My comparison(like all other burger semi-fast food comparisons) will be off of Five Guys. First off I agree that this place gives you a pricier burger with a McDonalds feel to it. The dining room layout needs to be redone to make it look a bit more credible. The burger itself was good, but nothing to rave about. Get to choose whatever toppings you want(like 5 guys), but the taste wasn’t there for me. The fries were just garbage considering the price you are paying. Soggy and barely edible. Mondays they do a $ 5 burger and Thursday is $ 3 hot dog. You make the call if it’s even worth going for the specials. My personal opinion is no.

I’ve eaten here twice so far, once alone and once with two other people. BurgerMonger is in what was once a Ruby Tuesday restaurant(not a McD’s as another reviewer suggested). It’s a hybrid of a counter/table service restaurant, and both times I found the staff to be very friendly, helpful to «newbies,» and had them check in on us several times while we were in our booth eating, including clearing away empty plates(real plates and silverware, not plastic/paper). So on the service side I’d give them four stars. It felt more like a restaurant experience than other counter service places like Chipotle. On to the food: I found the burgers to be really good, well cooked, a nice size, and with plenty of toppings on offer. Their basic burger is $ 6.99, which includes as many of a huge array of toppings as you wish. I got aged Swiss cheese, fried onions, lettuce, tomato, and jalapenos, for example. «Premium» toppings like bacon cost extra. If you take advantage of all the toppings, the burger isn’t that bad of a deal. If you just get a basic burger, then I can see it seeming expensive. TIP: burgers are $ 5 on Mondays, saving you $ 1.99. We also bought milkshakes, which were a big letdown and pricey at $ 4.99. They are purportedly made with Hagen-Daz ice cream, but were so thin that it was hard to tell what kind of ice cream(if any) was in them. More like flavored milk. Finally, the fries were pretty good, hand-cut boardwalk-style fries. Ours could have been a bit crisper, but were fairly good.

A 2.4999 would be more appropriate. I found the Monger to be aesthetically boring, lacking in customer service and a bit overpriced. On the positive side of the ledger, the burger was decent. Topping options are plentiful. It appears as if BM moved into this spot in the mall without making many major(or for that matter minor) renovations. It looks like an outdated McDonald’s dining area. I found the front end employees to appear bored and disengaged. I asked an employee for malt vinegar and she gave me a clueless expression. She did end up delivering on my request but her original reaction was quite alarming for a burger and frie establishment. I can only assume that she was a newer staff member. My lunch consisted of a single burger w/cheese and bacon, mushroom, tomato, ketchup/mayo, a small order of fries and a fountain drink for a grand total of $ 14 and change… Note: The Burger Monger is located in the mall next to the entrance by the carousel.

Hello Gregory Grookett here aka Mr Burger to review and rate Burger Monger. The burgers here are a little pricey but well worth every penny they are so juicy and fresh. It’s not just your normal beef its from Heart Brand beef which is well above USDA standards for quality and fat content which helps with cholesterol and heart disease so that’s hard to find in your average burger joint. I have been to this place on many occasions and today I got the double cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese lettuce tomato onions on their signature soft bun accompanied with their fresh cut fries. Let me tell you what a great burger it was Gregory Grookett highly recommends coming here for a good burger. After you place your order they give you a number to put on your table and then they come out and serve you condiments such as ketchup salt and pepper are readily available at the table with the salt and pepper being in grinders. They also have a wide selection of Milkshakes with haagen-dazs brand ice cream a premium brand. So if you consider yourself a burger connoisseur as I do stop in when you’re in the area Gregory Grookett highly recommend this place as a good burger eatery.

The concept, high quality beef with high quality toppings in a fast casual setting is one worth considering. The execution leaves something to be desired. I ordered a simple burger. It was a six oz burger, which is bigger than your normal burger, but not overly big. The bun is toasted but really did not have much flavor even though it was supposedly smeared with garlic butter. The pickles on the hamburger were good quality, but the burger failed because of how it was cooked. There was no sear, the juices leaked out, leaving shoe leather beef like hockey puck on a bun. The place has potential but at the prices they are charging they are not giving the customer value.

I really like this place! I don’t consider myself a burger connoisseur but I am familiar with over eating. Also, while people often complain about prices they rarely consider value. The portions are literally perfect for the price. Especially on Mondays, when they lower the price even more! They give you the entire compliment of toppings(sans premium ones) for free essentially. They cook your burger make to order. They shakes are phenomenal, using Hagen Das ice cream. The fries are adequate, but made delicious with a side of their own Burger Monger sauce. When I am finished my meal I’m satisfied instead of uncomfortably stuffed. Mentally tho? I don’t know if I’ll ever get enough of this place!!!

Went again yesterday & loved it! My friend enjoyed her gluten free bun with her burger and I lived my challah roll. I especially like the lovely selection of toppings. The fries are out of this world! Don’t miss this place if you get a chance.

Decent food, but not enough of it, and for far too much. I was excited that no grain options were offered, but it’s simply a bed of lettuce, not a wrap. This may be a trifling point, but wrapping up a burger in lettuce means more of that traditional feel in one’s hands. It creates the illusion of a bun. This also might be one of the reasons why I felt we were overcharged. Anyway, two burgers, one with no toppings(keep that in mind before I share how much I paid) and one with cheese, an egg, and guacamole. No fries, no drinks. All for the low, low price of $ 19.56. You could pay that much at a chain restaurant and get a great deal more than two burgers on three lettuce leaves. Maybe it was the taste of being ripped off lingering in my mouth but I didn’t find anything to write home about on those two $ 9.78 burgers, either.

Great fries, burger and veggie burger. Fast service and friendly staff. Oh and the shake is great. All around simple but gosh good stuff. That’s it.

If you want to get sick, by all means eat here. The food can be described in one word: GREASY! It was just grease, on top of grease, on top of grease. Burger was undercooked/practically raw. Fries were of course greasy and soggy. Worst place ever! Don’t even think about comparing this to Five Guys. Five Guys is so much better!

It’s basically a more expensive Five Guys with average milkshakes. 2 burgers, 2 milkshakes, and a plate of fries was $ 27. Staff were yelling to each other about the dead mouse in the back while we were ordering. I’m sure that’s more common than I like to think, but still stupid and off-putting to yell about it in front of customers. Also, I got sick later, but greasy food does that sometimes, so it might not have been entirely BM’s fault. My wife did not get sick, eating the same food. This was our second time here and far less satisfying than the first. If you want a good burger, go to a sit-down restaurant where a server takes your order. I recommend Burger Bar.

The classic Burger Monger burger had a nice flavor with fresh ingredients(pepper jack, grilled onions, mushrooms) in a buttered, toasted bun. My kids liked their Mini Mongers, too. This place is much better than Elevation Burger and on par with Shake Shack. I have no idea if it’s because of the meat they use, which is some kind of Kobe/Wagyu variant(kobe burgers never really tasted much better than regular sirloin to me). I think it has more to do with the cook in the back preparing my food, so on a different day maybe the experience might be different. Who knows? I know that on a Tuesday, it was pretty good. I’m glad that my kids and I have finally found a good place to eat in the mall. I love the college discount, too.

Disgusting It started with a gentleman taking my order when a waitress stopped him and turned to me and said um your gona wait Mister when she continued to badger the guy taking my order To the point he apologized over and over and comped our drinks because she was so rude. Then we get to the table OMG do they ever wash the tables I put our drinks down along with my receipt and I couldn’t pick the receipt up again it was stuck to the nasty greasy gross table My daughter was wearing a nice dress which is wrecked by all the grease in the booth Looking around the manager is wearing jeans which haven’t been washed in weeks The food is slop must have been a half pound of salt on the fries I cant tell you how gross this place is I will never return and will make it my mission to make sure no one I know will ever waste their time and money going here

Burger monger does not look impressive when you stand at the entrance. That changed when it was time to order. Tons of toppings. Endless combinations. I would definitely recommend the burger and I would eat it again. I didn’t order the fries so I can’t talk about those…

My first time trying this place. And I stubble to a $ 5 burger Monday which was really great. I had a regular burger with Swiss cheese on a gluten free bun with a side of fries and a drink. Burger was cooked perfectly and the fries was nicely fried with no extra grease it looks like it’s was freshly cut there. The service was great too. Definitely going back!

Service was good and that was about it. I have to go home and wash the grease off my face now. Burger was greasy and not very flavorful. Fries were super salty. My kids have belly aches now. Very expensive for fast food quality. Go down the street to Elevation Burger.

Wow great place. 5 Stars. The buns are baked here and were perfect. The burger was flavorful. I got the kids burger and it was more then enough. I had it well done with pepper jack cheese, grilled sweet onions and mayo. I highly recommend you try this place. Everything is cooked to order the way you want it. They also have 3 flavors of unsweetened tea.

Delicious and totally reasonable. The beef and chicken is excellent, but my favorite is the veggie burger. Lots of veggies and grains, and wonderfully spiced. I could eat here every day. Also the staff is awesome. They constantly make rounds to see if you want refills and are happy with your meal. Last we were there, they gave us a free dessert because they felt that they were taking too long to bring out our order. We didn’t even realize, as it had been well under 10 minutes that we waited. Edited 3÷27÷14 — Johnny(sp?) is a gem — exactly the kind of person you want to have working at a restaurant. From day one, he’s been super friendly, very informative, and damn good at customer service. Back in college, I was a manager of a Qdoba for a few years, and finding someone skilled in customer service is one of the hardest parts of managing a busy business. Customers tend to be frustrating little shits, so staying cool and upbeat regardless can be a huge challenge. We were there yesterday, and Johnny told us he is also the opening manager of a yogurt place, on top of being a college student. Way to go! Also, their hot dogs are ridiculously good. They use HeartBrand Beef dogs, which is great, because it is the only thing on the menu for which I can come close to figuring out the nutrition info. They also have great deals, including $ 5 burgers on Mondays, $ 5 chicken sandwiches on Wednesdays, and a meal deal for a hotdog, fries, and a drink for(I think) $ 6.99.

The food was very good– nicely cooked medium rare burger. I love the kobe beef concept. All of the sides I ordered were very good, including the slaw. My main gripes are with the concept itself. The restaurant menu was extremely small and cluttered, with the main items(burgers) all the way at the bottom of the page. Having so many toppings that you could add or put on the side made the ordering process confusing and very long. Why not just put the toppings in a bar on the side like Baja Fresh? This will greatly speed up the ordering process and eliminate errors. Or you just have pre-set burgers– e.g. The California Burger. It will also allow them to highlight the high quality burgers pictorially on the menu board, versus having a laundry list of toppings dominating the board. I found the décor to be a bit drab, a la a Burger King design circa 1985. With a bit more creativity and branding– better music, nicer colors, some design elements on the wall and tables, this can be fixed. In the end the food is really good, but until they fix some major branding problems, they are going to have some problems staying in business. Maybe this doesn’t matter in Tampa, but in the Northeast it does. Most of the people were walking out, because it’s not all that appealing.
