Update: I took bike into a bike mechanic and they were appalled by the installation of my lights, alignment and overall condition oft bike after «Higher Geat» took money from me for NOTHING

This place is terrible unfortunately I had a bad experience here I purchased a bicycle that was too big for me no one bothered to even help me size it on top of that the mechanic with a beard and Malcolm X style glasses refused to true up the front wheel even though it was clearly out of balance claiming it would «adjust itself as you ride it» I took it to Green Bay cycles which is a much better shop might I add and they adjusted the spokes on the wheel The truth is he was just too lazy to adjust it After I took it home and rode it for a day I realized it was too large and my reach was stretched out. I took it back the next day and when I told the owner of the shop I would like to return the bike he immediately turned from a nice person to a jerk used car salesman type personality claiming they did not make the bike in the size I wanted even though they do. after confirming I was right on the bikes website he said he would order it I told him I found the bike cheaper somewhere else that did not make him happy when I told him where he threatened to tattle on the shop for selling it for what he claims was «too low» then he said he would match it I asked him to not tattle on the other bike shop he refused he then insisted that I had buyers remorse and he knew the real reason why I didn’t like the bike I explained to him that it was because of the fit and my bad experience with the mechanic refusing to adjust my bike wheel The owner then got in my face very closely speaking to me in a very threatening and aggressive manner he finally took the bike back after much arguing it was a very tense and quite scary experience I am a normal nice person who never writes Unilocal reviews especially not at this length I do not recommend going to this bike shop I would say the best bike shop is Green Bay cycles in Hubbard Woods. Higher gear does not care about their customers at all just money oh and on top of that there was a sign out front that said 25% off all 2014 bikes The bike was sold to me at full price and it was a 2014 bike he turned red and would not make eye contact when I brought this point up thank you

I stopped in here when my recently tuned road bike was making a terrible grinding noise at the turnaround point of a 30-​mile ride from Chicago. It was on a Sunday morning just before they were scheduled to open at noon, but I knocked on the door and the employee was very nice to let me in and answer my question.
He offered great advice — that I should take my bike back to where I got it tuned up because he would have to charge me for the work.
The shop was clean and looked nice, so I will surely be back to browse when I’m in the area. Looks like a good shop from my limited experience.

Higher Gear just restored my day. Husband knocked over my bike just as we were getting ready for a ride. The brakes got messed up and the wheel couldn’t turn. We brought the bike to Higher Geat. I assumed I’d have to leave it for at least several days. They fixed it as I waited in about 5 minutes. Thank you! They also fixed my husband’s recumbent last week, though he had to leave it for a few days because there was more to adjust. The brakes and gears hadn’t been properly adjusted at another shop. We both appreciate the great service and highly recommend Higher Gear. Nice selection of bike stuff too.

This store (and the one in HP) is the best! Fred is a great manager of the store and they really know their stuff. Good from kid’s bikes to elite road bikes. I’ll go to them for everything from new bikes to water bottles. A great neighborhood shop.

Got my order wrong 4 times in a row. Either too busy to care or incompetent

Bought my daughter’s biker here. Real pro’s, pleasant to deal with, and great after sales service. High quality products, intelligent and experienced sales staff… Would definitely shop here again.
