No discount on specials if you use a groupon. It does say that in the Groupon but this is just a reminder in case you didnt read their fine print. I first came here for lunch with a friend. We both got the Cuban but she didnt care for it because the mustard was spicier than horseradish. She swore it was horseradish but it was their mustard. I felt bad because she didn’t eat it. The fries were okay. I came her for dinner with another friend. I had the whiteFish which was good. The kale with mushrooms was especially good. I had a Michigan artisan cherry cocktail. I can’t remember the description but it tasted like pure liquor and smelled like cherry blossoms. My friend got the shrimp and linguine and thought it was okay. She really liked the Californian red wine. Carrot cake had way too much frosting and we thought it was bland. The cake part itself was thick chunky and good. Just was too overpriced for a bunch of frosting and some cake. The service was okay but a bit snooty. The waitress forgot something I asked for. People are human but at a restaurant of this price I do expect to be checked up on more. I should have kept her tip at 15% for those two reasons but somehow I ended up higher. I live 15 – 20 minutes away and I can’t say I’ll be running back. Im sure it will be a while considering all the other awesome local options and I didnt think this price to value was there as a whole when considering in everything. Do try that fish if you get a chance though!

We went there for Valentine’s Day dinner. The food was quite outstanding. We ordered mussels for appetizer, crawfish corn chowder soup, pan seared whitefish and porterhouse chop. They were all very tasty, especially the whitefish. We would definitely go back.

This place is awesome, the only thing that keeps me from immediately giving them a 5 is that I only really really like a few items off the menu, albeit, I do have a very picky palette and I’m not a fan of cheesy dishes, I’m a meat and potatoes kinda fella. Speaking of meat and potatoes, their pot roast is phenomenal and their burger is one of the best I’ve ever had. The gumbo though, man, talk about a religious experience. I drive roughly 30 minutes to Williamston, which has nothing else to really do, just for the gumbo. I’ve literally come here for dinner and just eaten multiple bowls of their gumbo. My better half loves the seafood corn chowder as well, never had a bad meal here and I dig the décor/ambience as well.

Always solid choice in Williamston. Johnny cakes, Ya Ya Gumbo, Crawfish and roasted corn chowder, and the lunch combo with BLT/Turkey/Pastrami and soup is a great lunch.

Hope you enjoy waiting. Went here for Christmas eve dinner, unfortunately, the service was so slow, it seemed like New Year’s Day when we finished. It took over 3 hours for our small party of 4 people to complete our meal in a half empty restaurant. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Things went downhill from there. It took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive and over 60 minutes for our appetizers. Of course, since the wait was so long, the soups/salads we all ordered came out with the appetizers. One appetizer we has was the shrimp & fresh corn tamale. The shrimp and sauce were delicious and well prepared, the tamale itself was overcooked and had the consistency of vulcanized rubber. The roasted feta & honey was also tasty, but the cheese had developed a skin on it. Not sure if it was from overcooking or just sitting in the kitchen FOREVER. The bone-in ribeye was actually very tasty and cooked to the proper temperature. Everyone else also seemed to enjoy their entrees, but the service was so bad and slow that it ruined the meal. We are still not sure what the staff was doing. They had plenty of waitstaff, but they were busy doing nothing except wandering around the restaurant or disappearing into the kitchen for endless periods of time. We even said something to the manager, but they had a large party of 15 or 20 that seemed to be their priority, rather than any of the other customers at other tables. The manager also could have stepped in and helped, but instead, stood behind the empty bar. Even the check took 20+ minutes to get. I have been to many restaurants and enjoyed tasting menus of 7 courses or more, and even that took less time. So while the food may be decent, the service is terrible. Don’t go here unless you have many hours to kill.

My parents and I came here for dinner while they were in town visiting. We immediately noticed how nice the décor was, and how inviting it is. We had the carnitas on johnny cakes as an appetizer, and wow it was good! It reminded me of arepas in Colombia. Definitely recommend! For dinner, my mom had the brick chicken, which was really nice, and had a wonderful rosemary flavor. She enjoyed it very much. My dad had the steak with goat cheese and cumin sauce. He insisted i try the sauce because it was so good, and i have to agree! He really liked it. I had the pork belly with grits. It was amazing! first the portion size was really nice. I havent ever seen a bigger piece of pork belly. The grits were done perfectly and had a wonderful poblano sauce on the perimeter that worked so well together. This is another Williamston gem. A must try if you live here or are visiting.

Came here for a date night out with the hubby. Called ahead for a reservation, then arrived early. There was a lot of staff and we were sat immediately. And there we sat. I was wearing a sweater, but it was freezing by the window. We sat there for 15 minutes and watched people around us being sat and served drinks before us. Server after server walked by and no one even looked at us. Finally I stopped one of them and asked if we had a server. She said she’d check, then she came back and said«she’d just take care of us» Ok, great! We ordered drinks and our meals, since we had ample time to review the menu. She came back in about 5 minutes with bread, our water but not my wine. We got our food about 20 minutes later. Still no wine. I asked for it, she brought me a glass but it wasn’t what I ordered. I drank it anyway. Ambiance was ok. Seemed like they want it to be fancier than the guests do. I had the whitefish, which I’d give 7/10, husband had the pork belly, 7⁄10. When she finally brought our change from our check she was all apologetic sounding. I’m not interested in your apologies. Don’t say sorry. Be better. The food saved this review. But eating here kinda ruined our night. Won’t likely be back.

I have to say since there has been new ownership, I rarely go anymore. Tonight will be the last time for a long time. Poor service, slow service and a menu that has removed everything they used to be known for and that I so enjoyed. Couldn’t find a soup, entrée or appetizer I would even try. Good luck to you, RCG. I give up.

Wonderful, unique and fully flavorful, but pricey. Beautiful atmosphere… Only one tv at the bar:)

RCG is one of our local favorites. For awhile it had a problem with maintaining quality but it is back(under new management?) with a vengeance. I almost always start with the crayfish/corn chowder which is a great hearty starter with consistently terrific flavor. Last time had a red snapper special which had a risotto side. The snapper was well-prepared with a flavorful sauce with capers(not my favorite thing but imparts a nice flavor regardless)…an outstanding meal which would make a worthy addition to their permanent menu. For the best possible experience, request table 10(a booth) and Trish.

We popped in here for lunch on our way to Detroit from Grand Rapids based on the reviews from fellow Unilocalers. The reviews were spot on. Service was quick and attentive. We explained that we had to catch a flight and wanted to eat quickly and to give us a heads up if anything we ordering would take a while. Our order was on the table in less than 10 minutes. My BF had tomato soup and Mac & Cheese. The tomato soup was from scratch and good. The Mac and Cheese was OK, and had sliced chicken on top. I had an apple and blue cheese salad. It was a little overdressed but was tasty. The pomegranate seeds were a nice touch. I liked the carnitas and Johnnycakes less. The carnitas were bland and there was a hair in my plate that wasn’t mine or my servers(we are both blonds). The restaurant is bright and airy, and the waitress was great.

While all the trendy people are packing into Tavern 109 across the street, this little gem of a restaurant is being ignored through no fault of their own. That is not to say the aforementioned restaurant is not deserving of the attention, it is, but so is Red Cedar Grill. I have been to Red Cedar Grill over a dozen times and I don’t think I have ever been disappointed. The service is always impeccable, very attentive and helpful, without being overbearing or aloof. The food is both familiar and unique if that makes sense. They have taken classic items and given them a little twist. Prices are reasonable, but they are lacking a selection of 10 – 15 $ offerings that many might seek. On our recent visit I combined the Carnitas and Johnny Cakes appetizer with the Chopped Apple salad. Both items came to the table looking fantastic. the salad was huge, and frankly the app was pretty large as well. The pork was well seasoned and piled high on the cakes. Very delicious and could easily be paired with a soup or salad to make a hearty meal. My wife ordered the Drunken Salmon. The waitress mentioned that this was her favorite dish on the menu and I can see why. The salmon was cooked well and had such wonderful flavor. The marinade was really drawn into the fish, so that every bite had a consistent taste. to sum up, great food and service, less crowded than some others in town, and a short walk from the ice cream shop.

Service was so welcoming and warm. Looking fancy from outside, was not sure how my welcome would be sense I came in with a red wings Jersey on, was comfortable from the min I walked in. The menu will bring me back even thought it’s a HR drive. Beer on tap was super fresh, very important to me! The burger was basic but good, fry’s were great, and butterscotch pudding a MUST!
