! They are extremely nice and helpful. We always get their sausage at the Rehoboth Beach farmers market, and it was great to be able to come to the actual restaurant. If I lived here I would want to eat here everyday.

This is a GREAT lunch place! I’m lucky I get to work so close to it, the food is always delicious. It’s a little on the pricey deli side but it makes total sense because everything is homemade and fresh. They have several affordable specials throughout the week and a great daily soup selection. The staff is super courteous and helpful, they make it a pleasure to keep going back. I hope they don’t move again, I’ve grown pretty attached to it! Their chicken caesar salad is DELICIOUS. They keep a well-stocked fridge full of all my favorite san pellegrino. Quality business run by quality people who employ quality employees.

I never was a big fan of sausages but this place is completely different than anything I have ever had. Start off with the Mexicano and you cant go wrong. Tried the Thai Curry second and it was amazing. Going for the Robbie today!
