Lazy people are allowed to work at job lot. The owners do not support management when it comes to associates with poor performance

I love poking around in Job Lot! I always find things here that I never knew existed but desperately need! Like the other day I found there a bag of deformed jelly beans. There were like these siamese-twins, and long, mishappen-shaped ones, real mutant-looking things mostly, in the bag. How wonderful is that? This is the place for unexpected odds-and– ends, you never know what you’ll find there, you’ll see!

This store is essentially a regional Big Lots, which I’ve always been impressed with, so it’s no surprise that one can find some really great stuff here at fantastic prices. The deals on food, as another reviewer noted below, are particularly good. One pound of organic, 100% whole wheat pasta from Italy for only $ 1.25? Yes, please! As for the negatives… (1) NOT everything here is a great deal. You can get some of the best stuff, however, if you sign up for their weekly email, which comes with deeply-discounted coupons. (2) I’m not sure if this complaint applies to every Ocean State Job Lot or just this store in particular, but the cashiers are incredibly picky about using manufacturer’s coupons. Is your coupon an internet coupon? Expect it to be turned away unless it’s printed in color. Does your coupon have a paragraph of small print? Expect to hold up the line because your cashier will read every last word to make sure it doesn’t go against any store, sale, or discount policy. Is your coupon only valid for toilet paper packages of 12 rolls or more? Expect the cashier to physically count the rolls of toilet paper in the package… and expect to correct the cashier when she only counts one side(6 out of 12 rolls). I’ve never had more trouble using a coupon at a store than I have had here, which is strange given how much OSJL advocates on its Facebook page to use manufacturer’s coupons on top of their own(which, as an FYI, you shouldn’t do unless the coupon explicitly doesn’t forbid you from doing so, because you WILL be stopped by the cashier if you try to do so).

An incredible selection of everything under the sun. A mix of lower to mid-range items you’d find in a homeware store all at slashed prices. The stock turns over weekly so the products you find deals on one week may not be there a month later. I grabbed a pair of Mechanix 3.0 gloves for $ 8 which normally go for $ 25 among other items.

Ocean State Job Lot is my first, my last, my everything. It is my new SF Chinatown for cheap(and nice!) dishes and glasses, kitchen and hardware products, an amazing array of dry erase/cork boards that just make me want to buy a bunch to hang in each room of the house for writing lists of what I need to buy when I go there. Oh, and don’t get me started about the food! Imported PG Tips teabags for $ 2.99 as opposed to somewhere in the $ 7 range, bags of Baci chocolates for $ 3, 100% pomegranate juice for $ 3(very delicious too mind you) and a plethora of spices and pastas and dried fruits and nuts and spices and snackies that make me just dizzy with glee. And I haven’t even checked the whole place out yet.
