Used to come every Monday night margarita and fish taco special! I miss it and think about it often. Try to come here as much as possible when I’m in town!

The only problem I have with this place is that I can’t eat it for every meal of every day. My wife had the rolls and is officially obsessed. I had the fajitas and am convinced they sprinkle crack on their chicken. Eat here. Eat here often. If you drive by and don’t eat here, I will shed a tear for you.

We were running errands on a Monday when it occurred to me how hungry that I was becoming. Not wanting to cook late, we stopped by K-38 Baja Grill. The interior was simple and rustic. They did not play traditional Mexican music, but what appeared to be trendy pop. Our drink orders were taken promptly. My husband got a beer, and I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. When my glass arrived, it was a small pour. However, our server stated that it was complimentary because that was the last of that specific wine. How nice! Do you know how many restaurants would try to pass that off as a normal serving? The menu featured lots of good choices, several which were vegetarian or vegan. I could have made an excellent meal off of their side dishes alone. They even list their refried and black beans as vegetarian! I ordered the cheese enchiladas in the corn tortillas. It came with rice, and I chose refried beans. I ordered the large portion, which was a tremendous amount. And, was it ever good! Sharp, melted cheese and flavorful sides. And, you know what? It made for three servings for me. I shamelessly hid my leftovers and wouldn’t share with my husband, which speaks to how delicious the meal was. After I finished my free wine, I did order another glass of a brand that they had in stock. After all, it was Monday!

Santa Fe Tuna Rolls at k38 Oleander Dr. It was half price fajita night, but I finally ordered something different! I’ve had this before and it is always a winner. It’s the SANTAFETUNAROLLS with Char-Grilled Yellowfin Tuna, Black Bean Purée, Roasted Red Pepper, Spinach & Monterey Jack ~ Ginger Wasabi.(plus my usual requested side of Cabo Roll sauce). K38 is always super fresh and(somewhat) healthy. Presentation is consistently beautiful and full of color from all of the fresh veggies that are used to prepare each dish. Tonight did not disappoint. The tuna was fresh and that ginger wasabi dip is addictive… I asked for a full one to take with my leftovers. Tonight, food was top notch and our server was great, as well as accommodating to our requests. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and will be back again soon.

Upon walking in the door they had what looked to be a cleaning tool out, you cant miss it, COVERED in dirt. not very sanitary but we proceeded. Then the bar by the bathroom reeked of stale puke. I will say I am a fan of the menu choices however last time I went with my mother and we ordered the corn ears as part of our meal and it came out burnt, not grilled but BURNT, I don’t like to send food back but I couldn’t even eat it! They remade it but left of all the toppings, we had to ask for the toppings and yet send it back again! They brought it back with a literal pinch of chili powder… Still not right but at that point no longer worth the hassle she comped it off our bill. I have been to other locations, not all the same even if owned by the same company. Not by service standards anyways.

Went early on a Friday night and there was a 20 minute wait. Fresh chips and great salsa put me on the right track. Delicious house Margarita. Split the grilled shrimp fajitas and it was more than enough for the two of us. Everything tastes like it had just come out of the garden — fresh! Great service also for a crowded Friday evening.

Decided to check out K-38 for taco Tuesday last week. My wife and I were meeting my best friend and her mother for dinner. Thankfully they arrived first and got a table because when we showed up there was a long wait outside. Apparently taco Tuesday is a popular night. Anyway my friend had already ordered for the table since we were running late but the waitress refused to put in my margarita until I arrived to show my id. Despite everything being pre ordered it still took almost fifteen minutes once we sat down to receive my drink. After another ten minutes the food arrived. Three of us ordered two fish tacos each $ 3 and the other person in the party ordered fajitas. We also got a small side plate of taco fillings(cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and tomatoes) because the fish taco special only comes with the fried fish and seasoned cabbage in a flour tortilla. The food was delicious but the service was erratic and it was impossible to get the attention of our waitress.

The food here is incredible but a little pricy for tacos and such. Be prepared to wait if you go on a weekend but it will be well worth it. Love the margaritas!

I was visiting town and was told that K-38 was a local favorite. After coming here, I can see why given its casual ambiance and friendly service but not so much for the food. I came around lunchtime on a weekday with my boyfriend and it was fairly busy but we were seated immediately with no problem. It was a bit stuffy in the restaurant and the seating a bit close together but it wasn’t a big deal. I’m a big fan of Mexican street tacos and saw they basically had a burrito version of them minus the corn tortilla so I ordered the ‘Socal Carne’ burrito which consisted of char-grilled carne asada, salsa fresca, guacamole, cotija and cilantro. The food came out fairly quickly which was nice but upon taking the first bite, I found myself disappointed. The burrito was less than lukewarm, nearly cold and the meat was salty – VERY salty. I had my boyfriend take a bite and he agreed it was a bit salty as well. I could not taste any of the salsa fresca, guacamole, cotija, or cilantro. I actually opened it up to make sure it was something other than salty meat given that’s all I tasted. I had a bite of my boyfriend’s burrito with chicken and in comparison, it tasted rather bland but he seemed to enjoy it. Overall, I had a less than ideal experience with this local hot spot.

Tasty fish tacos, queso, salsa, and drinks. We stopped in for lunch. I had the east coast/west coast, which is two fish tacos, one with cabbage and cheese, the other with avocado(east coast). I preferred the east coast since personally because the cheese was a bit overpowering on the west coast, but both were awesome, huge, and I will definitely return!

By far my favorite tex-mex/taco salad restraunt! The vegetable salad bowl is the best in Wilmington!

We came here on a Tuesday night and it was packed. I’ve heard good things about this joint, so we waited the 40 minutes to eat. Once inside, it was packed to the gills. This restaurant has it’s own lot and a decent amount of seating. I ordered the Baja nachos and was definitely not disappointed. The portion was good to on the large size, worth the 9.99 price tag. The toppings were fresh and copious. My only gripe, while minor, is there was not that much cheese. I love me some liquid cheese/queso on nachos and get abit sad when I don’t see it. I also love pbr for its cheap drinkable qualities, and apparently on Tuesday they’re a buck, score. I had a good time a left stuffed and happy. I definitely recommend.

Very good food. The salsa and chips were awesome. Impressed with the quality and taste of the food. Plan on being early or else you might have to wait a little bit. The place is not very big and since they are popular they tend to fill up quickly. Wish they had pictures of the dishes to help make picking easier. One restraunt’s burrito is not the same as another’s. I’ll definitely be going back and trying other items on their menu.

This place is a true authentic Mexican food gem! The service was excellent and food was tasteful. Make sure you arrive a little early this place tends to get packed on the weekends.

I came here with my family today and had a decent experience. The wait was long though — they told us 15 minutes and it wound up being closer to 30, which was a little annoying especially because we were really hungry. The chips and salsa they brought us were delicious and we literally devoured two baskets of chips before our food came. I ordered the bikini shrimp, which had 9 shrimp(not very big ones) along with 2 corn tortillas, a pile of jalapenos, pickled onions, 4 slices of avocado and some salsa and cilantro. It was okay, but not super memorable. Personally, I would recommend the fish tacos with the yogurt ranch(amazing stuff) over that dish, and on Tuesdays they have $ 3 baja fish tacos and margaritas, I think.

I chose to eat here because it was after 9 pm and u was looking for a place for my family to eat. We had eaten at their other location once and loved it. I found the food filling but not as good as the other location. I ate half of my dish. One of my teen boys gobbled up his food. My other ten boy and young daughter did not eat that much of their food. They did remove my daughters dish from our bill because she didn’t really want anything. For a family of 4, our bill was very affordable.

Food was delicious. The service was just ok. We went on a Tuesday around 3pm. It was very quiet and yet we waited quite a while to give our orders. I had the skinny fish tacos and himself had a giant burrito. Everything tasted great. Seasoned perfectly great portion size. It is more on the expensive side. So as long as you are prepared for this I’m sure you will eat a delicious meal!

I lived in Wilmington during my college years and every time I go back I visit K-38. The salsa is so flavorful and delicious. They also have this other sauce to put on your meal and I don’t know what goes in it but it is fabulous also. The ingredients are really fresh tasting and the staff is nice. I like the atmosphere as well. The fish selection is a bit disappointing to me for a coastal joint but I am very picky about this. I also think it is a bit overpriced thus the four star rating.

K-38 Baja Grill in Wilmington, NC is a step above the typical«restaurant chains» that offer Southwestern style food. This unique little place is perfect for a quick stop in for really good chips, salsa, tacos, and more. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with adobe style textured walls, and great lighting. The unlimited chips and salsa ensures that you will never leave this place hungry, and whether you are drinking tea or something from the bar, the chips are a great accompaniment. The only downside is it’s location, along a very busy road in Wilmington, N.C., but other than that, there really isn’t a downside. One of the best things about K-38 Baja Grill is that it is frequented mainly by locals to the area here in N.C., as it isn’t close enough to the beaches to be overrun by the tourist scene.
