This is probably the most well-organized antique store that I have ever visited! The focus here is on smaller pieces rather than furniture. The items are all beautifully displayed and organized by categories… cameras, pipes, glassware, jewelry, skeleton keys, salt dips, silver boxes, etc. If you have a special interest in any particular item type, you can go right to that specific display area and browse their entire array of inventory. The prices are reasonable and, in most cases, clearly marked. I did not have to ask to see prices on multiple items that are kept in cases like I do at most stores. This is the first antique store that I have ever come across that has a large array of Catholic and religious items… rosaries, icons, medals, holy water fonts, etc. The gentleman at the desk is helpful and friendly if you have questions, but otherwise allows you to browse to your heart’s content without bothering you. I had a couple of questions, and I found him to be extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

This place is dangerous for an old soul like myself who is stuck in the wrong era. I could literally drop thousands of dollars here and not regret a single penny of it. I always venture inside whenever I am downtown and always end up coming home with something amazing. Its like taking a step back in time which makes my heart flutter with happiness. This past weekend, I drug my husband along with me as I have had him on a Mad Men marathon kick and he has begun to embrace the art and style of the 50’s &60’s and this my friends, makes him practically perfect in every way. For me, we found an amazing orange 1960’s Viking Glass piece that is going to look so fabulous in my kitchen and he came home with a beautiful crystal decanter with glasses. There are mountains of antique dishes, cups, jewelry, lamps, toys, furniture and random décor. Something for everyone. I am actually going to head back there in a few days to acquire an old antique globe I found for my sons bedroom. and lets be honest here, I will probably have a whole trunk load of treasures coming home with me right along with it. There is also an adjoining rental space available that a kind old woman has been inhabiting lately, who I must say, is quite a doll and has amazing things. I love antiquing, Its somewhat of an addiction and Antiques of Old Wilmington is definitely an antiquers heroin.

This is a lovely antique store. Their areas of speciality seem to be glassware/stemware, lighting fixtures, and cameos and amulets, but they have a little of everything. I recently purchased a set of 4 beautiful vintage cocktail(on the rocks) glasses in great condition for $ 29. The man behind the counter was friendly and welcoming, not snooty or suspicious as some antique store clerks can be. Definitely give it a try if you are shopping for antiques or vintage items!
