I drove up to Williamsburg with my family to shop, and wanted to check out this store. I had heard a lot about it from friends… some good, some not so good. I was looking for a coffee table and had my two teen boys walk in with me. Not only were we completely ignored as we walked through the front door, we went through the ENTIRE store and not one sales associate approached us! Several other ‘older’ women came in and were followed around– not me! SAD!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ‘The Loft’ that sits behind the road front store. I’ve worked with Jeff and Preston, and both were awesome, knowledgeable and so very patient. We ended up purchasing a sofa from Jeff, and he has followed up with us on the progress of it, from the factory. I just love this store, the selection and Jeff.

Nice place! Stopped by today to look around and ended up purchasing a console table. They helped me stay within budget and still get a nice table. I will definitely be back.

Customer service here sucks. I’ve been in this store twice and not one time did someone acknowledge, greet, or ask if I needed help. Maybe they are racist, but I don’t care enough to shop there because their furniture is over priced and I can never find anything I like.

The Shops at Carolina Furniture has a nice selection of furniture and rugs. I used the decorator services and that was helpful. The decorater came to my home and made suggestions for furniture and really helped with selecting the size of the couch and side chairs based on the size of the room. Once I selected furniture and fabric, the decorator/salesperson called the manufacturers to check whether the fabrics, trims, and leather were in stock for fastest delivery. They were, and we placed the order. Everything was delivered in just about seven weeks, which is quite good for custom furniture. I love everything we ordered. Additionally, I stopped in and ordered an area rug for an upstairs bedroom. It came in and was delivered within a week and it is fabulous. I checked on-line for the rug and the price I paid was competive with on-line prices. Plus, when it was delivered, the delivery men took the rug upstairs and placed both the pad and the rug. We just moved to this area and needed a few things for our new house. I have been very pleased with the service of Carolina Furniture. We initially thought we would shop out of town, but then decided to stay local because we do like he idea of supporting local businesses. That way they will be there when we need something. Everything we got was a nice quality. The delivery was as promised and very professional. I will be back!

Do not buy anything from this company! I ordered a couch, and was told that it would be delivered within 45 days. I paid 50% up front. 45 days came and went. I called and they said, «Oh, actually, the contract says a minimum of 45 days, but that it could take as long as 12 weeks.» Granted, I never saw this contract, nor did I sign any contracts … just a yellow sales receipt noting that I had paid for half of it. But, whatever, I got over it. 12 weeks came and went, and I was on the phone again. The response: «Sorry, apparently the leather supply was out and they had to procure the leather … they didn’t have the materials to make your couch.» I wanted to take my business somewhere else, but of course, I couldn’t get my 50% back. I told the manager that I paid the stated price for a couch and all the services associated with the couch, and that the services associated with the couch have not been fulfilled. Therefore, I should not have to pay the full price for the couch. Baker wouldn’t budge. So in other words, if a company does not deliver on its promise, there are no consequences – they could conceivably deliver the couch a year from now with no recourse(all the while, earning interest on the 50% that I put in). But if, after not receiving a product within a time frame that was specified by the company, I want to take my business somewhere else, I am penalized for that. The scales are tipped in favor of them, and quite frankly, if that is how it is with them, then I want no part of it. I hope people read this review and realize that there are better options for buying furniture – ones that honor their promises and truly do deliver on customer service.

Custom ordered an ottoman. I knew that it would take a while for it to be built, so I waited patiently. Two and a half months passed and still no call from them with any status on my furniture. I had to call them several times to get the status on my order. The kept telling me that they would call me back, but never did. Finally, my piece was ready, and yet they still failed to call me regarding delivery. I had to follow-up with them again and again to schedule delivery. There’s still one hardware piece that needs to be built and delivered and once again, I’ve had to continually call them and follow-up AND they continually fail to respond back to me. I’m going to stick with Virginia Wayside Furniture in Richmond. I have had nothing but wonderful service from them.
