Church Automotive Testing

Sean took care of my BRZ here, and made noticeable gains in both power and torque. The tune eliminated my torque dip. The car feels great, he explained a bit about what he was doing, and was very interested in ensuring my satisfaction. The tune took about 2 hours as expected.

I had a very positive experience with these guys. Even though I just got a reflash for my stock ecu, they were professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. The car was driven to Hondata which is very close to them. The whole process only took about 30 minutes, and the price i paid was definitely worth it. The car was a day and night difference. This is one of the more proven tuning shops on the West Coast. I had my G37 tuned here a while back. Shawn guided me through getting the same setup he had on his G37 and I picked up about 50RWHP. Some problems with the install but Ryan was able to get things right in the end. These guys are passionate about what they do and extremely knowledgeable.

Really good shop. They will set you up right. Shawn is highly knowledgeable and careful. I had significant gains after replacing turbo on my stock 2003 WRX and Shawn’s open source tune. Highly recommended.

One of the best tuners in the industry. One gripe I have is the lack of communication on their end, which is why I gave them 4 stars. After my dyno/​tune I contacted Shawn multiple time with questions about my datalog and he never got back to me. There are several of my friends who have had this issue with lack of communication as well. Other than this, I would recommend getting tuned by Church.

Let me first say that this isn’t your normal tuner!!! They are actually nice here!!! I have been to Churches twice now and will never go to another tuner again!!! My first tune was done by another shop, I won’t name names, buy it rhymes with Simi floater sports. They were complete jerks and treated me like I was a huge bother, even though I was spending around 5k there. Well at Churches it is a complete different story. They are the nicest guys around and really take the time to do a good safe tune. If you are looking for HUGE numbers this is not the place to go. But if you are looking for great numbers and reliability, then Churches can not be beat.
So they start by taking off all 4 wheels (I have an STI) so it’s all wheel drive. The they spend a good 2 – 3 hours tuning your vehicle. After they are done guy go one a 20 minute ride with the tuner still making adjustments while you are driving, I couldn’t believe it. All the while the customer service can not be beat. Sean, who is the owner is a stand up guy and will do his best to make sure your tune is up to par. Just by seeing all the cars there and the wait time to get an appointment tells me that this is the place to go. CHURCHES has earned my business for Life!!!

I recently took my Pontiac G8 GT after installing a new cam and lifters and Church did a GREAT job of getting her running right again. I was extremely impressed by Sean’s professionalism and the tune was amazing. The only other mod I have is a cat back exhaust but I’m pushing about 70 HP over stock. To top it all off their rates are GREAT. Church is definitely my new tuning shop of choice!

Had my 14 Wrx tuned here today. Was very pleased with the Pro tune Daniel made for me. He is a true profesional. Car runs amazing and no longer has boost creep issues. Made 318hp and 344 ft lbs .
It gets very loud in the shop when they are running the cars. Ear plugs would be a great idea if you are going to be waiting in the shop while they tune.
There were a couple chairs in the shop to sit down while you wait. I didn’t go any farther in the shop, so I don’t know if there is a waiting room.
This is in an industrial area, so there are no shops close by for food or drink. Also, the roads around here are very rough, so if you have a lowered car, beware. The crazy semi drivers don’t seem to care as they are driving full speed ahead.
Bottom line is I would not hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone.

Got my 2015 STI tuned today. Very happy with the results and they explained everything. Even had me drive while he fined tuned. Would recommend this for sure.

Could not be happier with Shaun and Church Automotive. Car had a really bad tune from another shop. I brought it to Shaun with an extremely rough idle and excessive hesitation at the top end. In 3 hours Shaun was able to completely fix my top end issues, gap my spark plugs properly (he discovered they weren’t gapped anywhere near the correct specs), and promised he would take a look at my idle issue again after I checked my car for a vacuum leak since none of his normal idle techniques did anything.
After having another shop check and verify there were no leaks I visited Shaun again who was extremely patient with me and the unique idle issue we were seeing. After working with the TT manufacturer he discovered some tables that were changed quite extremely by the first shop. As promised, Shaun only charged me for the initial tune/​spark plug gapping even though it required another 2 hours of work to get her running properly. Definitely worth the drive from Irvine!

Suck it up and make the drive. After stillen failed to give me any support, my car was rendered useless. I called and begged for them to fit me in the same day and they did. After a couple hours they achieved, by themselves, what a major manufacturer and another shop couldn’t in over a week. I drove home my my new 500hp Z with the biggest smile ever. These guys are so kind and really know their stuff

Well finally got my car back, and what a difference. Night and Day. Come to find out the original ECU was the issue all along. My car runs like a bat out of hell now. It will probably needs some minor tweeks here and there, but i couldn’t be happier with the way Shawn took care of me.
final numbers 402HP 411lbft, from a motor that is suppposed to have 470 at the motor. rear wheel number are crazy awesome.

My comments were not «false» and again, I said nothing against Church Auto, but the incompetent mechanic you have employed there. And the color red wasn’t the concern of the fluid, it was the water-​like consistency, and because of the feedback from my current COMPETENT RELIABLE MECHANIC.
And for the record, he and I no longer being friends has nothing to do with my review. It’s the way he handled the situation when I was concerned about my car. He was very defensive and belligerent.
Please look up the Urban Dictionary meaning of the word: RYANISM. That is what a lot of people in the car industry nicknamed him, because of his numerous errors and lack of knowledge.

This is it, the only person who the beasts trusts to tune his orginal Nissan to. The only place. I repeat the only place. Church is one of the few and far between Nissan doctors of tunning, especially the 20V. Coming here for him is usually a whole day ordeal. When I tag along I bring my Kindle, ipod, tablet, phone and laptop. Its not exactly cheap, especially when your here sometimes as much as him. But Church gets the job done, offers suggestions and tunes his car perfectly. But then the Beast modifies something else on his car he loves more than me and has to retune it again. So I dont ask anymore about the bill. Usually its a few bills. I just know the longer he is there and the more work they have to do, the more its going to cost. But you might as well pay a little more to have it done right verses paying less elsewhere and blowing your motor. We have tracked the car many times and never had any trouble.
Located in a very remote industral area of a town called Wilmington, where the air is poluted with oil and all the surrounding factories and nothing within walking distance to eat. If your lucky the ice cream man cruises by, so keep one ear open at all times. There are a few chairs in the shop and an empty table to work on.
We have also had tuning events here, where we get a group of cars together for a Dyno session at a discounted price. Everyone is always happy.
Yay but Church is the man.

They promised 20% higher numbers over the phone. When I got there, the tuner didn’t seem to care. He just wanted to get the job done. 20% is a big difference which was about 50 hp/​tq in my situation.
Thinking of finding a new shop to get a real tune.
