Can you give a 0 on Unilocal?Everything from start to finish with Belak was a nightmare. The owner Barb is the preferred vendor for the Farmhouse weddings. We picked the Farmhouse because the flowers, cake and some other things were included in the overall price. We thought this would be nice because it would reduce some of the planning.
Well I was wrong. The flowers took more time, energy and caused so much stress!
We had 2 meetings to discuss the flowers that would be included in the table arrangements. The first meeting was good, Barb was nice and I felt like I would have a nice arrangement. Then she provided a quote, for well over a $ 1000! For flowers that were supposed to be included in the wedding package, it was strange she was trying to up charge me for everything. So we made another appointment and went back to discuss type of flowers, size, cost, etc. Long story short, she would not give me a reasonable quote and also would not provide a sample/​picture or description of different types that she could provide for what was included in the package. She kept referring me to the Farmhouse’s webpage which had a few pictures of flowers but nothing with roses or the type of flowers I was looking to get.
After coming to an agreement on flowers and making quite a few sacrifices, and an additional charge for a basic centerpiece, I decided to get a quote from another florist. I wasn’t impressed with Belak’s quote (2 lilies, 2 roses, etc.) The other florist was able to provide everything I hoped to have in an arrangement including the lavender roses, white lily and other flowers for less. The flowers I am getting from a different florist will be larger and more full (3 stems of lilies, 5 lavender roses, etc.)
The service I received from Belak was awful. She made me feel like what I wanted in terms of a centerpiece was going to be impossible to make. She insulted me by up charging for everything including vases which was not what we discussed. Her and her staff were then rude to my fiancé, Mom and friend on two different occasions. First, she gave my Fiancé the wrong vases when he went to pick them up to take to the other florist. Then my Mom and friend went and they literally gave them dirty, used vases with glue dots on them and said «we are not doing your flowers so you will have to clean them» After a bit of discussion, rudeness and more negativity, my Mom told them that she was not going to take them home and clean them, and another employee said to come back in an hour and they would take care of cleaning the vases. So after 3 trips to Belak, 2 appointments and them not even doing my centerpieces, the amount of stress and aggravation has been through the roof. If you are thinking of using Belak as a florist for your wedding, you can expect attitude, aggravation and up charges! Please do yourself a favor and never go to this florist.

I have been a loyal customer of Belak Flowers since 2002.
When I was planning my wedding, back in 2002, I didn’t know much about the local area and didn’t have Unilocal (to my knowledge) back then. I first went to a place called «Brandywine Flowers» and placed my entire floral order for my wedding, from the centerpieces, the bouquets, the cake flowers and my portrait bouquet. My bride-​only portraits were 5 months before my wedding.
The day my portrait bridal bouquet was delivered I was devastated. Most of my arrangement was wilting. Within a day I contacted the florist and cancelled my entire wedding order and yes, I forfeited my deposit. (BTW — my original florist went out of business a few years later).
I arranged for a wedding consultation with Belak just a short time later. When my Mom and I met with Barb, I told her my story of how upset I was with my previous florist and showed her pictures. I was near tears just telling the story! She said that she was able to take on our wedding and we began to plan out my dream wedding flowers.
Fast Forward to the morning of my wedding. The house is bustling with my people and activity. I was just finishing dressing when I flowers arrived. Barb’s husband (a thousand pardons to not remembering his name!) delivery all the bouquets and insisted on waiting for the bride’s approval before he left. My family actually has a picture of my face when I opened the box that contained my bouquet. It was as if Belak Flowers found their way into my mind and pulled out the exact image that I had been dreaming of since I was young. No details left behind. My girls’ bouquets were exquisite as were the rest of my wedding flowers from the cake to the centerpieces to the ceremony flowers. Just incredible. Simply Divine.
I had also arranged for Belak to send flowers to my Mom, my salon (where my bridal party spent more of the morning) and my bridesmaids to be delivered while we were on our honeymoon as another thank you to them all. I received pictures and again, nothing less than amazing.
Since that day, I order all my arrangements through Belak. Stopping in to pick up a forgotten birthday bouquet to ordering large arrangements in celebration of each one of my niece’s birthday. To the simple birthday arrangement to elaborate centerpieces for family functions, they also hit the mark.
They know their craft and do it with imagination and genuine dedication that comes through with each and every arrangement.
I can not say enough about this business.

I went to Belak Flowers due to their Unilocal reviews and they definitely lived up to the previous reviews — and more. We think it’s so important to support local small businesses and their service reinforces my belief that when you deal with a «Mom and Pop» type of store, they go above and beyond in both customer satisfaction and product way beyond a national chain!
Thanks guys — both arrangements I purchased were happily received, fresh & lasted longer than my friends expected.

Barb did my flowers for my wedding, and she was phenomenal!
She sat down with my family, fiancé and I for our first meeting and we talked through everything and looked at different photos.
I thought I wanted centerpieces with branches, so Barb put together a sample. And then when I changed my mind, she made a second sample with my new ideas. And she made some changes to make it even more gorgeous!
I loved my bouquets as well, and she even included a second boutteniere for my husband for free because she told me that they tend to get smooshed — which was true! It came in handy.
Cannot say enough great things about Barb and Belak — a joy to work with!

Great staff, great shop, and great people! Barb is amazing and was so helpful in the design of all of Mallory’s wedding floral needs. She took the ideas that Mallory had sent and incorporated not only seasonal selections but also wove an amazing tapestry across the bridal party and attending family! I can’t wait to see the finished product! Definitely go here if you’re in the Wilmington area and in need of a spectacular florist!

A few years ago I was an idiot and forgot to buy holiday flowers for my boyfriend’s mom, and they stayed open late just for me. How cool is that?
They also handle complicated orders (I want 36 yellow roses, each individually wrapped, tied with a plaid bow) with a smile.
On top of the great customer service, their flowers are fresh and long-​lasting, with some interesting and unusual items to choose from, too. If you want something other than boring roses, ask them to get a little nutty.
Long story short: I won’t go anywhere else.
