Corbett’s Burgers and Soda Bar

Went with my daughter on Presidents’ Day. There were only four tables of customers. Only two people working. We ordered two burgers and one fry to split.
It took close to an hour for our food to come !!! Insane !!! Prices are a bit high too. Never again.
Burgers are ok but just as good at PTs or Cookout.

The burgers and waffle fries are AMAZING!!! This is s great spot to take the family as well. Really cool concept with SEVERAL coolers with endless soda possibilities! Anything from a classic grape soda to a bacon soda (sounds weird but it’s SO GOOD).

My wife and I ordered a couple of burgers for delivery… They were amazing! We asked that they be cooked medium to medium rare and they arrived hot and perfect. Some of the reviews on here can be misleading. If you don’t want a well done burger, simply ask! We devoured the burgers and the fries were seasoned perfectly.
Corbett– the only thing I ask is give us an option on some soda for delivery. We have a two year old so getting it delivered is easier than trying to sit down. We want to try what you have. Thank you!

An okay burger joint. Satisfying, but nothing special. At least they have waffle fries.
Don’t get their milkshakes. Cheap soft serve crap.

Place smelled awful. Tables were dirty. Soda was warm in broken fridge. Waited 20 mins for overcooked overpriced burgers. Very disappointed!

The first time we came we weren’t happy with how the burgers were cooked. Too well done for us and dry. When we came back we asked for our burgers to not be cooked so long. They offered to cook it anyway we wanted and we chose medium. They were delicious and seasoned perfectly. It’s just a bit expensive if you compare it to a cheap fast food burger but it’s sooo much better that that. We will be back. Tons of drink choices too. Bottles and root-​beer on draft. Yum

The A&W BBQ sauce is amazing! It’s just the right touch of sweetness and doesn’t leave that weird aftertaste some sauces do when they’re too sweet. It’s a must try!
We were told that the burgers were pretty close to perfection so we had to try it. Burgers didn’t disappoint at all. Also, the fries are waffle fries and the seasoning is so so tasty! We’re definitely going back soon!

We came for the sodas and stayed for lunch. It always unnerves me to see stock (in this instance soda bottles) on the floor. It’s not the cleanest of places, not dirty per say, but kind of sticky. The AC is having issues and I’m pretty sure the waitress forgot I ordered a draft root beer.
Okay, so the food is alright but it’s nothing like PT’s or Winnies. And it’s certainly not a burger that is going to fill you up if you’re super hungry. Oh, and sides did not come with our burgers. Fail.

The draft root beer is very good. I had the aviator brand.
The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
The burger was just ok. Not bad but I was hoping for better based on the price. It was over cooked and the beef was dried out.

And the overly salty nature of everything we got was only part of the problem. First off, the AC wasn’t working on a very hot day, which I realize wasn’t their fault. Secondly, they got our order wrong. We both asked for grilled onions on our burgers, and one came with raw and grilled onions and the other with only raw. Thirdly, what respectable burger place serves waffle fries? I asked whether the fries were fresh and the girl at the counter graciously admitted they weren’t, but if she had told me they were waffle fries I would have bailed, not only from the fries but probably from the restaurant. To add insult to injury, they overcooked both our burgers. Both burgers and the aforementioned waffle potatoes were vastly oversalted. I do like me some salt, but everything was so salty it bordered on inedible.
On a completely separate note, the coffee shake we ordered was decent but barely tasted of coffee. Also, for a place that’s been open for such a short time, it just felt grungy inside. Nothing looked clean, most notably the front door which really could use a little Windex. I will not be back. Ended up wishing I had stuck to my tried-​and-​true PT’s Grille.

So here’s the thing. The burger was unbelievably good. The fries were spicy and delicious. The root beer was unique and really cool. HOWEVER… for the price of the burger, fries should have been included! ($ 7 with no fries!!). And the «on tap» root beer was almost $ 3 a glass… and came in a TINY styrofoam cup! What!!!
What Corbett’s needs to do is this: treat your very unique diner like a very unique diner. Serve your root beer in a frosty mug, for goodness sake! Clean up the piles of soda palettes behind the counter! Have actual servers, not just a counter you have to walk up to when you walk in. If you are gonna charge those prices and try to be a niche diner, you need to class the place up. Get some style. Make it feel good to spend over $ 10 for a burger and a root beer! Make me rave about the atmosphere and the service.
To recommend this restaurant, I would have to say… it’s worth going once for the good food, but it’s entirely too expensive and too casual to go back on a regular basis.
UPDATED: The owner left a good comment for me, so I wanted to upgrade my stars. Make no mistake… this a darn good burger. You will love it. And the Root Beer was super cool. And all the sodas are unique and interesting. I still think there is some tweaking to do, but I would recommend you go there at least once — or twice. It is delicious.

Delicious! A great menu with a ton of burger options! Over 200 classic beverages, a draft root beer selection, and amazing milkshakes! Highly recommend!
Little warning that the AC doesn’t seem to keep up so its a little warm inside, but worth it!

This place rocks my socks. I’ve been to their other location in Cary NC which is fantastic as well. This was by far the best burger I’ve had in a while. AND they have gluten free buns which are awesome! This is the first burger joint where my wife and I can truly enjoy a burger together since she is gluten free.
Thanks guys for the friendly service, fantastic atmosphere, and most of all, a freakin amazing burger.

We keep coming back for the get burgers and fries! Tried the other sandwiches this trip and they are equally as great as all of the other food items. My wife is loving the Maple Cream soda, takes like maple syrup with fizz.

FANTASTIC food and literally hundreds of vintage bottled sodas. Burgers freshly made with seasoned waffle fries. A definite trip!

I would consider them the Chick-​fil-​A of the quick service burger industry. Great food great environment and you get what you pay for! The selection of sodas is a nice touch to make it unique as well.

Arrived from California on Monday evening, it’s now Thursday lunch and I’ve been here three times! Chili is delish on both hamburgers and hot dogs. Love the build your own. Sodas galore, waffle fries, baked beans, onion rings and all the sauces. I even learned what cheerwine is and bought some to take home. Staff is friendly and helpful!!! So many choices! I will be back in August and I’m coming here for sure!!! My only regret is I didn’t take pictures before I ate my food.

We have been to the Cary, NC location several times, in fact everytime we go to the Triangle area we make it a point to stop at Corbetts. So we were super excited to see a Corbetts open here in Wilmington. Food is always excellent! The burgers are hand pattied and you can definitely tell the difference that the care and quality makes over other places.
The staff is very friendly, always attentive and made sure that our food was excellent. It’s like they enjoy working there and happy to gave me as a customer. I’m being a little tongue-​in-​cheek, a lot of places that you go to customer service is a lost art.
Also they have excellent shakes, tons of soda variety and amazing waffle fries!
Make sure you say hi to Corbett, he is very friendly and loves to talk soda.

Just opened and the good was delish! Staff couldn’t have been more attentive and caring that we enjoyed our food. My bacon cheeseburger with smoked pepper jack cheese, jalapeño, onions, Tom, and lettuce, ketchup and mayo was perfect for my Memorial Day treat. I even tried the Salted Caramel Milk Shake, I only wished I’d ordered the large! Be sure to check out this new, reasonably priced addition to the a Wilmington Restaurant Scene.
