Thought this place was cool until I got bad customer service… I’m all for shopping local but the treatment I got was poor to say the least. It’s sad to say that I would have better customer service at a chain like Walmart. Very disappointed.

I absolutely love the atmosphere of this store which sort of makes up for the employees attitude. I always have a different experience when going to edge of urge. The first few times I went the staff acted like they were too good for me and like I shouldn’t be shopping there. They never offered help or a greeting and when I checked out they never said thank you or acknowledged me. But the last time I went, I was just looking for a freaker but the girl who was working was so helpful and kind and made me really enjoy my experience! It’s a fun place to shop and look around but don’t always count on getting five star service

Love this store, probably one of my favorites in wilmington. However, I recently visited and was displeased with the experience. The girls there have always been helpful and pleasant. This time the red headed girl checking us out griped about us asking for a bag, as one of the purchases was a gift and informed us that«I mean, we are trying to phase bags out but I guess if you have to have one, here». There was no thanking us for shopping or supporting local business and I left with a very bad taste. I’m sorry, I understand being conscious of the environment or saving money or whatever the purpose of «phasing bags out» is but it is a fantastic means of advertisement! If anything, incorporate reusable bags(if this was an option, we certainly were not offered it). Unfortunate, but can’t say that I won’t be back. Hopefully, they’ll reconsider positioning and keep unpleasant employees stocking or in the back! You should check this awesome place out, but if this happens to you, don’t let this one experience keep you from going back!

Edge of Urge is hipster boutique in the heart of downtown Wilmington. My first visit to Edge of Urge I was introduced to the Freaker, a koozie gone wild! Freaker’s are locally made knit koozies that can stretch over beer bottles, wine bottles, anything really! You can also find awesome accessories ranging from locally made necklaces to earrings with my boyfriend’s face on them. Who is my boyfriend, you ask? None other than Ryan Gosling!(SWOON) And yes, I am currently rocking them. Alongside the accessories to boot, there is clothing, shoes, stationary, and SO. MUCH. MORE! Definitely a stop every time I visit Wilmington.

I have been meaning to review this place for some time now, but it somehow slipped through the cracks. Since I walk by this store every time I am in Wilmington and when I found out the Feather Bar jewelry originated here, back before it was super trendy and in every girlie magazine on the planet, I needed to go to create my own piece. My friend from DC was in town and wanted to make one too, so what better time. Although the pieces are somewhat expensive for the dangles, its worth it. Totally fun. We each came out with cute earrings with feathers and colorful beads and skulls and I was super jived for an opportunity to wear my creation. I am having a hard time understanding why people think this place is extremely overpriced, its a boutique for Christ sake, what do you expect? They have lots of unique clothing, loaded with local vendors and artists, especially in the jewelry cases. I have purchased a handful of crazy fun sterling silver pieces and gotten compliments on them all. Its like, off the wall, trendy hipster shit that while I think is fun, its not really my style. They have clothing for Men, Women and I’ve even seen a basket with really rad baby onesies, which I have never purchased any of because I refuse to spend $ 30 on an outfit that is going to probably get vomited and pissed on as soon as I put it on my baby, but hey, if you have tons of expendable cash, go right ahead. I like to come in here to browse, usually in hopes that I might find something interesting, but like I said, its not really my thing. Ive seen some art and home decorations and a few handbags that have struck my fancy, but unless you’re into mustaches, slip on checkered vans, Lady Gaga shoes or neon colored tights, you might just be more amused by the vibe than the products.

Okay — trendy clothing, tends to be overpriced.

Love the atmosphere and vibe here! Brownie points for carrying local vendors :) Lots of cool one of a kind items. My only complaint is that some of the stuff is way way way(get my point) over priced, like 9 times out of 10 the price is more than it should be. Staff is always friendly and has the cutest black dog with them:)

i am in no way a bad apple, & my rating needs no filter as it is the absolute truth. to prove me wrong, i gave edge or urge another chance, as i believe in second chances(or, in this case, tenth chances) & yet again: horrible customer service. nonexistent, even. can customer service be horrible if there is, in fact, no customer service to begin with? i browsed the store for at least ten minutes, ample time for anyone to have greeted me or the person i was browsing with, but no such thing occurred. typical. once again, we left a little more than puzzled. not disappointed, for that was expected, just puzzled. that’s the truth. filter it, or don’t.

The associates were helpful and the boutique had a great vibe. It only took me a hot second to notice these feather, one of a kind, create your own earrings things. I was all over it. Apparently the owner has created this customizable experience. I have worn mine several times and so many people give me comments left and right. It makes a girl feel good… you know? Anyways go in and meander around. They have a great selection of clothing, jewelry and shoes! I had to walk away from the shoes because they were a little out of my price range but I would come back.

One of my favorite shops in Downtown Wilmington! I love the focus on quality clothing, shoes, and handmade jewelry. I also like the emphasis they place on featuring local artist and clothiers. In response to the other reviews regarding higher prices, I feel that the price of a handmade item not being manufactured overseas is worth it. PS: The have gifts ranging from $ 10 up, great place to purchase fun jewelry or small gifts for the occasional birthday.

I had to force myself to leave this store after purchasing a pair of shoes and a ring. If I hadn’t, I would’ve be in danger of spending a few hours(and a few paychecks) in this bermuda triangle. Every time I thought I was ready to leave — had seen everything — something else caught my eye, and I was reeled back into my shopping frenzy. It’s difficult to explain unless you are a fashion-aholic, but Edge of Urge type stores are virtually non-existent, even in the North East where clothing and accessories stores are a dime a dozen. You just don’t see incredibly unique, creative designs in bulk like this… ever!!! It’s maddening. And, I wish I could stay mad forever. My Melissa vegan and recyclable shoes are, perhaps, one of my all time favorite purchases. I will be back with more energy(and paychecks).

the Edge of Urge store in NC and it’s online component absolutely rock. Jessie Williams is a fun and hip designer and her pieces are beyond comfortable. Additionally, the risks she takes in her designs(specifically swimsuits) are both unique and uniquely flattering. Not to mention, the store has a great curative sense and picks some of the most wearable, cutting edge shoes, clothes, etc. btw… recently had a situation where an item performed less than admirably after wearing it once. it turned out to be a manufacturing issue, but Edge of Urge could not have been more responsive. Absolutely fantastic customer service from the moment I contacted them through the remediation. Yet another reason to support locally-owned shops and independent designers.

This was a really nice little surprise to find in downtown Wilmington. Really cute unique handmade items, including some fantastic dresses and amazing pieces of jewelry. Yes, its pricy but that’s what it costs to have things no one else has!

Cute clothes, but not cute enough for the price tag. If I shop there, I normally get great knits and shoes. Great jewelry from local artisans too.

Nearly all of the clothing and jewelry in this funky boutique is beautiful, but extremely pricey.
