Food was good, but definitely overpriced for quality & quantity given. Ceviche was good, but way too expensive considering they make it with tilapia. Adobo de cerdo stew was good, but much smaller than I would expect for the price, especially since its pork. Juliana and her husband seem very nice.

This food is amazing!!! Get the adobo de Cerdo… It’s so good! Juicy pork in a sauce, served with rice and Lima bean mash. Never had Lima bean mash, it was good, almost like mashed potatoes. For dessert, the tortas tres leches was really good. It’s a cake marinated in 3 milks. The milk spills out as you cut into the cake. It’s totally worth the calories.

Went here on a first date once and it was probably one of the best dates I have been on and that has nothing to do with the guy. The owners were adorable. One was my waiter and one was the chef. Our waiter recommended a specialty drink and the whole restaurant got in on the conversation. The food was amazing and the small happy atmosphere inspired me to tell all my friends to go there too.

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in the city of Wilmington. My husband and I ate here before going to a concert at the Grand Opera(only a 5 minute drive from the restaurant). The food was outstanding. We had a mixed ceviche to start with, followed by two different traditional Peruvian entrees. The restaurant is tiny which gives it an authentic feel, and you can tell Juliana is putting a lot of care into what she is cooking for you. Her husband Edwin is the waiter — he was very kind, courteous and welcoming. We will be returning here — it’s a great spot!

Let me first say that I love the food, ambience, and hospitaly of this restaurant, but I don’t go any more for my Peruvian food addiction because they are too expensive. For one person you will spend about $ 50, while other Peruvian restaurants in the area are half of that price, if not less. It just stop being worth the money. Sorry :(

Food was bland and completely over priced. Pollo a la plancha for $ 15? are they insane? La salsa de huacatay was awful and the service was slow. They say they open at 11 but we went at 12 and were still not open. This place is completely inconsistent. I honestly think this place is a rip off and I will NOT be going back. Don’t waste your time here.

I tried the ceviche(sp.?). For a mere 20 $ it was a raw pepper sitting atop of a mountain of raw red onions and a very sour lime sauce. There was some seafood in the mix and some real mystery foods. Maybe if you knew what you were getting into this would be good but to my taste buds it was a burning sour mess. It was borderline edible without any mouth abrasions or canker sores that would rendered it inedible. I then chose a seafood dish and got snookered into splitting a meal with my girlfriend. I can’t recall the name of my first dish but it was a decent portion of squid, octopus and other seafood in a nice red sauce with white rice. However, she ordered this pathetic plate with two seafood kebabs that were small and some tasteless(think paste) vegetable. It was overpriced in my opinion at 20 $. It all was a thumbs down to the baby who spit out everything but desert. I will say that the owner is nice and the service and ambience were nice. Maybe a bit overpriced.

I think they do an excellent job. We were looking for Spanish food & picked Juliana’s because it was close by. I go by how the food taste. Is the place small?(so what). Can you hear other people talking(make your own conversation). The food had a light touch. It didn’t overwhelm you with spice but was just right. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go again. Good Luck and i hope people support your endeavor because there is a passion there. Clean quality food vs. the fast food junk that we continue to feed our youth. McDonalds aint going out of business but smaller type eatery have such a small margin to stay in business. Go Figure

A friend of mine with suspect tastes for exotic food swore by this place, so we all decided to give it a try. Very small inside. There is an upstairs which I did not see, but the downstairs only had 5 tables. Make a reservation. We were seated immediately by the host/waiter/owner/husband of the chef. He was a very pleasant and knowledgeable man. He went over the menu with us making various recommendations. My friends all though the ceviche was the best they ever had. That is not really my thing so I can’t confirm. We all had various dinners. I only tasted mine, which was a the Lomo Saltado(Stir-fried beef with red onion, tomatoes and served with rice and French fries). The steak was overcooked and tough. He flavor was good however. My friend had the Chuletas a La Plancha(Grilled pork chop served with yellow rice and beans). He commented that the pork chop was good but dry. The prices were fair, so no need to complain about the food. It just didn’t really set my world on fire personally. I would not return, and would give this place 2 stars. My friends seemed to like it more than I, so I gave it three.

I was searching for a restaurant to take four picky eaters to. Some liked hot food, some didn’t. Some liked seafood, other’s didn’t. Some wanted something exotic, others wanted something familiar. Since Juliana’s Kitchen was top rated on every single list, I was able to convince them to go here, and boy was everyone impressed. There were two fish dishes, two meat dishes, the seafood soup, and maduros ordered. A side of the hot sauce made right at the restaurant was brought out, and we ordered a round of beers. The restaurant size and decorations made us feel right at home, and the food and service was impeccable. The soup was loaded with crab, clams, mussels, octopus, and fish, and the flavor was great, with a nice heat level. It came topped with a slice of a hot pepper for those looking for a little more kick. Then came the entrees. Everything was perfect, whether it was the rice, the lima bean mash, cod, pork chop, fish, etc… And what really impressed me, were the maduros. I love sweet plantains, and get them at every caribbean, cuban, or latin restaurant, and I’m yet to come across any as good as these. They were perfectly caramelized with a melt in the mount center. It was almost a sweet plantain crème brûlée. Halfway through the meal, there was discussion that maybe this is the only restaurant in the area that we eat it. This is a restarant that all four of us will go back to, when back in the area.

My husband and I were here recently and we had such a pleasant experience. It’s a little place with only one server(also the owner) but it didn’t take too long. He was so sweet and gave us such a wonderful experience. The food was really good. I would recommend everyone to try it. We’re definitely planning on going again.

We like it here a lot. Have been here about 5x, which is only because we live 30 min away; if we lived closer, we’d be here a lot more often. We’ve always enjoyed it here. While I haven’t yet been to Peru, I have been to a couple good immigrant-run Peruvian restaurants in the US: El Chalon in Washington DC, and Lola’s in Glendale CA. I’d put Juliana’s right there with them. The food is delicious. With ethnic food we apply a stand-by test — for Peruvian, it’s Lomo Saltado, which is very good here. For that matter, we’ve enjoyed everything we’ve had in each visit. Service is, let’s call it relaxed. It is a very small family operation — the owner doubles as waiter. In that role he’s very personable and pleasant to deal with, which occasionally slows things down but to us is worth it. I might go elsewhere(or order takeout) if in a real rush, but we’ve never been there longer than 90 minutes, so it’s not like they’re truly slow. Highly recommend. Both because it’s an unusual cuisine for the area, and because it’s a good restaurant.

Let me tell you something! If I ever start by saying, let me tell you something, that means whatever comes next is SERIOUS! Unilocal once again proves it’s worth, as looking/driving by this restaurant from the outside, you would never guess what culinary delights await on the inside! A small converted row home to restaurant with a few tables who’s décor feels very warm with a Peruvian flare. Juliana’s Kitchen doesn’t have 140 reviews for no reason. I’ve had my fair share of Latin cuisine from restaurants stretching from NY to Miami and let me tell you something, this spot ranks in the top 3 overall and hands down BEST in Delaware! Edwin, our host & server, is Juliana’s husband. Very warm, cordial & informative in offering not only explanation of the different dishes, but a little history/background regarding them. I had the Pescado a lo Macho, a fish dish in a spicy sauce with a rice & corn mix with maduros(sweet plantains). They threw in a couple of clams & shrimp which wasn’t even apart of the dish. The flavor of everything was nothing short of out of this world! The fish, tender, moist, flavored perfectly in that sauce with just the right amount of heat. The maduros, soft & sweet on the inside, with a nice light, crisp caramelization on the outside. Every bite was heaven on a fork! One thing is for certain, I will be a regular customer and if you ever have the opportunity to visit this little hidden gem, you too will be satisfied and amazed.

I have a love hate relationship with this place. I love the food and service has usually been alright. But the ambiance of this please I don’t like. The place looks like it’s close and when you walk in there is not much space. You can hear to detail the conversation of the other customers(if there is any) Also their food is way over price. It’s good and everything but not for its price. I shouldn’t pay $ 40 – 50 for ONE person. I would definitely be a regular if this place lower their prices and I’m sure many other people would come here often as well

I just came back from Peru when I went here with my grandmother. We were both blown away by the food and the waiter/owner was super informative and attentive. I have since taken my friend who is Peruvian and he loved it, too. The Ceviche is a must! Best ceviche I have had in the United States. And I try ite very chance I get!

We looked at the 4.5 reviews out of 116 so we decided on this restaurant. I was a little worried as the three of us were the only ones in the restauranT on Friday at noon. It was a little pricey at $ 100 for mixed ceviche appetizers, flat grilled steak, chicken mix veggie, combo seafood soup, two purple corn drink(kinda sweet) and charged an extra $ 4.95 for a small bowl white rice. I love ceviche and have had it at 30+ different restaurants around the world at 4+ reviews on Unilocal and this was a little disappointing. This is the first time I had ceviche for $ 19 with three different fillers to make the dish look full. They added sweet potato, chunk of corn, and more dried inside out popcorn to the ceviche dish. Service was good. Food portions were reasonable. Atmosphere was like a restaurant built out of a house. There was a heater near the window under the seat that was way too hot. All three of us agreed if we would of paid $ 60 instead of $ 100 We think this restaurant should fall in the 3.5 range.

A very quaint and cute restaurant. Juliana’s husband greeted us and he was very, very friendly and welcoming. The salad was delicious. The purple corn drink he recommended was also delicious. It was not as affordable as Unilocal implies it. The restaurant really should be rated with $$$ than 2 $$. If you want anything other than simple rice and beans/fried rice, be prepared to spend more than $ 20 per person. The entrees were a little underwhelming. The food was not warm enough and this may sound surprising– but there was a lack of spice/taste to the food. I found myself constantly trying to shake more salt and pepper to the dish. We might go back, only if we get completely different entrees the next time.
