Great atmosphere, wonderful very friendly and helpful staff but its a place for someone who knows and loves cheese… not me. Dont get me wrong I love cheese just as much as the next guy I am just uneducated when it comes to cheese. Is the stinky cheese good? is the yellow wax surrounded cheese supposed to be the best? I don’t know… I have been here a bunch of times and have cautiously stepped outside my comfortability zone to try things I haven’t had before, but haven’t liked anything I tried. Please don’t let this deter you as my palate is not as refined as some. It seems if you are a cheese lover this is the one stop shop. I hope they last as they are in a very cool location and are such nice people whose passion for dairy really shows.

So I’m strolling around the Williamsville Farmer’s Market and I see one of my favorite City Folks, Jill from NCCM. I start scanning the goods and don’t see cheese. «Where’s the cheese?» I ask. «Inside» he responds, as he motions behind him. Then it hits me, I can now WALK to a NCCM!!! So the Elmwood location is great and this location is equally satisfying. I entered the store with a girlfriend who was shopping with me that morning, and after several minutes of overwhelming indecisiveness her first comment was«well we certainly know where to come next time we’re making a cheese plate!» So I decided to stick with something I knew but hadn’t had in a while, the brie that Jill served at last summer’s NCCM Unilocal Elite event. I hadn’t remembered the name(St. something) but she knew immediately! I made off with a half pound of it and two chocolate cheese truffles(cranberry blue cheese with dark chocolate, and tallegio with a salted walnut and dark chocolate). I also made lots of mental notes for things to purchase the next time I didn’t have a 45 minute walk home in 88° temperatures, like the gluten and soy free hazelnut ice cream sandwiches in the freezer, or one of the many delicious and smelly looking blue cheeses in the cheese case. Definitely the only choice you should make when on the market for cheese and cured meats for your next artisan charcuterie platter. Just being in the store inspired me to put a wine and cheese party together soon!
