The tasting room at Apple Country Spirits is inviting, and you’re centrain to find a new favorite to enjoy among the selection of ciders, cordials, and spirits! Located about 40 minutes from downtown Rochester in the Wayne County village of Williamson, Apple Country Spirits is located on a farm just off Eddy Road. You may recognize the farm as the location of the popular haunted hay ride(it looks a lot different in the day time). Nothing scary about the cider tasting room, though you might miss the turn onto Eddy Road if you’re not paying attention. The tasting room is bright and features a smart, traditional looking bar with all of ACS’ Rootstock ciders on tap. The day my date and I visited, they also had an IPA from Swiftwater Brewing on tap. We both had a tasting flight of ciders, and between the two of us we got to try every style. We enjoyed the distinct flavor profiles of each sample, which ranged from dry champagne to tangy cider. We ended up taking home a bottle of Legend and Original between us. We also opted for the cordial tasting. We tried samples of cherry, apple, apricot, and raspberry dessert wines. My date took home a bottle of cherry, I added raspberry to my basket. Our server was bright and friendly and was very knowledgeable about the products. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, so had the place pretty much to ourselves, so it felt like we were getting a private tasting! Overall, a very enjoyable experience. The Rootstock brand dates back to 2012, and is an outgrowth of the fourth generation DeFisher Farms also located in Williamson. Apple Country Spirits makes a fine addition to Wanye County’s apple producing region, and is worth the visit from anywhere in the region.

This is a great locally owned and family run business We felt welcomed soon as we walked in. The man who served us was very knowledgeable about the sprouts and ciders and was very helpful in our choices for tastings. They have a nice variety of vodkas, brandies, hard ciders and other fine spirits all made from fruits they grown on their own farm! I liked the pear tree vodka and the cherry cordial, which tasted just like cherry pie! My favorite was the Perry cider, which is made from pears, so delicious, and I just had to purchase a bottle to bring home! I had a great time here and look forward to returning!

We had experience ACS at Foodlink’s Festival of Food a couple years back and remembered liking their Vodka. So when we went shopping for some gifts with a local Upstate NY flavors(literally) we thought we’d also try a couple of tasting flights. We had one flight of four with just Hard Ciders, both their own brand(Rootstock) and some other NYS brands, and a flight of their distilled liquors(Peach Vodka, two Brandies and their Cherry cordial). If you like tasty and crisp hard ciders with a firm finish you should be able to find at least one here to suit you. Without sampling from a flight I would have been skeptic that ciders could have so much range of subtly within the distinguishably different tastes and finishes to their flavors. Sampling was tasty and educational. Good tip from the staff, their cider can make an excellent base for many cocktails. That I do beleive. IMO much more enjoyable a straight beverage than the more commercially produced and nationally promoted ciders, are over carbonated and try taste like fruity light beer. Brandy aficionados should fiind their Pear, Plum, and Apple Brandies to worth sampling, and their Raspberry infused Vodka is awesome, and the Cherry Cordial is so drinkably good that it should come with a «risk of over-indulgence warning.» I should mention that all of their ciders and liquors and flavoring fruit’s essences are 100% gluten free! The location may appear to be bit off the beaten path but it is easy to get to if you simply google it. Driving down Eddy Road, from a distance the place looks like a sell barn amongst an orchard, but pull into the gravel parking lot and go inside and the warm woods and comfy stools and sunlight make for cozy atmosphere in which to sample some delicious and interesting beverage creations. Also, a great place to pick up some«local» upstate NY gifts and support local business too!

Stopped in for a tasting on a Saturday afternoon. This was the second time visiting Apple Country Spirits. I’m from Wayne County so I’m familiar with the area and always like to patronize local family owned businesses. The same family that runs the Greater Rochester Haunted Hayride also owns this distillery. Both visits I found the people to be very friendly and welcoming. Last time we purchased the pear brandy and made white sangria with it. It was awesome! This latest visit they actually had more for us to taste including flavored vodkas and hard ciders. We bought a bottle of the peach vodka. It’s so good. The tastings this time were $ 1 each which was higher than the last time we stopped in but like I said, they had more for us to choose from this time. Another welcome change was the fact that they are able to serve cocktails now, thanks to a change in New York State law. What I really like about their spirits is they’re made from the fruit the family grows on their farm. Locally grown, locally owned… can’t get much better than that.
