Thank you David! Your food was excellent and the help you and Amy provided planning how much and what to get was invaluable! Everyone raved about the food and the party was a huge success in part because of your food. Thanks again for everything Keith A Torrisi Wilmington, MA

I changed my job ~2 years ago and unfortunately am not near AJ’s anymore, and am unable to eat here frequently. I was craving a good steak and cheese the other day and made a special trip here… The owner recognized me, remembered my name, and remembered my favorite order! it was an awesome experience and the food tasted just as good as I remembered! Steak and cheese is the way to go. Or the meatballs !!

Love this place, BUT they never have Braided Rolls after 4pm. They have tons of regular sub rolls… Please make more braided rolls, if you sell out of them that means we all love them.

I stopped in to AJs for the first the today, and I have to say it was pretty good. I was disappointed that they did not have any steak tips available, my first choice, but I ended up ordering a chicken cutlet sub with roasted red peppers. The cutlets were good, and I liked the bread as well. Probably could have used more veggies, but I’d just order it a little differently next time. The place is small but it’s clean and very nice inside. The menu is on 5 large bright monitors. It seemed like all the customers knew each other. Always a good sign when it’s a favorite of the locals. Prices seemed reasonable, under $ 10 for a large sub and soda out of the fridge. The staff was a little frantic with the high traffic around lunch time, but they still took the time to bring my food out to me instead of just calling me up to the counter. Its these little touches that really make for a good customer experience. I’d definitely recommend AJs if you are in the area.

This review is based on the service we received earlier. We were made to feel VERY uncomfortable from the first encounter with the cashier girl w glasses until we left. I felt as if they did not want us to dine in. We never been here before. We are not regulars. We decided to come based on watching the Phantom Gourmet. Wow, what a mistake. We began to place our order and was given the option to eat in or take out. We wanted to eat in. It seemed like a big deal to the cashier girl since they had already put the chairs up on the tables and she pointed that out to us. In addition, she just had to inform us that they close at 9 when I told her that we wanted to eat there. I asked her the time and she told me that it was 8:15. Um, 45 minutes… I told her we just want to eat, and not sit around all night. I ordered a calzone, my friend ordered a sub. I was informed by cashier girl that the calzone will take some time to cook. I didn’t know how to take that as if since the clock was ticking would it give us even less time to sit down to eat? Or was she discouraging me to not order a calzone at 8:15 at night? Whatever the reason, we felt very unwelcome. She did say that it will take longer to cook than a sub so my friend would prob get his meal first. When the meals arrived, my calzone came first. Assuming they forgot his sub since we were told it would be out first he said I ordered a sub too. Another female who brought mine out told him she only has two hands! Rude Rude Rude. I really wanted to love this place as I have seen on their web page that the owner(who couldn’t have been on scene tonight) is compassionate towards people with Autism. I have a sibling with Autism and I support businesses that care about Autism. Sadly we might not come back.

Great place to eat… I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. I enjoyed it very much and I believe my husband liked it even more.

Recently I ordered catering from AJ’s. Since I have always been happy with their food I thought this a no brainer. First the customer service was not impressive: no smiles or friendlieness. The order was late and I had to call looking for it. I got the lemon pepper chicken on rice pilaf — Bland and very oily. Chicken, broccoli on ziti — bland and also oily. Sausage, onions and peppers — very good. Baked ziti — good. All and all these were easy dishes I could have made much better then AJ’sexcept for time constraints. The Phantom review was 2 years ago on 1 item. Think I’ll stick to pizza.

I have only bought subs here so I can only review subs. These subs are great! Fresh, cold, and the bread is sooo good. Nice that it is locally owned and operated. I think I will try the pizza next since they make the dough fresh. Oh and they make the sub bread fresh daily too. So long to that other national chain sub place. From now on my subs are from AJ’s

Ordered a couple pizzas from here about a week ago. The dough/crust was perfect! Hands down the best pizza place in the area!

The large Chicken Parm Calzone is by far the best I’ve come across in the area. They by no means skimp on the chicken, and the large is big enough to feed 4 – 5 easily.

Saw that they won a «Sandie» award from Phantom Gourmet for their meatball sub. I love a good meatball sub and use that and a chicken Parm as a way to rate a sub shop. So I drove over from Saugus to try it out. Wasn’t worth the drive. If I remember right they showed the sub to be on a braided roll and it wasn’t, I got a plain sub roll. Also looked like it had a lot of cheese too, mine didn’t. And strike 3 are the meatballs. Not all that flavorfull. Almost plain if that’s even possible. Don’t know how they won this«award» but I’ve had better.

AJ’s Kitchen has always been hit-or-miss with me. Their pizza and subs are pretty good, but their salads stink. AJ’s service is always what kills me. The first time I tried to order delivery — 8:30pm on a Friday night — I was told that they were closing at 9:00 and were no longer taking delivery orders. I understand not taking orders at closing time, but it was 30 mins before closing and I live right down the street! My roommate really likes their pizza, so we thought we’d try again a few months later. We were told that if they were too busy and were not taking delivery orders. Really? Isn’t this how most pizza places make money? We opted for pickup. Every time we’ve tried to order since we’ve had about the same results — slow, rude service or no delivery option. On a good note, we also had AJ’s cater a party that turned out to be fairly decent.

I went to Aj’s today to attempt the«Godfather Challenge». The Godfather is a 2′ long Chicken Parm Calzone with 10 Chicken Breasts in it, as well as extra cheese and extra sauce, and weighs in at over 5lbs. The meal costs $ 22. If you are able to finish it within 1 hour, the meal is free AND you get a free T-shirt. The Calzone tastes excellent, but it was too much of a good thing for me. I was able to eat 8 out of the 10 pieces. All of the staff was extremely friendly, and I could tell they were pulling for me to finish this beast of a meal. I don’t know what people are talking about when they insult the service at this restaurant. They were quick to help me, and the meal was prepared in a timely manner as well. The dining area isn’t very large(can sit maybe 16 – 20 people) and the parking lot isn’t huge, but those are small gripes considering how excellent the food and service is.

A little hole in the wall where they have subs, pizza, and pasta. Went here with a friend as he was farewelling away from the area. They have a few tables but do not expect a lot of seats. so don’t come with a big crowd. I actually got the pasta with chicken here. It was pretty huge so I actually split it up for two meals. It’s good bang for your buck. they also have some sort of food challenge which I didn’t see anybody partaking it. I’d come again. but nothing overly tasty here in my opinion.

I was led to this place by the phantom gourmet. I saw their Italian sub on T.V. and thought it looked very appetizing. So naturally I decided to go here and give some of their subs a shot. First I’ve tried the Steak Bomb. It was great, the bread was very fresh and soft. The steak was quality, and tasted great. Probably one of the best sub shops in the area. The calzones look incredible, just have not tried one yet. Next time I will for sure. I didn’t try the Italian, but it did look great, and from word of mouth it is as good as it looks. The portions are a good size, so I have not left here still hungry. The dining area is a little small, but all the times I’ve been here I have not had any problem being able to sit and eat. But, I could see at lunch time it running out of seats pretty quickly. The staff is friendly as well, which is always a plus. I look forward to trying more food from their menu.

Let me tell you why this place has my favorite subs in the area. Their bread is fresh baked and frankly I would be happy just eating loaves of it for dinner. However, I get turkey and cheese here with onions, pickles and lettuce. Here’s the catch: they dice all those goodies. Which means when you take a bite you don’t have an onion dangling from your mouth or a pickle smacking against your chin. Each bite has equal parts of meat, cheese, lettuce, pickle, and onion. And, even more impressive, you can save half your sandwich and pick it up 2 hours later and the bread’s not all soggy and sad. So why not 5 stars? I’m not a fan of the brand of chips they sell and I wish they had fountain soda rather than bottled soda. I might stop in for the pizza one day, but they’re sandwiches are too good to pass up!
