I had a great experience at BEVS on Easter Sunday when my dog got a piece of hard plastic lodged in his mouth. They were kind, professional, and fast, and I was greatly appreciative of the reasonable charge for an emergency vet. I also really appreciate the tech/receptionist’s professionalism and I’d like to apologize for being so stressed and cranky when I called for directions as I was lost (thanks, gps!). Obviously I hope to not need emergency service in the future, but if I do again, I feel confident using this hospital any time. Thank you so much!!!

I was sent to BEVS yesterday by another vet when my tiny yorkie was very sick, and could not keep down food for days. They did an ultrasound and found a obstruction in her tiny bowel, and did emergency surgery. Her gut was compromised and septic.
Doctor Cordner was professional and attentive and Doctor Zamprogno is an exceptional surgeon and did a phenomenal job on my tiny little muffin Olive. She isn’t out of the woods yet, but the care she is receiving gives me peace of mind that they are doing their best to save her life.
The hospital has long visiting hours so you can see your four legged babies until 11pm, which really meant a lot to me because I would hate for my dog to feel abandoned by her family after such a trauma. Everyone was so kind and the atmosphere was bright, clean and nurturing and you can tell that the whole team at BEVS are serious professionals in every way.

Took my dog in because she was having trouble urinating. After X-​rays it showed she had bladder stones. The vet said the only way to remove them was surgically. The next day, we took her to our regular vet and she said that there are two types of stones and she has the ones that can be removed/​dissolved via medicine and special diet. Kind of upsetting the vet didn’t even mention that as an option– it would have given me some more piece of mind that night.

My boyfriend and I brought our cat here one night and we were very displeased. The vet that treated Ella wasn’t friendly, and we were completely rushed out. They ended up charging us $ 250.00 for nothing… They sent us home with medicine that we didn’t notice until the next morning was for DOGS. I feel for the price they charge they need to get it right.

Our dog started leaning and getting lethargic in a matter of 10 minutes. We called BEVS. We were seen shortly after arriving.
They were comforting but were serious about Rex and his symptoms first and foremost. They Explained in detail what could be going on, what our options were and the costs in detail.
At no time did we feel rushed or like unnecessary tests or procedures were offered or done.
Communication was fantastic. We felt that everyone was on the same page.
Rex is home, healthy and we are grateful.
The cost was incredibly reasonable with it being after regular business hours,
overnight constant monitoring,
IV MEDS + TLC and the outcome.

Sadly, my nine-​month old puppy got into a car accident, and I took her to BEVS, under my vet’s recommendation. The experts at BEVS properly diagnosed her injuries, which were severe, including trauma to the brain, and she was unable to move her front legs as a result. My little sweetheart. It was a very difficult thing to do, but I knew that the humane decision was to have her euthanized, and the vets at BEVS were supportive of my decision. I would like to cite Dr. Burke in particular for her outstanding and compassionate care. As I kneeled there over my poor baby, in tears, Dr. Burke reminded me that it wasn’t my fault. I had felt so guilty. They did a tremendous job of taking care of my poor girl in the final 24 hours of her life, and I give BEVS my highest commendation.
*Edited to add that a couple weeks after my puppy died, I received a card from the Humane Society saying that BEVS had made a donation to them in honor of my little girl. This was very touching.

Right now I could just hug the entire BEVS team.
My dog is my best friend and my therapy animal. When she was hurt late last night I was BESIDE MYSELF stressed. I was probably more upset than she was, even though her ear was torn nearly in half.
The BEVS folks were friendly and helpful and thorough and not only provided excellent medical care for my dog but helped me to keep myself calm. The doctor spent time going through each and every one of my concerns and did pre-​surgery bloodwork to make sure my senior dog could handle it. She even followed up with me on other health questions I had not related to the accident.
The price was about what I’d expect and experienced at other emergency vets, around $ 700 for bloodwork, anaesthesia, stiches, an e-​collar and meds. The bloodwork, around $ 200, was optional and they walked me through whether to elect that part of it. I already knew I wanted it but I appreciated that they gave me different price levels and didn’t at all push me for something more expensive.
They also let me elect whether to resuscitate, which I’ve never had a vet ask. It definitely made me feel like they were taking my concerns seriously.
Overall they spent a lot of time with me and did extra things like helping me wrap my dog’s head up when we left as I asked. They were friendly and upbeat despite how distressed and tearful I was, which I appreciate. My dog and I were both well taken care of and I’m so grateful to have her home safe.
My only suggestion: I know they had more critical cases to handle before us and that’s totally fair, I would have benefitted from an early-​on statement like «we think your dog is in stable condition, so don’t worry. We estimate we’ll get to her in half an hour,» or similar, as well as what to do if she started to pass out or get more acutely sick while we were waiting. That would probably just be for my own sanity as I’m sure they had a handle on how acute or not our case was. If you’re more assertive than I am you could just ask that question.

I typically do NOT fill one of these out, but your service was so outstanding, I feel compelled to share with everyone that will listen.
There was an accident involving my dog, and being from out of town I had no idea where to go. I eventually got through on an emergency contact phone number at another animal hospital and they suggested the Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialist. I drove nearly two hours to get there worrying at every mile that my dog would die before I reached you.
When I arrived, I was seen immediately and within minutes, I was beginning to calm down given BEVS thoroughness and calmness in examining my best friend. They said that they wanted to run some test and that I could wait around or come back in an hour. When I came back, they told me that she was going to be okay, and that they wanted to just keep her overnight for observations. «Do you want to see her», they asked. «Yes I do.» I replied. As soon as I saw her, I bawled like a baby.
I picked her up the next day, and I have to say, I thought that the bill would be more. It was actually less that the low estimate, but at that point I really didn’t care what it cost. I was so grateful that my dog was going to be okay. It turns out that that wasn’t the end of the story. BEVS contacted my vet back in Brookline, NH and provided them with extensive details of the testing results and treatment. Within a few days, my home vet called us at home to follow up. He was very impressed with the information provided which validated my positive impressions even further.

I cannot thank you enough BEVS for the way you took such good care of my best friend. I will never forget it.

These guys are fantastic. Late on a Friday night after our regular vet gave our cat a set of expensive shots that induced severe vomiting (without warning us of any possible side effects), we were forced to take kitty to the emergency vet. This visit was the same price as the initial vet visit; the difference was that they literally saved his life. Not only that, they reassured us repeatedly over the phone for the rest of the evening when we called in to ask about changing symptoms. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and efficient. Highly recommended.

BEVS is great. Ive been there for more than one occasion with our dogs but this past has been a theee day treatment and a life saving experience. Dr. Amanda is fabulous, shes so wonderful, detailed, and trusting. I love all of the staff, clearly my poodle does too. After our visit to go see him during treatment he headed back with the vet without a worry or fear. Love seeing that. The $ is worth it to have the beat care.

Our experience with Bevs has been the best I’ve ever had with any sort of veterinarian care facility. Our dog had a very serious run-​in with a Porcupine and the vets and staff were amazing. This happened about 1.5 months ago and we still have to go back once in a while to get a quill removed here and there! We have seen a total of three vets and probably almost every staff member that works there at this point, and everyone has been great. I can tell that Bevs really cares about our dog and his health. Every single time I have called I have spoken to someone friendly and eager to help us out. Bevs has been extremely generous with our situation and really has gone above and beyond what I ever expected a vet facility to do! Of course I hope that no one has to go to Bevs for an emergency animal visit, but I can assure you that if you have to have emergency pet care, this is the best place to go!

Add the word «emergency» and the price skyrockets… that I expected. It’s that way with the word «wedding» too but, as with the case there, we all just have to shut up and accept it. So, when our «little princess» found herself with a mouth full of quills just past the hours of our local vet, we had no choice but to take her to BEVS. I was warned on the phone that it would be $ 100 just to walk in the door but it was either that or have her hate us forever for trying to pull quills out of her nose. The women there were very friendly and upfront with the risks of knocking her out so they could proceed with the quill removal. They also clipped her nails and gave her a rabies shot while she was out!
I am disappointed to hear of the bad reviews because we had a good experience. But we are quite relieved to know that there is an option for our pets should something occur during our local vet’s off hours. Thanks BEVS!

It’s more of an «ehhhh, Okay.» 3 stars based on the fact that they are the ONLY place in the area for basically all of Northern and Central Vermont that I am aware of, for emergency care. Be prepared to shell out the $ 100 minimum, just for walking through the door.
My dog ate a bunch of aspirin, and was vomiting blood, so we had to go there. After the hour drive, we had to wait in the waiting area, nervous and alone, for some time.
While waiting, I witnessed two women leaving with a shoebox, crying. I’m assuming they had a dead pet with them. Not very reassuring, let me tell you. You’d think they’d have a side exit for patients that just lost a pet??? When we did get into an exam room, we were left alone to wait longer, and my dog began vomiting again, on the floor. I had no idea what was happening, and felt helpless. I had explained I lived an hour away, as it was about 11:30 pm, but I was told I HAD to pick her up first thing in the morning (7 or 8). (They wanted to keep her for observation, but ended up sedating her.) That sucked, as I was exhausted from the ordeal, and had to drive home in the middle of the night and back at the crack of dawn. The overall cost was about $ 600.
I did call them another time, regarding a laceration on my dogs ear. She somehow sliced her ear open and was bleeding profusely. The girl on the phone wasn’t helpful, told me she couldn’t tell me if it needed stitches or not, and they might just «glue» it back together. She reminded me again of their minimum $ 100 fee. So, I took the matter into my own hands and stopped the bleeding and glued her ear shut MYSELF, saving myself hundreds of dollars.
