Beaugard’s Southern BBQ

Delicious ribs! Fresh out of the pit and finger lick-​in good! Great smoky flavor and very tender. The baked beans were also very yummy. Brisket was a little tough. Server was very friendly. Would definitely go back.

COLD FOOD! I’d probably give it 5 stars otherwise. I got the pulled chicken with fries and green beans, and the chicken had obviously been sitting around for a period of time, away from any heat source. The taste of everything was great, but it’s pretty f’ing inexcusable for a restaurant to serve cold food.

The best place to eat in Wilmington. Very good pulled pork and ribs. Reasonably priced. Excellent customer service.

I have had barbecue from all over from North to south and this is the worst I’ve ever had. I have lived in Wilmington all my life and have tried everything on their menu and I refuse to eat there.

Good barbecue and sides. I enjoy the sauce as well. My favorite part is going in and seeing Marty, the owner’s, smiling face. Great guy !

Food might be awesome, bit we will never know because they don’t seem to want to serve us. Walked in last night at 8:47 and were informed that they were closing in 5 minutes and all they were doing was carryout. There was a party of 6 eating in the dining room at the time. Our party of 6 didn’t want to contend with trying to eat in the parking lot. In my experience restaurants don’t turn await customers until closing time. I think the kid behind the counter just wanted to go home and didn’t have any ownership stake.
Then today we took a party of 10 there intending to do lunch. At 12:30 they were closed. Sign in the door said they would open at 3.

I lived in Tennessee for 10 years, so I’ve had some good BBQ in my day. Beaugard’s is right up there. My husband doesn’t like that they chop the pork instead of pulling it, but he agrees with me that the flavor is outstanding.
As much as I love the meat, the sides are just as good. My kids say the macaroni is their favorite of any they’ve had anywhere. I really enjoy the greens. The flavor is full of depth (like all good greens should be) and their hot sauce goes with it perfectly.
The staff is friendly and I’ve only had a positive experience for the many times I’ve been there. This is the place I bring my out-​of-​town guests to.

Beaugards is the bomb. My favorite place to eat in Wilmington. Try the beef brisket or the ribs and you will not be disappointed. Everything is hot and fresh to order, served in a timely manner.

Marty was the most outgoing and energetic person I have ever met! His BBQ is amazing and you should go there! Right now! Go!

only if they had a location closer to the city. Beaugard’s has been open for about 10 years. My father is friends with the owner (Marty) since they are both retired Air Force. I recommend trying the pork sandwich and ribs. Both the Hot and regular bbq sauce are made in house. We always have a bottle of both BBQ sauces at home. Has plenty of room inside and also has drive thru window.

Excellent food, really rude service. We haven’t eaten there in a while, because we can’t get anyone to answer the phone to call in an order when we know they’re open!

In Wilmington for business, and the area’s Unilocal reviews are lacking, at best. Beaugard’s seemed to have the highest reviews so went there for dinner. First thing I noticed — prices are cheap! So a bit skeptical of what to expect, since you usually get what you pay for. Ordered the special, a pulled porked sandwich, tots, and a drink. Ordered mac and cheese as well. I drank about six glasses of sweet iced tea (not as sweet as the dirty south, but perfect in my opinion). I was asked how I wanted the meat — hot, medium or mild. I chose hot — it’s got a slight kick, but it’s not hot, but it was still very good. And since I’m all about the value, I thought it was a bargain. On the way out I ordered a 1lb of brisket to go. Only $ 9. It was tasty as well, but it came chopped — I was expecting slices. I’d go back again. And there was about 8 townies in the place who seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Value was good. However if you are searching for those little gems off the beaten path, this isn’t one of them nor worth the drive from I71. The service was far from friendly and excited to see us as the other reviews said.

To the reviewer who said she didn’t like it cause it was too acidic… IT’S SOUTHERN STYLE BBQ!!! I’m from the Carolina’s and trust me, this is authentic. He family is from Alabama, and the BBQ and the southern hospitality is right up my alley. Makes miss home. Love Marty and his family!!! If you need REAL BBQ… this is the place. Period. If you don’t think so… go eat your ribs with sweet sauce that’s so think you can’t even taste the meat (cause that’s the point of those places). This place gets it right, and when I’m in Ohio, I eat there. Every time.

Terrific experience on our first visit! I had the pulled pork special with fries and BBQ baked beans and a sweet tea to drink. Everything was tasted great, the beans were amazing and the pork is melt in your mouth. I do suggest medium sauce, I ordered the mild and my wife ordered the medium so we could compare. On top of the delicious food and sweet tea the owner came out and personally checked on every table. He was very friendly and gracious to every customer in the restaurant and we can’t wait to go back. Before we were finished dining my wife decided we would be back and she would try the chicken and I would try the brisket, although the owner recommended the ribs. I will update after our next visit.

Love, love this place! The owner and his family are so friendly. The food is the best BBQ I’ve had in a long time. They serve the sandwiches the right way with coleslaw on top! Everything my family and I have tried has been great. If you don’t want BBQ they have cheeseburgers that are pretty decent and they have good catfish as well.

I don’t like to disagree as I usually love the restaurants my boyfriend introduces me to, but this definitely isn’t my type of BBQ. Way too vinegary and everything falls apart. The bread was old and stale, there was very little meat in my pulled pork sandwich so all you taste is the horridly acidic sauce. The people are very nice though, but in despair they talk about how their town became so poor after 2008, so customers who feel bad mask it by giving them a good review even though the food is terrible. Honestly, they should or someone else could revamp by doing a much better BBQ joint to attract more people to their city. If it became flavourful and upbeat, customers would be lining up no matter how far it is. Clearly the restaurant is completely empty because the food has no appeal to people of good taste.

This is great BBQ! The food ws outstanding! I tried the pulled pork sandwich (½ lb with their homemade hot BBQ sauce) and it was one of the best pork sandwiches I have ever eaten. I also tried the baked beans which I liked and the cole slaw (also good).
But the food isn’t the only thing great about this restaurant. My family and I were made to feel right at home as soon as we walked in. The owner was right behind the kitchen counter, welcoming us. He acted like we have been friends our whole lives. I’ve never felt more welcome in any restaurant (I mean that). The owner even walked around the restaurant checking how everyone was doing.
I will definitely be back next time I’m in the neighborhood!!! Do not miss this place!

Awesome BBQ! The ribs are good, but so is the pulled pork. They put a little slaw on them, which got me hooked on doing this everywhere. It’s just a small operation in an old fast food restaurant, but the BBQ is worth going out of the way for. I live over an hour away, and I intend on making an excuse!
