Joanna’s Italian Bakery & Specialties

First, the food. THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS!
Second, our experience. My husband loves sweets and when we threw a party in my hometown this past weekend, the cake I had ordered just wasn’t enough — so we headed to Joanna’s to order a selection of treats.
When we walked in, we were a little taken aback, as we’re used to a «bakery» having huge display cases full of sweets and breads — not so here. BUT — don’t be dismayed! We were quickly swept into a private room with a gentleman (I think the owner?) who sat down and asked us about what we wanted. Within 5 minutes, we had ordered (and sampled!) a delicious assortment of Italian cookies and pastries to pick up the next morning.
My personal favorites were the pignollis, the lemon gennettes and the cream puffs filled with tiramusu filling. My husband’s favorites were, well, all of them. I also just realized that you can order their cookies through mail-​order, which is fantastic because I live in Boston.
Joanna’s gets two thumbs up in my book!
