I love the brisket there! Probably the best I’ve had. The portions are good and fresh. The tea is sweet and the queso they put on brisket sub is awesome! The only thing I can say to kill the great review is the service at times. This week I was sat fast and had an enjoyable experience with our waitress but I have been there and waited 20 minutes to sit when they were only 1⁄3 full. Then to top it off, they only had tea and water. Good food and affordable. Good for families or lunch. Prime rib on Friday and Saturday right now.

If you like their style bbq, you’ll love this place, However everything from the chicken to the pork taste the same. The menu does not have a great selection either. This was my second time eating here and although the food was ok, I don’t think I will eat there again.

Amazing bbq chicken & brisket! The best I have ever had. Staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. It is a must stop if I am ever in this area again.

Food was decent along with service. Nothing to go out of your way for but if your in the neighborhood then go for it

Good bbq place quick service and reasonable prices. Brisket was very tender and plentiful on the platter. Wasn’t impressed with the red slaw. The others with me had the bbq sandwiches and thoroughly enjoyed them. Sauces on table were good. Hush puppies were mediocre. Missing nanner pudding which should be a staple at a bbq place …

I came here on the recommendation of a local business associate. The service was excellent, the sweet tea is Carolina-sweet and the hush puppies came with honey butter. Unfortunately for me is where the good part of my experience ends. Ordered the brisket and while it was edible, it didn’t resemble any other brisket I have ever eaten which includes brisket in Texas & Memphis as well as Tuffy Stone’s from BBQ Pitmasters TV fame. This brisket was overly moist and overly tender which would have been great if I had ordered steak. It also seemed to have an unusually large amount of juicy greasy fat versus smoked & dried fat. There was also only a light layer of caramelization/charring on the top but little to none on the sides. As I said, it wasn’t necessarily bad brisket but it was nothing that made me want to come back or write home. I also had the homemade potato chips. They were cooked just right but had no seasoning or flavor. Most BBQ places put the BBQ dry rub on their chips but not here. They were served with ranch dressing which helped but I would rather have had some seasoning.

Waste of money. Ribs were bad, cole slaw, hush puppies, pretty much everything was bad. Barbecue was eatable but not worth the money.

One word for you here, brisket. It’s as good as it gets, real Texas brisket sides are just ok.

Had lunch today for the first time Ordered regular sampler plate plus beef brisket add on. Great beef brisket!!!(Rare for NC). Chicken was great. Chopped BBQ pork was good as well. Fries and hush puppies were hot and great… service was above normal and fast. Tried all sauces and all were good… No loud music per other reviews. Manager came to table to check on us as well. Will be back when in the area!

We were very disappointed this trip in the food. One order was the Brisket sandwich with the Queso sauce. There was so much sauce on it that the sandwich kept sliding off the bun. The other choice was Fish and chips and that was greasy.

Definitely one of the better bbq places I’ve been to. The bbq is nice and tender… paired with the sweet sauce they have, it’s perfect! Their sides are really good too. Not like the nasty, frozen sides that Little Richards has. Next time I go, I think I’ll try the brisket or chicken. My husband had their build your own burger and it was huge. He seemed to enjoy it. Service is always great. Always friendly!

I had the BBQ sandwich. It was nothing to write home about. Sort of bland and unimpressive. Really not much to talk about here.

I was pretty impressed, much better than some standard bbq places. I think the sides really set it apart because they all tasted fresh and hand made instead of frozen and reheated. The meat was a little tough but the sauces made up for where it lacked. Loved the cork nuggets and would go back if ever in Wilksboro again.

Not a big fan of Eastern Carolina bbq, but the Texas brisket was great and came with a tomato based sauce(hint: put some of that on your tables). It was the best brisket I’ve had in a long time… Also the warm blue cheese pub chips are OUTSTANDING !!! Try it, you’ll like it.

This is a fairly new addition to the BBQ scene in Wilkes County, and there are some good things here, but a true NCBBQ joint, it ain’t — it’s kinda like Applebees met a sports bar, and they decided to serve pig. It is located in one of the myriad of strip shopping areas on that section of US Highway 421 that has always been a crowded nightmare, and it has gotten even worse. The outside is bright & shiny, while the inside is a little dark, and a tad noisy. They describe their chopped barbecue pork as Lexington style, and it is probably closer to that style than any other — though the red«BBQ» slaw is rather thin, and not as sharp tasting as most versions, and the sauce is a sweeter, tomato based sauce, though it does have some very nice spiciness to it. The meat is moderately chopped, tender, but with no hint of smokiness. The sandwich goes for $ 4, and is huge — a fully loaded 5 inch bun. definitely would get the bad boy again.

The food deserves a 4. It really is some of the bettert BBQ we’ve come across, anywhere. However, the overly energetic, extremely loud music is so obnoxious and so disruptive of the overall experience, I have to give Tipton’s a 2(almost gave it a 1). We have family in the area who recommended it. But they warned us «the music is very loud». That’s an understatement. And according to our waitress«a lot of people complain». So, I don’t think it’s just us. It’s called BACKGROUND music for a reason, Tipton’s. Your customers are there for the awesome food and the company of whoever it is that they are with. NOT for the music. And unfortunately it’s so loud and obnoxious, we may pass next time we’re passing through.

I’m confused… I was told this would be the best barbeque place around sadly it wasn’t even close to good. Obviously I can’t speak for all the food but as far as the ribs go save your money. They were poor quality(almost meatless) and were way to smokey… I liken them to pulling a log out of the campfire and attempting to chew it. If this is what the locals consider great barbeque you haven’t been east. Won’t be back.

Just passing thru and decided to try some Carolina BBQ. Ordered the three meat platter. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Best I’ve had in a good while. Pulled pork was good. Ribs not bad. Little dry but lots of them. Red slaw wasn’t for me. Not sure if anybody«really» likes it. One bite and had to push it aside. All in all pretty good. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. I would try it again.

Only place in Central/Western NC with Eastern-NC style BBQ. Not spicy enough to be as good as back east, but it’s pretty darn close. Great service! The waitress asked if we wanted refills when we left and was attentive. Very friendly! The décor is a bit dark, but it didn’t bother me at all. I can’t find any complaints except the food took a bit long to come out… but of course that wasn’t a big deal. I’m not a local, so I won’t be back soon but you can bet next time I pass through North Wilkesboro I will be sure to stop in for some good ol’ Eastern style ‘que.

Wow! — we walked in and thought let’s leave! — the décor was dark and judging from the lack of people here we thought we had made a mistake — we were sooo wrong! This place is amazing! The pulled pork was very tender and was seasoned perfectly — no need for sauce. The western burger was so fresh and perfectly cooked — this place is worth it! The only complaint would be the kids Mac and Chz was nothing more than Easy Mac. Overall we would eat here again!
