We stayed here for one night and wish it could have been longer. The town of Wilmington itself was spectacular, and Paula and Steven were such warm, hospitable hosts who seemed truly interested in getting to know each of their customers. We appreciated how sweet they were to our puppy Oakley, and how accommodating they were to us. When we arrived, there was a dog biscuit waiting on the bed for Oakley, and cookies waiting on the night-stand with a pitcher of water, waiting for us. A very nice personalized touch, and very thoughtful! The inn itself was just stunningly beautiful as well, with gorgeous antique furniture and fixtures, luxurious amenities, and such a serene garden and front porch. The location can’t be beat either– just a 5-minute walk to the downtown area, and also in the most gorgeous neighborhood. So lovely to just walk around outside and admire the beautiful houses. Their dog, Sparky, was such a delight, and he got along well with Oakley. The breakfast in the morning was mind-blowing… three very decadent homemade courses, most of which were from their very own garden! This truly is a magical inn with wonderful owners, and we highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, especially people travelling with dogs. Paula and Steven could not have been better!

This was my first trip to Wilmington. We were looking for a place for just Friday night and they had exactly that available on their website– SO it was really easy to book a room. Ok so the cottage is wonderful. Paula and Steven were super friendly and helpful. Paula sat down in the living room with us and we talked about different places in Wilmington. They have a green folder in the room, with their helpful suggestions printed out– they will give you a copy — if you ask. Anyway, I spent some time looking thru that and all the brochures in the hall. I came up with a few items that were interesting(go see the bottle garden & Airlie Gardens– really worth the time) and Paula helped me plan out the order to maximize my time, which was very limited. We stayed in the Crane room which is right by the front door. The room was spacious, huge bathroom. There was coffee outside my door in the morning. Breakfast was enormous & the homemade blackberry ice cream for dessert– who has dessert with breakfast– YUM. Overall really glad we stayed there for the night. Everything you want, private, clean, spacious, walking distance to the Riverwalk. If I could change anything– I would have stayed another night. We weren’t traveling with our dogs, but they allow dogs which is cool imho.

Perfect. We stayed in the Tuscany room… and it was beautiful. It was a huge room with a fireplace along with a cute(and clean) bathroom. Steve and Paula were fabulous… they had ice tea and homemade cookies when we arrived and were very welcoming. The breakfast was delicious… by far the best we had on our week long journey up the coast staying at different B&bs along the way. Highly recommended! Within walking distance to downtown Wilmington(3 blocks).

From the minute I drove down S. 4th Street on the brick-lined streets and the glorious historic homes on either side I knew I had picked a good place to stay. Paula and Steven were very hospitable and were great in recommending places to visit and restaurants to eat at. They have a basket full of menus to peruse to help you decide. For things to do, there is a table of brochures of area attractions. Everything downtown was within walking a couple blocks walking distance which makes this B&B super convenient! The room I stayed in was Jane’s room which consisted of a 4-post queen size bed, a gas fireplace, two sitting chairs and a desk. It had it’s own bathroom with shower. The bed was extremely comfortable and as Michael said, there was plenty of hot water! The breakfast was fabulous, fresh biscuits, frittata, fruit cobbler, fruit and homemade sherbet was one breakfast. Sweet potato pancakes, roasted grapefruit were part of another. And it’s always interesting to talk to the other guests at a B&B. Paula and Steven grow many different herbs in their front garden so when you are entering and exiting the gate, you are sure to smell these wonderful scents. This was my first visit to Wilmington and I am so glad I chose this B&B. When I return, I will definitely stay here again.

After a few less-than-stellar encounters with a few of the area bed and breakfasts, we started going down the list of beds and breakfasts and happened across Camellia Cottage. Tucked just a bit off the«beaten path», it turned out to be some sort of divine blessing; Camellia Cottage may be one of the best B&B’s we’ve ever stayed at. Our hostess, Paula, was absolutely delightful. I commented to my partner after that Paula really seems to love what she does, and it shows. Her knowledge of local restaurants and attractions helped make a good visit to Wilmington great. Our room was more of an apartment, and we could easily have moved in for a month and never felt cramped. The hot water was hot and there was even a washer and dryer there; perfect for salt-water-soaked swimsuits and towels. And Sparky the dog. There’s something perfect about B&B’s brimming with canine love, and something even more perfect about B&B’s that invite you to bring your own well-mannered canine cutie the next time you stay. Breakfast was sumptuous. We did not leave with an empty stomach. And we’ll definitely be back.
