Looking for a quick lunch, we stumbled on this even without the help of Unilocal thanks to Sweetie’s eagle eyes.(The sign is unobtrusive, at least to me– I barely saw it from where we ended up parking next door.) It is a small deli/coffeeshop. It’s an odd space– you enter a sort of waiting room with books, go up stairs to the coffee area, and go back a bit for the deli. Past that there is a huge open area, with the restrooms at back. Odd. Anyway, service was super friendly and helpful. They have a big menu of sandwiches, including some breakfast sandwiches, plus soup, etc. Sweetie had a make your own sandwich with a croissant(it was National Croissant Day, coincidentally,) egg, bacon, and cheese, with tomatoes on the side. Good tomatoes, which she enjoyed, and the sandwich was great too. I had the YoYo MaMa, a flatbread wrap with, I believe, chicken, meunster, onion, and honey mustard. Very good; on the small side, but paired with a bowl of their soup it was plenty for lunch. The soup was a special, roast chicken potato. The potatoes were mostly pureed, so it was a thick soup with chunks of chicken and lots of flavor. A little expensive, a little slow, but all in all a good meal. Lots of interesting stuff on the menu for return visits. They have a deli counter with meats and cheeses, which would be handy too.

Let me first say that all espresso drinks are made with a double shot for the same price as a single. All the drinks are excellent. The service is always great and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. Have met some very interesting people sitting at the coffee bar. The food is very high quality! I love the Super Nova: Smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, red onion, diced tomato, and cucumber on a toasted whole wheat bagel. They also use Boars head brand, which in my opinion is the best! I really enjoy this place.

Jen’s Deli… Let me start with this. The coffee itself is good. Some of the espresso drinks are a little watery, in my opinion — get an extra shot. The food is average — I hear a lot that it is overpriced, but they do use fresh, local foods. The staff is kind of hit or miss. Jen probably has a lot on her hands running a business. Her attitude sometimes makes me feel like I should just leave. Like her customers are a burden. Most of the other staff I have met seem to be pretty spunky and friendly, drinks and food do take some time though. Also, random complaint. The cups for the iced drinks leak from the edge. The lids do not fit properly. It’s been this way for months. Ask the barista to not fill up the cup all the way or you’ll be wiping up coffee everywhere you go.

Funky college kind of place with coffee, pastry and sandwich. The food was amazing and presented well. Side dishes are goid, especially the bacon potato salad. Tea was really fresh tasting too.

Best sandwich I’ve had in a while. Service was no problem, they even stayed open late for us. I travel frequently and prices are average. Then again good food isn’t cheap and cheap food isn’t good!

First time to the area and we stopped in for breakfast. Our sandwiches were really good and not your run of the mill choices. Customer service could use some help. I wasn’t sure if you had a waitress or ordered at the counter and the staff was not offering any help. I would go back if we are ever in the area again.

I’m working in the area on temporary assignment and yesterday’s schedule took me and a coworker to Wilmington, where I experienced Jen’s. An earlier reviewer mentioned that it’s got that hippie dippy vibe and that comment is spot on. If you show up in business attire, as I did, you can expect some attitude from the staff, who are more interested in gossiping among themselves than they are in taking care of their customers. I had a sandwich that was mediocre and overpriced. My colleague had coffee and a snack and reported the coffee to be bitter and not very fresh. On a positive note, Jen’s is housed in a very interesting building with some great décor and lots of character. The menu items look great, but preparation and presentation are lacking. But the staff… Unfriendly, distracted, and more interested in their personal agendas than in taking care of customers. Wilmington is in farming country with some light industry in the area; the entire area is still reeling from a stale economy that hit Wilmington particularly hard when a major employer left for Cincinnati. The hippie /skater /grunge crowd does well in large metropolitan areas with a relatively strong economy. In places like Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, and Denver the working population enjoys an occasional dose of bohemia and they’re willing to pay for the experience and put up with the accompanying bad manners and weak hygiene. Jen’s Deli is not in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, or Denver. It’s in a down on its luck small city where small businesses have to work hard to keep customers and get new ones. I won’t be back.

Jen’s is a sort of place that a Hipster Doofis would love. Since I did not arrive there in a Prius and was not wearing sandals, I felt a little out of place. I had a turkey & roast beef sandwich, pickle spear, a spoonful of potato salad & a small drink, it was $ 11.00. A bit pricey, but it is in a downtown location(if you can call any part of a small town«downtown») The sandwich was alright. The potato salad was okay, a bit dry and an interesting flavor. Pepsi is on tap, one ding against them for that! I probably won’t return.

Stopped in on a Saturday morning for some coffee. Although the door was open, barely any lights were on and I couldn’t tell if they were open or not. One person was working and it looked like a couple of his friends were hanging out with him. Something about it seemed a little weird to me. I had originally planned on getting some breakfast along with my coffee but I decided to high tail it out of there. I was bummed because I’d been looking forward to checking out this vegetarian friendly place. Oh well.

I’m a fan of this downtown Wilmington spot located in an oldtimey bookstore. There is clearly a dedicaton to food and it shows in the variety of offerings and end result. I really enjoyed my lunch here. The prices are reasonable and I recommend trying this place. Nothing is fancy here, so keep your expectations casual.

Great place to host a group. I highly recommend it for group events. Also, the catering great for delivery for off premise meetings. Food ranges from good to great. My least favorite thing to eat there are its soggy and bland chocolate chip cookies. They make a killer grilled cheese sandwich. The coffee is so-so. The comfort for dining in is poor – seating needs to be replaced. The people who work there are outstanding.

I go to a lot of small towns and usually it is hard to find a good spot for lunch. Jens has a greAt variety of sandwiches serves top notch boar head meat and has a cool setting as it shares space with a book store. A couple of my co-workers played a game of chess at Lunch which was fun.

Jen’s is a great place. Period. This is the place to catch lunch with a friend, get dinner with a whole group of friends, study in the evening, and kill some time with a game of chess or a book on the weekends. They offer all sorts of different sandwiches and options, from bagel bread to so many different local veggie toppings. It’s pretty much awesome. There’s also a bookstore attached to it that you can browse and read, or curl up with your laptop on a couch and veg out. This is a great place to people watch as well, especially watching people try to park :)
