I don’t know what happened to this place. I went there when it first opened and the food was amazing. My steak was cooked to perfection(medium rare). The sides were amazing. The waitstaff was pleasant. The ambiance was spot on. The whole experience was perfect. Recently, went back for the second time. Let me start out by saying, WHATHAPPENEDTOBBG??? Totally different experience from when we first went. Steaks and sides had no flavor. I had to send my steak back 3 times. Everyone was complaining about the food. I felt like an idiot for bringing a party of 6 here. Waitstaff had changed and had no idea what they were doing. They were rude as can be. Again, the food was terrible. Steak was tough. Sides were totally bland. I spent $ 1300 for a party of 6. If the food is good, I don’t care but when I spend $ 1300 for GARBAGE, it really pisses me off. BBG. What happened? Did you change chefs? Did you change Mgmt? Did you change waitstaff? I WILLNEVEREVERRETURN. SPENDYOURMONEYATONEOFTHESTEAKHOUSESONNORTHERNBLVD. DON’T SPENDYOURMONEYHERE.

So happy I found this place! From the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be a great dining experience. Loved the ambience and design; and it opens up in the front for some al fresco dining. Instead of just the usual pre-meal bread they bring you garlic toast with a delicious fondue for dipping. We had oysters from the raw bar which could not be better. For my main course I had the bacon burger which was probably the best burger Ive ever had. Our server was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Definitely coming back for a taste of more — — the appetizers and drinks sounded amazing.

This was my second visit to The BBG. I really don’t understand the rave reviews for this restaurant. The food is okay, but the menu is boring and overpriced. I love Kyma but The BBG just isn’t as good. Why aren’t there ever specials on the menu?

A-ok is right. Didn’t start off on the right foot as when I asked to add another to our reservation(which was made a month in advance) I was told we needed to vacate by 830 as they needed the table. Um ok? I understand table turnover, but there are other ways of conveying the message. Nonetheless we wanted to see what the hype was about and moved our reservation up so we wouldn’t feel rushed through courses. Arrived Saturday night and seated quickly. Street parking is a little of a pain. FOOD: The standout was the garlic bread/cheese fondue, that was complimentary, the grilled octopus and the mac and cheese. I had the lamb chops which were served on a bed of shoestring fries(meant for 4) probably, they weren’t seasoned well, chewy and overcooked. We left full but not raving about the food after taking a hefty chunk outta our wallets. Service: needs work, disclaimer, we were a party of 6. But drink orders were wrong. Plates put down and the server is gone before you can even ask what the sauce is. Empty water glasses through most of the main course. Average at best

Was so looking forward to trying this place… unfortunately had a horrible experience. The meal was going great until we got to dessert. There my husband ate pieces of glass in his ice cream!!! Thank God his mouth did not get cut up or swallow it. Needless to say we were totally shock and thankful our daughter was not the one that had that spoon of ice cream. The saddest part was only the waiter came to tell us some story that maybe some glass fell into to ice cream. No Maitre D came to explain or apologize for what has happened. The only thing they did was deduct the $ 10 for the dessert off our bill. They should learn what it means to keep customers happy and safe… there are too many awesome steaks houses to go to. If you go eat there double check your food to make sure it’s safe to eat!!!

Awesome Greek-inspired«steakhouse». Although the menu is steakhouse-focused(lots of steak choices and a fair amount of chops and American dishes), you feel like you’re in a small Greek restaurant, not a steakhouse. The service was great. If you’re looking for a drink, The BBG is LIGHTSOUT. Bourbon all the way.

Let’s say I had high expectations going in based on previous reviews of Unilocal as well as friends that have dined there … Also knowing they own Kyma I thought it would be amazing right away . Start by saying the place is tiny, a tiny go to for locals and nothing more than that. No reason to drive here for the food there are a hundred places before you get here for the money that are so much better . Service is bad, horrible slow and before you finish your drinks and or food is taken away with out you looking by wait staff that does not understand English they are just told to clean clean clean … Very sad when your paying 18 for a martini and your not even done with it and they clear it off the table . Food… Greek salad ehh same old big tomatoes with two blocks of feta and onions and cucumber nothing amazing — the crab cake it’s ok was actually one of the only things that we somewhat enjoyed. Shrimp cocktail well it’s shrimp cocktail can’t really screw that up big large shrimp placed on a nicely presented platter . The worst(octopus) wow like rubber had to remake it three times as I requested and it still was horrible tasted like a salt shaker… Petite filet and long bone both cooked okay however no decent accompaniments to compliment it — there house steak sauce tastes like bbq sauce it’s pretty terrible they had nothing else to offer but ketchup … Not using ketchup on a 90 $ steak ! Sautéed spinach and grilled asparagus more like a pot of oil … Not good at all … They tried to make due on the night and offer us they’re famous chocolate layer cake … Pathetic dining experience in what I thought and was hoping for a delicious and happy one.

Came to the BBG tonight with a small party. This place is very Manhattanesq in a small Long Island town. With that being said the place was solid. Definitely try the octopus as a starter it was phenomenal. Steaks were cooked perfect and sides were good as well. Service was on point. Not the friendliest but very attentive. Ambiance is pretty good but very loud. I would certainly check the place out. I was at Blackstone the night before and would easily take the BBG over my experience at Blackstone. The meal is pricey but food quality was excellent.

Very nice atmosphere in a neighborhood that doesn’t really come to mind whether looking for a place to eat. The service was excellent and attentive. Overall, the food was good and above average for a steakhouse in New York. For appetizers, had the garlic toast/fondue(complimentary and was awesome), octopus(very tender and well done). Also had a try of their zucchini chips(ok, but not a fan) and their spread sampler(again, ok — but not something I would order again). Main course was the steak — ordered the porterhouse for 2. It was done exactly as ordered(medium) and was one of the better steaks I have had. Sides included mushrooms and a basket of their french fries which complimented the steak well — no issues with them. In all, if your seeking an alternative to Peter Luger, this place will be a great choice. It has Greek influence in its offerings which I like. This place had caught my interest and is keeping it for now as I am intrigued and want to try the other items they have to offer.

Came here on Saturday for a birthday/thank you dinner with my family. We had four kids with us and they happily accommodated us with two of the cutest/fanciest high chairs i’ve ever seen for the little ones. Service was on point too! Waiter(Angelo) was super attentive, as was the other staff that came by often to refill our glasses and change our dirty plates/utensils. As many of the other reviews suggest, the garlic bread with cheese fondue for starters is AMAZING! My 2 year old had 4 pieces of that right off the bat! We ordered what felt like half of the menu haha We got the grilled octopus(the char on it was amazing!), the calamari(love the capers but it was a bit overpriced), crab cake(delicious), caesar salad(huge salad and very fresh — exactly what i wanted!), long-bone rib eye(we ordered two of these and asked for med. rare — one of which came out more medium but overall still got great reviews), the organic chicken(was juicy but could have used more flavor), the chilean sea bass(the two ladies who ordered it loved it), the special for the night which was braised short rib on risotto with a crab meat ceviche(unfortunately have to take away one star for this dish — the short rib was overcooked and not flavorful at all. The ceviche, on the other hand, was the star of the dish). We also ordered sides of fries(nothing to write home about), sauteed spinach, creamed spinach, truffle oil mac and cheese and roasted mushrooms. We also got the 10 layer chocolate cake and sang happy birthday to DH. We all loved the cake… yum! Amazingly, we finished a lot of what we ordered(what can i say, we LOVE to eat!) and leftovers were still delish the next day :) They also had the 2012 Cakebread cabernet for $ 120 a bottle which my bro said was a steal! Also have to mention that the décor was clean and modern… which i liked very much. They also offer valet parking, or you can park a block or two away for 60 – 90 minutes. We didn’t check our cars at all during the 2.5 hours we were there and all was well! :) Will definitely be back!

Best food and worst service I have had in along time so if they get their act together they could achieve greatness; on the other hand they could go away. Food 4.5. Service 1.5 BBG is at trendy new spot and I don’t mean that in a negative way. It very much unlike other Long Island restaurants and more like the new city restaurants. The cool space does come with a price; at times it was almost too loud. The service problems seemed to be systemic and start to finish. Started at check in when they said our table would be just a few minutes and that is OK; but when they seat the next 2 groups of the same size as the walk in, I am like WTF… But that was minor compared to the rest of the night. We waited for nearly 40 minutes for our appetizers which were 2 salads and the spreads, but the bigger issue was that we got the«their coming right out» line for fifteen minutes and had to get angry to get action. The mains cane faster, but still below par As it got later and the crowd thinned we got better attention but by then the experience had been ruined. The icing, and this was funny, was the pen the waiter gave us to fill in the tip and sign our name did not work. Ok enough whining. On to the The food. Started with the Greek Salad and the Chop Salad. Both we good and plenty to share. The spreads did not impress. The main courses, on the other hand were amazing. The BBG burger was one of the best I have had in a long time and the magic was in the meat not all the toppings. As well the chicken was very flavorful, but the ribs stole the show. The meat fell off the bone and had a delicious barbecue sauce and was served on a bed of crispy stick fries. We finished with this huge piece of chocolate layer cake(not sure what it was called) and we said no way we could kill it, but it was that good and we succeeded. The food will bring me back for another try, but another poor service performance and I will be done. Note they do have Valet parking. Updating review March 2016 Service was spot on tonight. Starting from the girl who seated us right through to the goodbyes at the end. Ribs and burger were also excellent again. The steaks look good. That will be on the menu for the next visit. Warning however, word of mouth is they can keep you waiting a while for a table. Updating to 4 stars

I came here with my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day this year and it was the perfect balance of fancy and casual. The food was great, the service was pretty good but I’ll cut some slack for it being valentine’s day. I ordered the roasted chicken breast, which was not my first choice but they ran out of the lamb chops. The chicken was great, it was cooked perfectly and thankfully for me it was boneless. My boyfriend ordered the Cajun spiced steak and he is still talking about it two weeks later about how great it was. I tried it, it wasn’t too spicy but I’m sure after the whole steak it would have been too much for me. For appetizers we got the garlic bread in a cheese fondue, also amazing and we shared mac and cheese. It was the perfect level of cheesy goodness. He wanted to get a dessert but the desserts weren’t anything spectacular for the prices. just ordinary stuff you can get anywhere. I also liked that they had heart balloons and a valentines day playlist — whatever I’m corny.

We popped in here for an earlier lunch on a Sunday and found this place fairly quiet until we started wrapping up our meal. The ambiance for this steakhouse is more modern and does not feel like you are out in Williston Park, which is definitely a good thing. Overall, the atmosphere was inviting and the service was attentive from the moment we entered the restaurant until we left. Getting to the food, we had the bread in cheese fondue sauce(a must try!), the octopus(cooked tenderly and perfectly flavored), tempura fried shrimp(awesome balance and mix of flavors but not too heavy), and the fried zucchini and eggplant(that was accompanied with a tzatziki and hummus that were both excellent). For mains, I tried the kobe burger(definitely good for 2 people to share and was exactly what I was hoping this burger would be), the mac n cheese(great flavor and textures but not too heavy), and the beets(light and a good compliment to many of our dishes). To finish things off, we got the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream(insane piece of rich cake that we were able to split among 8 of us without a problem but definitely needed the ice cream to accompany it for balance) which was very good. Overall, the service was great throughout our whole dining experience as they were friendly and attentive. For what we ordered and the price we paid at this steakhouse it was well worth everything. I would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a little NYC feel but having a great experience as well without having to commute for it. Buon appetito.

The food was absolutely amazing. i had the long bone ribeye aged. My only suggestion would be alittle more seasoning possibly a Cajun touch or just alittle salt rather. I have to say though the setting and service was immaculate. This restaurant really impressed me and I am a steakhouse seeker! A must try

45 minutes until we were seated Appetizers didn’t all come out together 2 entrees were cooked incorrectly quality of the food ok, but for a steakhouse to not be able to cook meat correctly I would say you have issues. But the worst part was the host who throughout kept saying«we are going to take really good care of you.» I guess he mean deliver food that wasn’t up to par and service that wasn’t even as good as you would get at Applebees Thanks for the free round of drinks, but honestly you don’t win when you food is poor and your service is poor and when you don’t deliver. Good luck and I can’t wait to see what new restaurant comes in next to this space

I’ve been wanting to come here for awhile, watching their place transform shortly after moving into this neighborhood. BBG layout, décor, & atmosphere is trendy and warm. The white walls and clean lines makes it feel a bit sophisticated. The colors remind me a bit of the whiteness in Santorini. I think our waiter even told us that there was a tiny bit of Greek influence in this place. Noise level was on the loud side with the music and everyone talking, but it wasn’t that loud that we felt the need to shout across the table to be heard. We made reservations so we didn’t have to wait at all. I definitely recommend doing that because it was extremely packed during dinner time. If you are waiting, they’ve got an awesome full bar. My friends did that last time and their garlic bread was complimentary only at the bar! Our waiter was very attentive. We had ordered a bottle of red which later, he happened to find out that they were out so we ordered a different one and he comped our Roasted Garlic Bread(which were crispy, buttery, garlicky and delicious!)! Thank you for that! The crabcake was very moist and yummy and had a nice crust on top. Our medium rare porterhouse for two was phenomenal — so juicy and tender and flavorful! My friend had ordered the Cajun Style Sirloin Steak since we don’t normally see that at other places. The cajun spice wasn’t overpowering; the hint of it was surprisingly really good. We also tried the Memphis Style BBQ Ribs and they were finger-lickin’ good. The meat fell off the bones so easily. Presentation of all the dishes we had were superb. Price is on the high-side, but you’re getting quality food! I wish they offered a small side dish with your entrée, but to be honest, one entrée was more than enough for me. I’m impressed BBG! Can’t wait to come back for more!

I recently ate at this new, trendy restaurant on Hillside Ave. in Williston Park, NY… centrally located to Roslyn, Garden City, Mineola, Herricks, Westbury and New Hyde Park. Atmosphere: The restaurant has a great, open layout with a medium sized bar to the left that you can grab a drink with friends or while waiting for a table. Starters: we were seated promptly and they start the meal by providing toasted bread in garlic and oil… really good, but very dangerous(in a good way)! The menu has mostly meat and fish options, but a nice selection of appetizers and main courses. Apps: We went with the seafood tower with Extra Large/Jumbo shrimp cocktail($ 7.00 each) and 2-dozen Westcoast Oysters. We also had the Rock Shrimp and Grilled Octopus… all were winners with the Rock Shrimp as the star! Main Course: the table ordered the following; NY Sirloin Steak, Memphis-style BBQ Ribs and Peppered-crusted Tuna(from the Raw Bar). Tuna was fresh, Sirlion was cooked perfectly and juicy, Filet was like butter and the Ribs were tender and saucy(so says my daughter). Dessert: the table shared Italian Cheesecake and a Cannoli, both were worth ordering! Overall: The staff was very attentive and professional. In fact, since we kept ordering so many Oysters, the chef came out from the back to chat with us and the manager even checked in with us during the meal. Good, fun atmosphere and tasty food. Prices are high, but I think this is a good addition to the restaurants in the area, I’ll be back! Enjoy!
