We stopped in for lunch. I had the potato beer soup, which was very good and a side salad. The greens were crisp and fresh. My hubby had the smoked chicken sandwich, also quite good. I would definitely recommend it.

The food was decent, but that’s not what this review is for; but I did mention the food later in this review. My problem is with misleading pricing for ‘happy hour’. ½ price appetizers says the waitress— however, come to find out that the printed price on the menu is the ½ price. Misleading. And no fine print that indicates the prices are as printed. They honored the ½ price as we understood it and took $$ off the bill, but not without a lengthy discussion about it with 2 different staff members. That kills a decent meal for a relaxing night out :/. I don’t recommend the prime rib sandwich it was overdone, but the tomato bacon mash was tasty, as were the fried portobello mushrooms.

Atmosphere was meh. Food was average. Service was something they need to work on. Great for a quick bite and beer.

OMG… If you like local flavor. This is the place for you. Yelling across the room. Drunk dudes hitting on your lady friends. This place has it all. Don’t let them them know you are a democrat. You’ll get a face full of angry beer spit.

Don’t waste your time or money. The service is slow(and that’s being kind), the staff is inattentive and the food is mediocre at best. I have attempted to eat here several times and was either disappointed or just never got to the point of getting the actual food served to us. It’s a complete waste of time and money and ultimately, you will feel silly for having wasted your time with this place.

Stopped in for dinner — Blue Gill dinner, one piece had a fishy taste but other than that, very good along with an order of the Portobello mushrooms which were excellent.

Can I say this place is awesome. The beef brisket sandwich is one of the best I’ve had. The service is spectacular. I would recommend making a stop here for lunch and a nice cold local brew.

I haven’t been in this place in a while. I am pleasantly surprised. They have live music, there is a good crowd. The menu has been updated and the food is good. Fairly good beer selection. Most standards in bottles and some good local micros mixed in on tap. The bar area is nice, a few TVs for you to watch whatever you want. Come on in and give CJs a try. Enjoy!

Thought I would give a second chance. Or third. Waiter approach with a drink request. Asked got a White wine was out. Thought server was energetic and was attentive. Ordered a flat bread pizza. Was almost 30 min. Pizza OK. Just was not impressive at all. Owner of bar sat drinking and flirty with bartender.

Don’t. Just don’t. We «tried» this place three times. Each time worse than the one before it. We live close by and options are limited. The first time there were fruit flies IN my salad. Nope. The second time, I stuck with dessert and it was ok, but service was awful, which made no sense because we were the only people in there. The last time we had about ten people with us as a family gathering. We needed a place that could accommodate our group and I knew they wouldn’t be busy near the casino. My dessert(again, I wasn’t going to take a chance) came out solid. Like a rock. It was supposed to be cake. One person in the group was satisfied with her meal. One. It took us more than two hours to eat(we were the only people in there) and when they took my dessert off the bill they took it off of everyone’s bills. Uh??! It’s a big joke now. We will be trying to decide where to go for dinner and say, «how about Mr. C’s?» and then laugh. I even saw my uncle recently and he said, «oh, that place where the meal was horrible?» Try it if you’d like, we kept hoping it would improve but over 6 months it never did.

I decided to check it out, as they are relatively new I’m the local market. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was very well prepared and properly seasoned. Just because I love wings, I tried theirs and was impressed. Made in-house, not breaded, great house made hot sauce… try the dry rub with a side of their sauce. Not just a pub, they are a very good restaurant.

Very nice, warm, cozy, up north, cabin-like atmosphere. Menu could have more items, the choices seem somewhat limited. Looks like they have nice nightly specials, though. The service was good, Barb was out server. She was very attentive and knowledgeable. My drowned beef sandwich was excellent! The horseradish sauce on it gave it a great kick. Fries were good. My husband had a double order of the kids chicken tenders because they did not have an adult option. He said the chicken seemed processed, didn’t taste very good. The barbecue dipping sauce was very thin/runny and tasted nothing like barbecue sauce when I tried it. It was very sweet. My mother-in-law had the tips of meat(not sure exactly what it is called) over a piece of bread. She said the meat was excellent, but the bread was very soggy and didn’t «smell» good, She said it had a weird smell coming from it. Will definitely be going back. Would love to try the entrees, but they seem pretty pricy for the portion sizes you receive. Will try them when they are on special

Been a few times and haven’t been impressed with service or food. To clarify though I was there very early on after opening the first time but the second time was midday on Saturday after Iceman and the service was still a little slow and food was mediocre. I got back on here to see if things have improved, it seems things are somewhat better I think I will give it one more chance?

I would have absolutely loved this place if the waitress was more attentive and the kitchen was faster at preparing meals. We were there on a Monday night. There was literally no one else in the restaurant except for two guys at the bar. We were warmly greeted and sat immediately. I love the look and feel of this place. It had that mountain lodge feel, with the all wood interior, etc. The food was great and very reasonably priced. I had a burger and it was delicious. But the food took about 25 minutes to arrive. I’d understand if the place was packed, but it was desolate. And it took us a while to flag down our waitress at the end of our meals to get the check. If this places steps up its service and food times it will be successful.

Great service, atmosphere, food and prices! Will be visiting again!!! Beef brisket was tasty and the mashed potatoes were a perfect compliment. Portion was large enough to fill us both. The salmon pâté was delicious and was a great value for the amount of food. With a Unilocal check in we got a free carrot cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I have had better carrot cake but it was still pretty good. Service from Amanda was very attentive and the appetizer and entrée came out very fast. The beer selection was diverse with plenty of local selections and your usual variety of domestic and imports. Full service bar. Lots of nice TVs to catch a peek of your team. Décor was a nice northern MI ambiance and a local musician was playing a wide selection of genre hits. Very glad to see the building in use again and to have a decent sit down relaxed restaurant closer to Kalkaska. Keep it up!

Excellent food! I had the Mac & Cheese which was the best I’ve had! my husband had the Beer Braised Chicken which had a lot of flavor. A very unique dish and I mean that in a very good way. There were many items on the menu that I would love to try if we ever get back up here. Service was a little disappointing. our server was more interested in cleaning up so she could get out than taking care of us. I would definitely recommend Mr C’s just don’t go in 45 minutes before they close! We didn’t get to use our free dessert for checking in because it took so long to get served and to get our bill we didn’t want to see how much longer it would take to get a dessert.
