Island Passage

I went in to look at what they had and I didn’t get a greeting or an offer for help. The service was not up to par. The other Island Passage is completely different. The people will start conversation and help you find things. All I can say is I will not be going back to this store

Several of my favorite outfits have come from Island Passage. Any time I am looking for something unique for an event or just because I want something new, I check here first. They are a local gem shopping wise. Every once and a while I find a great deal, more often their prices tend to be more than I want to spend on every day items which is why I often check their for special items. You get what you pay for though so I am not saying it’s not worth it to spend the money if you have it!

This store has some nice clothes for the younger set. However, the customer service is lousy. I have been giving them my business for years buying for my two girls. You would think it would be appropriate to allow a long time customer to be allowed to put something on hold after a purchase without having to try and convince the store that I have every intention of coming back. I am not a teenager and have never been so irritated. The old manager was nice and one reason I shopped for my girls there. I have had better service in much fanicer places.

Bad —
— pricey, and while I know you get what you pay for, sometimes I still get sticker shock!
— the staff can either be supper friendly and helpful or bitchy and snobby (and yes it’s a either or I’ve never seen a middle ground)
AD Tip– head first to the sales rack, don’t stop @ go — just head straight to the sales! Usually you can find some killer items that are still in season but have been marked down. Remember the high sticker value here, great things end up on sale because most people aren’t rolling in that kind of money or can’t justify dropping that kind of dough shopping in Wilmington!
I love Island Passage, and even though my wallet doesn’t always love it, I have rarely been disappointed here. They usually carry really cute and trendy clothing lines. For those of you from out of town, think the same type lines you would find at Nordstrom’s or Bloomingdale’s! (just on a much much smaller scale)
For example, cute designer jeans (check), special night out clothing (check) and fun accessories (check)… Island passage has it! If I have something special coming up where I want to look cute and sexy, and price isn’t a question, Id go here first! I think they have some of the best cocktail type dress in town. They aren’t really big into formal, long dress — but you never know. The same goes for their shoes, while they do carry them, it’s a really small selection — you have better luck at Monkey’s.
Island Passage has two store in Wilmington. One Downtown on Market St. and one near the beach at Lumina Station. And though I love both stores, for some reason I always seem to have better luck at the one at the beach. Personal preference, but then again your reading this for my option, so there it is! Plus once your at Lumina Station you have a bunch of other stores and trouble you can get into … (Monkeys, Airlie moon, coffee @ Port City, followed by cocktails at Dirty Martini, and just make a whole day of it)
Lastly, I cant cant over emphasize how much their sale rack rocks my world! You be shocked sometimes. But again, because it is a small town and small store, its not a guarantee! While I usually see thing I like, it doesn’t mean I always see thing I «have to have», so you should check back and check back often if you can! This also goes for their discount store downtown (Return Passage) Return Passage is like their warehouse store for sale items, while also carrying a small selection of trendy but cheap (off brand) clothing.
So overall 4 out of 5… and only because my bank account won’t let me love it the way I want too!
